Facts about March Harrington!

He has a very academically inclined mind - particularly with the sciences. He's most fond of biology, ecology, geology, etc. - mostly the planet based sciences. His interest in biology is the most formative since later in life, it aids his ability to shape shift.

He is *heavy* into the arts as well - he loves fairytales, adventure stories, classical literature, etc. He's also big into drawing people and animals from the different places he has been (with or without The Doctor). He also has a sketch portrait of the regenerations he's seen and keeps those drawings extra safe, kept in a leather bound book with a latch he keeps his favorite works in.

He has asked The Doctor on several occasions to take him to the years different Alice in Wonderland projects were released, particularly wanting to see 1951 in the cinema the most.

Sometimes, he makes himself have vampire fangs if he thinks it'll tie his outfit together better.

A very observant person, March is the only one who realizes the light on the horizon that his village has been worshipping is, in fact, a threat. Nobody believes him, and his scientific approach to the matter has been tossed aside as the ramblings of a mad man. It's not until The Doctor arrives that somebody listens to March, but by then (in the current draft), the threat is too near, and the village is destroyed - the threat, however, is able to be stopped before it moves on from the area. March follows The Doctor and his companions onto the TARDIS to escape the crumbling buildings.

This is also him pre using the name March Harrington + He/it pronouns - since when he first meets The Doctor, he hasn't been able to put into words that he's trans :P

Rambling about my Doctor Who sona

The general theme of March Harrington's companion journey is very much based on the autistic experience - since he's a self insert and that's been one of the defining arcs of my own life. Him not knowing he wasn't human is very important to that arc - it contextualizes the feeling of being a late diagnosed autistic always feeling like you're out of the loop from everyone around you but not knowing why. His arc of not knowing how to access his true form is a snapshot of how it feels to have masked for so long that you've forgotten how to not mask - and the trials it takes to bridge the gap between who you are and what you were told to be.

His own species rejecting him is indicative of how he would've been considered autistic no matter where he would've been raised - and also partly because I find it makes for a more interesting character arc of finding oneself tbh tbh

His queer journey is also inherently linked to his autistic journey, as it is with myself and other autistic people. And even if it's unintentional to a degree, The Doctor's general... Doctor-ness really inspires March to gain the courage to start to finding himself. The two just kinda understand each other on a fundamental level even if it takes them a grueling slow burn to want to admit it.

I know I call March x The Doctor - MarchDoctor BUTTTT by all means it *could* be called TeaTime given March named himself after The March Hare (a character who hosted a tea party that was being affected by a like... time vortex (eternally the same hour over and over again) and the Doctor is you know... a Timelord

(mostly because The Doctor can probably tell there's something non human about March but other characters keep him from asking March about it - ala Barbara and/or Ian being like "Doctor, you can't just ask a question like that - that's rude!" "It's not rude a bit; just natural curiousity!" "It's the principal of the thing." "Fine, I'll figure out my own way." ... "Maybe we should've just let him ask." "Most definitely.")
