Short video I made using bits and pieces of my artwork and comic pages, both old versions and current, in order to tell a bit of my main character's backstory. Most of these images will not be used in the final version, as I am redrawing everything from scratch and completely rewriting everything as I go.

These I don't consider major spoilers as this part of the story will be revealed within chapter 1, which has been written already, even if it hasn't been completed in comic format.

This was a bit of a fun edit, though simple, and an opportunity to revisit my old skills, since I was an AMV Editor years back.

Story behind the video:

Tybin, the young elven mercenary is seen sleeping alone. His sleep is often restless and filled with nightmares. These nightmares unfortunately are not always just dreams through. They are memories, traumatic and painful ones.

As a child, he knew nothing of the lives his parents had led, what they left behind in order to be together and have him. So, when that fateful night arrived and his family home was burned to the ground, Tybin was left frozen in shock and grief as everything was taken from him. His home was engulfed in flames, and his father was dead, body scattered across the wooden floorboards of the living room. His mother, in only her white nightdress, had stood between them both and a beautiful elven woman, cloaked from head to toe in black.

Not a sign of remorse was visible on the unknown woman's beautiful face--one that had oddly resembled his mother's. Those eyes had flickered to him--a child that could not have even been eight years old at the time (in human years), and then everything blacked out.

When he awoke, he found himself alone in the woods, face down in the surrounding grass. Confused, he had struggled to remember, not understanding how he could have ended up here, outside, especially during such late hours. He did recognize the area at least, and that alone had brought some relief, but the moment he sat up and turned to look back towards where his house was located, that relief was vanquished--put out immediately. Only grief and horror remained as he watched the flames in the distance, visible through the trees. Everything was gone. His home, his parents, her...

Everything was gone. Despite everything, life has changed, and he is no longer alone. A young human girl is there with open arms, and through her, Tybin begins to truly see that there is beauty and kindness still in this world, despite all the death and cruelty he has witnessed (and not just from his childhood). Trauma has left him uncertain and fearful of opening up, of trusting anyone, but his heart deep down longs for a place to belong. Marina just may be the door to finding that place.

Story synopsis:

A young half-elven knight strives to make a living and make his own place in the world, despite never feeling as if he belonged in it. With the fateful meeting of a young, runaway Princess, Tybin finds his life turned upside down once again when she hires him to be her bodyguard and then proceeds in dragging him with her on a crazy adventure--one that clearly was not what he originally signed up for.

Despite his reckless companion, Tybin finds a sense of companionship in her for the first time in years, and this journey of hers just might bring answer and resolution to a past he has long sense tried to bury.

This page is being revamped for my Comic, which has been renamed, "The Dragonian Knight", and all original Comics & Illustrations. Please be looking out for new works and updates.
