I rewatched this one iconic scene in American Horror Story when Kai Anderson was killed. The moment he started talking about how women should be. The moment when he believed women were inferior made me remember. Many people are still feeling this way, where they believed women should stay in the kitchen and cook or clean the house, listening to everything a man tell them to do.

But why must women do these and meet these expectations just because some men are just aggressive, believing they are the superior species, and just beat up those who are sometimes physically weaker than them? Why must women have to keep getting catcalled? Why do we have to enter the car, still fearing for our safety? Be wary about everything and raised a certain way to protect ourselves from men that cannot control themselves?

I had a friend who was catcalled from a car, the man masturbating while smiling at her and calling her to come towards the car. She was scared and didn't know what to do, only to walk away, not getting pictures or videos along with car plate numbers. Which made me tell her that she could call me as a distraction so this would not happen again.

This toxic masculinity needs to stop, honestly. Men are not better than women. We are made equal. But the ego is stopping some to see the bigger picture of what is happening and staying in the past. It's 2021. A year where we are stuck at home. but also a year where we can reflect on ourselves. We should start doing that.
