Love Languages
Receiving Gifts
Receiving thoughtful gifts from their loved ones to show they love and think of them. These ideas are about what a person with this love language would love to receive.
bringing home flowers without a reason
grabbing their favourite dessert from a far away bakery
planning and surprising them with a vacation to a place they always wanted to go to
bringing home something that they saw in the store and that they maybe don't need but that they just had to buy because it reminded them of their partner
getting them a new video game that they can play together
buying them new gear for a hobby that they enjoy
purchasing tickets to their favourite artist/s
gifting them a sentimental piece of jewellery
buying them a limited edition of their favourite book
creating and gifting them with a scrap book full of photos and sentimental items, like tickets that show their relationship

War was over.
The Avengers had won. Well, Thanos was defeated and now it was time to mourn the losses and go back to the world that they had known before the snap. A world that part of Natasha didn’t believe would ever come back.
Now there was hope again. Hope that she would find you home, safe and sound and things would pick up from where you’d left them before Thanos had almost destroyed everything. Hope that she would find you home and that you’d still love her.
Hope that everything will be okay.
**
“Banner, I’m fine, let me go.” Natasha insisted, wanting to be cleared so she could make it home to her apartment - a place where she’d barely slept as it felt like a haunted museum without you in it. A museum holding the memories you two had made, a museum reminding her of how empty her life was without you.
“You will come back for more testing tomorrow, you hit your head.”
“My head is fine but yours won’t be if you keep me here.”
“Fine, fine. Go.” Bruce lifted his arms in defeat.
Natasha stole the keys to one of Tony’s cars and drove off, speeding towards her old apartment. She had no phone on her and the closer she got to that apartment, the more her pulse raced.
Her heart stopped completely when she pulled up in front of the apartment building and saw you emerge from the door.
“Nat..” Nat saw you whisper and ran out of the car, wrapping her bruised body around yours. She started shaking as relief flooded every cell of her body.
“Любимая…” Natasha repeated over and over again as the two of you held each other in the middle of the sidewalk. She didn’t care that her body ached from the long battle, she didn’t care that there was so much that she still needed to do. No. There was you, solid and breathing in her arms. The scent of you enveloping her, your presence finally anchoring her home after so many years of drifting.
You cupped her face gently, scanning and making sure that she was whole, that she wasn’t a dream.
“What happened?” You asked but your question was silenced with a desperate kiss which you reciprocated just as passionately.
“It was a bad time.” Nat caressed your face gently, your heart breaking when you felt her hands shaking against your skin, touching you almost with a reverence.
“I’m here. We’ll handle it.” You reassured her before leading her back into the apartment.
**
Time went on. The two of you were almost inseparable and it came as a huge relief to you when Natasha announced that she will step back from the Avengers. There would be less shadows haunting you two.
“You’re staring.” Yelena scolded her older sister as you were making tea in the kitchen of your apartment.
“Mind your own business.” Nat bit back playfully.
“You’re so in love, I could puke.” Yelena made a gagging face.
“You’ll find your person too.” Nat winked at her and then moved her gaze back to you.
“I can’t believe that you two made it.” Yelena commented.
“Why?” You asked, looking at your future sister-in-law. The two of you had grown closer in the months after endgame, and in your new home with Natasha, Yelena had her own room, which she joked was as if she was your pet.
“Because the world tried to tear you apart yet you resisted.”
“No, Thanos tried to tear us apart, we finished his stupid grape face.” Nat argued.
Her comment made the three of you laugh. There was still lingering darkness from the time of the snap and the final battle, but Nat frequented therapy and you knew that it would all work out.
“So, did you set a date for the big day?” Yelena looked at you and Nat all snuggled up on the couch.
“No, we are not rushing.”
“Are you tempting fate?” Yelena teased petting your orange cat who plopped herself on the floor next to her.
“She is the one that didn’t get away. There’s no doubt about that.” Natasha smiled and pressed a soft kiss to your temple. She’d had other relationships before meeting you but her soul knew that she’d found home with you the moment she’d laid eyes on you and getting you back was something that she would have given up everything for.
“You’re not getting rid of me that easily.” You teased, even though Natasha could see the tears shining in your eyes.
“Good.” Nat kissed you gently.
“Lord, save me.” Yelena muttered, bursting your little bubble and lightening the mood.

Bed Sharing Scenarios
the bed is big enough for two people without touching, but unfortunately there is only one blanket
we’re roommates and you drunkenly passed out in my bed; move over I’m coming in
we have to sleep on the forest ground, so everything can be the bed, but we still sleep close, because we feel too exposed
you woke me up screaming from a nightmare, and I’m tired, so let’s cuddle so the nightmares don’t come anymore
we rented a place together with our friend group for vacation, but there are only double beds in every room and everyone else already found a sleeping partner
our cover is that we're a couple and it only makes sense to sleep in the same bed
we always used to have sleepovers as children, why would it be weird now?
without enough money, I can only pay for one person to sleep in the hotel, so you need to sneak in and we share
we sat on my bed and talked for hours and eventually we just fall asleep
there is only one good pillow and we both don’t the neck pain, so I guess we have to press our heads close together
we’re camping and my tent ripped, can I please share yours?
there was a big party at some people’s house and we wake up in the same bed together, what happened?
we fell asleep on the couch, watching a movie and wake up entangled with each other
we're snowed in and there is not a lot of space and heat
sharing a bed used to be quite normal for us, when did that change?

There was a force pulling Natasha home.
A force, a precious human that she’d chosen to spend her life with. A light at the end of the tunnel, the warmth and the belonging of home.
When the two of you had met, she had felt that sense of truly belonging and finding a home for the first time. It was a feeling so powerful that it made her lose sleep. It gave her whiplash because there she was - after all those years and after all those adventures that she’d had, suddenly tethered and no longer feeling like she would float for the rest of her life.
She had admitted to herself that she could be fine without romantic love. It was something that she’d lost hope for a very long time ago, yet there were moments - especially when her team members were talking about their families that she felt full with longing. Longing for a home, longing to go home to someone who would be happy (and relieved) to see her.
“I need to make it home.” She told her sister. Yelena only nodded in agreement. The two had been on a mission for the past few days and the more time that had passed, the more restless Natasha had turned.
“You will get back to Y/N, don’t worry.” Yelena reassured her.
“And I will introduce you.” Nat promised.
“You better, or I will introduce myself whether you want to or not.” Yelena “threatened.”
The threat made Nat laugh.
**
You paced around your house, trying to keep yourself busy and distracted while waiting for news. Nat had warned you that there would be no contact while she was away - a way to protect you from potential danger but it did not make anything any easier. In fact, it just put you on edge because your love was far away and you had no way to check in and make sure that she would be back on time, or back at all.
Your phone buzzed and you saw a notification from a group chat with two of your friends - checking in on you. It warmed you, their care but it didn’t ease your anxiety, only partially distracted you from it for a blissful second.
Nat had said that it might take a few days before she could come home. The first night you’d barely slept, the bed feeling too empty without her there snuggled up in you. The second, you’d had nightmares about something happening and you went through all the stages of grief because of the cursed nightmare. The third night you sleep was fractured - short naps that prevented the nightmares from recurring. You dreaded going to sleep but it wasn’t something that you could avoid, despite your desperate caffeine attempts.
“You can’t run yourself into the ground while waiting for her. You need to be okay.” One of your friends had texted you. You knew she was right but still the words stung and brought tears to your eyes. You didn’t know what would happen with you if something had gone wrong with Nat, you hoped that she was okay and that she’d come back to you but the uncertainty made you go almost insane.
The door of the apartment clicked and you heard Natasha’s quiet steps.
“You’re home?” You rushed to the small corridor of your apartment, and there she was, a bit dirty and tired but home.
“I’m home.” She reassured you and you rushed and threw yourself in her arms.
The two of you held on to each other like life depended on it, and to a certain degree it did. You felt like you could breathe again, like everything was going to be fine. Nothing could go wrong - she’d made it home. You cupped her face and pressed a kiss before going over and checking that the cuts on her suit were just that and that she was unharmed.
“I’m okay, love. I am okay. Just tired and sore. I’m home.” Nat reassured you and pulled you towards the living room.
“I’m going to take care of you.” You promised and kissed her again as she sat down on the sofa.
“I know you will and I will also take care of you.”
And so you did.
You ran her a hot bath with some salts and you set the bathroom to be all nice for her to relax in, and while she soaked in there you made her a homemade meal - some soup with freshly baked bread, an attempt on your part to give her comfort and coziness and help her relax.
You didn’t hear her sneak out of the bathroom just as you had taken the bread out of the oven. She wrapped her arms around you and pressed a kiss to your shoulder.
“You are my home.” She spoke softly.
“You are my home too, Nat.” You put the bread down and turned around to hug her.
“You always take care of me and I love you and I want to take care of you too.”
“I love you and I love taking care of you and it helps me feel better.”
“I know it does. But allow me to take care of you once in a while too.”
“Maybe not right after you’ve come back from a mission.” You teased.
“Maybe.” Nat half-smiled. “Yelena wants to meet you.”
“She is always welcome here.”
“I know.” Nat snuck another kiss.
“We are lucky.” You held her close to you.
“We are lucky.” She agreed.
You thanked whatever powers controlled everything for that luck because there she was - the most beautiful and kind woman on this planet, loving you and being accepting of your love. You two got to build a home together and despite the intensity of her lifestyle and the nature of her day to day, she still found a way to come back to you.
She was grateful for you - for your love, for your care, for your compassion. For the fact that you still chose her even though you could have anyone in the world. She was grateful that you stood by her through everything and despite everything. And she was determined to be there and show up again and again, and to make the world a better place for both of you.

Grief felt like her only companion.
The weight on her shoulders. The weight in her heart. The lump in her throat.
The haunting emptiness of the bed.
Where once had been laughter and joy and her life had been full of love. Aaren now faced aloneness because even though the world had moved on, her world had stopped, everything good in it had died.
She made her usual morning coffee in Natasha’s mug, gripping it as her beloved had once done herself. Natasha had rarely been one to slow down enough for a coffee but Aaren had convinced her that it is worth slowing down even for a few moments when the sun rose, to greet the day, to welcome the new beginning.
“I don’t have time for this, Aaren.” Nat insisted, too awake for having been up for such a short time.
“Then find time. We must honour the rising sun and the new beginning.” Aaren was just as stubborn.
**
When Thanos invaded the planet it seemed like it was the beginning of the end. For better or for worse, both Aaren and Natasha had managed to avoid the snap, but Aaren still had to deal with the consequences of the brutal actions and the havoc that ensued.
“We need to find Yelena, make sure that she is alright.” Natasha insisted, hellbent on making sure that the sister that she had reunited with not that long ago was safe and sound and convinced that with the right arguments, Yelena would be swayed to help them against Thanos.
Aaren’s efforts had been in vain and watching Nat become more and more heartbroken when her suspicions were confirmed that Yelena indeed had been snapped away… it had been devastating to watch.
Aaren withstood that. She weathered it, unflinching from her side.
“We are together, for better and for worse.” Aaren gripped Natasha’s hand.
Natasha, whose eyes were full of pain, looked at her beloved. The last person who hadn’t abandoned her. Her person.
And so they got married. A small ceremony, one attended only by the Avengers, with Tony officiating where the two promised to love and honour each other, for better or for worse. One last promise of devotion and support, the final time they’d give their hearts away.
Among all the chaos that Thanos had brought, among all that pain, there they stood, promising to love and cherish each other through it all.
Through it all amounted to five years. Five years of sleepless nights, of fights for refusing to take care of oneself.
“Do you have to be there?” Aaren had been terrified of losing Natasha but that doom loomed closer with the mad plan that the Avengers had hatched. Every time, every moment felt like it would be their last.
Had Aaren known what would be their last moment, she would have acted differently, she would have said so many things.
No. Those thoughts are pointless. She scolded herself.
“Yes, we have split into teams of two and we will go after the Infinity Stones. Clint needs me and I will be back before you know it, and when all of this is over, when Yelena is back and the world is put back to order, I will take my beautiful wife on a honeymoon and then we will buy a farm and live the quiet life you always dreamed of.” Natasha’s sweet promises were like a balm to Aaren’s soul.
“I don’t care about the farm or the quiet life.” Aaren insisted. “I care about you being back in my arms, safe and sound. We will figure the rest from there.” Aaren laid a soft kiss on her beloved’s forehead as the sun was starting to rise.
“If things go haywire, I have put away money and documents and some letters in the apartment for you. You will be taken care of regardless of whether or not I am here.” Nat held on to that last piece of her heart, almost tasting that it was the last time; that this would be their final goodbye.
“Nat…” Aaren tried.
“No. If I come back…”
“When you come back.” Aaren interrupted her.
“If I come back, we will spend the money together and embrace the quiet life. If not…”
“I love you, Natasha.” Aaren spoke softly. “Please come back to me.”
Tears were rolling down her face when the silence was broken by the ringing telephone. The one that never rang yet she kept charged in case someone needed her.
Clint.
Aaren’s heart hurt. Hesitantly, she picked up.
“Barton?”
“Ouch, where is the hello and I missed you?” His playful tone brought something that might have resembled a smile.
“What can I do for you?” The phone was used only for emergencies and she both hoped and dreaded that it might very well be one.
“Well, as much as I’d love to be calling you on a good occasion, I need help.” Clint cut to the chase.
“Yelena is here.”
Her knees started giving in and she could hear her heartbeat in her ears.
Yelena.
“Aaren?” She heard distantly from the phone. “Aaren, are you okay?”
“Are you lying?” Was all the woman managed.
“Why would I lie about this?”
“When did you find her? Why are you only now calling me?”
“She found me and she is out for my head. I figured that right now the only person in the world that could stop her is you.”
Yelena. Her best friend was back. She was getting a small piece of Natasha back with Yelena.
“Send me coordinates, I’ll meet you as soon as possible.” Aaren managed and hung up the phone, getting her bag from under the bed.
She could do it.
She threw open the closet doors and pulled out her suit, putting it away carefully in the bag.
**
Yelena was determined to end Barton. Determined to put him out of his misery for not taking care of her sister, for letting Aaren slip through the cracks. Aaren, whom she couldn't find a trace of anywhere. Aaren, who she thought might be dead too.
She watched Barton's apartment from across the street and contemplated the ways to kill him. Watched and thought of the irony of putting an arrow through his eye. Hawkeye killed by a stray arrow.
She toyed with one of her knives and watched Barton walk around his apartment, not a care in the world, as she contemplated his death. It wasn't until he walked over to the door that she fully concentrated.
A medium height figure with strawberry blonde hair walked in.
Yelena's heart skipped a beat, then another.
No way.
**
"You look good, thank you for coming on such short notice." Barton opened the door for Aaren. He was glad to see her despite the shitty circumstances, but a part of him felt like if Nat was watching from above, she would approve of this.
"You were always such a lousy liar." Aaren teased. "Where is she?"
"On the rooftop across the street, I have not acknowledged her presence."
"Good, I will deal with her."
Aaren inhaled shakily and took the few steps towards the window, her heart racing out of her chest. There she was, blonde hair tied in a braid, beige uniform intact, looking ready to kill. Her best friend. Her sister-in-law.
Aaren pointed at the rooftop and after a moment's hesitation, Yelena nodded.
Aaren then started walking towards the door.
"Thank you." She heard Clint say behind her.
By the time she made it to the building's roof, Yelena was already pacing.
"Hello." Aaren managed, snapping her out of it.
Yelena looked…grief stricken but also like nothing had happened. Aaren's mind became full of the noise of Nat's tears once she found out that Yelena too had been snapped. She had seen that grief mirrored on her better half's face.
"How could you do this?" Yelena snapped finally. "You were supposed to be her forever! You were supposed to protect her like she protected you! And you let her go off with him and die! You were supposed to protect her!"
It felt like all her wounds had been sliced open again. Every word, every hateful comment struck home. Every way that she had blamed herself crashed spiralling on her.
"I did." Aaren said quietly. "I did protect her. I protected her for five years, and the time before that. If I could, I'd take her place right now just so she could be back here. But it would invalidate her sacrifice. She did it to bring all those people back, to bring you back. She did it to protect all of us, her loved ones, one last time."
"You gave up." Yelena accused. "I could not find you, you gave up on everything."
"I breathe because I know she wants me to live, even if now my life is but an empty shell of what it used to be. I live because I know that if she saw me again even a second earlier than intended, she would be very disappointed."
"You can't stop me from killing him. He killed her!" Yelena raged.
"Killing him would be the last thing she wants. Killing him would dishonour her. Is that what you want, Lena?" Aaren used the name she used in the past for her best friend. When Yelena did not react, Aaren took a few steps towards her, shortening the distance between them.
"She wrote you a letter because she knew that you would be back." Aaren opened her jacket and carefully took out the letter. "She wanted you to have it in case something happened. I selfishly kept it until now and I am sorry for that."
Yelena looked at the paper and snatched it out of her friend's hands.
Yelena,
I hope this never finds you because I'd much rather say all these words in person. However, it would be my greatest regret if they go unsaid.
I am sorry for not protecting you better. Not that you ever needed my protection but you know.
I am so proud of you and I hope the fire you carried inside you since childhood always stays lit and that it warms, not burns people.
Please take care of Aaren for me. She loves you very much and through all this, she kept me sane and on track, and now when there is hope for us to get you back, I realize that I failed her. Please, take care of each other for me.
This is my last request from you.
Know this, Yelena. I have always loved you very deeply.  You are my sister and you always will be.
I am so proud of you.
She could not keep reading as everything became blurry from her tears. Aaren was sat on the floor, waiting, untypically quiet.
"Aaren.." Yelena let out a low noise.
"She loved you and she wanted you to have the fullest life." Aaren stood up, walked over to the spy and rested her hand on her shoulder. "Do it for her and don't let revenge eat you alive."
“I want to make him pay.” Yelena made the noise of a wounded animal. Aaren felt her heart hurt.
“He is atoning for his sins, trust me.” Aaren reassured her, knowing damn well just how hard Clint was on himself for letting Nat take the sacrifice. She could not erase his face from her memory when he came back without Natasha.
Aaren pulled out her phone and pressed play on a video taken on their wedding day. Nat, wearing a beautiful red gown, was smiling at the camera. The camera person had captured the day perfectly and had made sure that it was seen that they had left empty chairs from the people missing from the reception.
Natasha stood up from her chair at the table and clinked on the glass, looking down on the empty seat beside her.
“This day is almost perfect.” Nat started. “Almost, because many of our beloved ones are not here. Almost, because if this was a perfect world, then the maid of honour would be here and you would not be able to take the word from her. Almost perfect, because I miss my little sister too much.” Her voice cracked towards the end words. “But this toast is for you, Yelena. I know that one day we will be reunited again.”
Aaren turned off the phone, unable to look at more of that footage.
“Please, please stop this. Please come with me and let’s go visit her. Please come home, Yelena.” Aaren begged. “Please, I can’t do this anymore.”
Yelena put away the letter in her pocket and put away the knife before embracing her sister-in-law.
“I do this for you, and for her.” Yelena spoke finally, pulling away.
One last time you swayed her to your will, Nat. Aaren thought as she led Yelena away.
