TABLE PLAN STRESS One of the most stressful things we hear about on a weekly basis is the struggles our couples have with table plans. The politics of who sits where and who can’t be near who. One of our biggest tips we tell our couples is ‘remember it is your day’ Unfortunately within any wedding there are guest and family struggles which is completely normal. So here are a few of our tips: 1. Don’t leave it to the last minute, make a start even before your rsvp’s have been returned. 2. Use table names instead of numbers so guests don’t have a feeling of there being a hierarchy. At the end of the day every guest is there because you’ve chosen your closest friends and family to share your special day. 3. Keep groups together where you can. Friends, family and work colleagues. 4. Place the guests on tables but don’t specify seats as ultimately guests will generally move their seats when they’ve found their table. Flexibility is also key as during the build up to your big day. We’ve known guests to drop out even the day before where their circumstances may change. Always remember it is your day. #tabletips #seatingplans #woodlandweddings #woodlandvenue #nostress #pickaseatnotaside (at The Dreys- wedding venue with accommodation) https://www.instagram.com/p/BqPdOJchevb/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1ul49fympiwrb

HANDFASTING This beautiful symbolic marriage ritual is believed to span several cultures dating back hundreds of years, known for being a spiritual nature related tradition. A lot of our couples that choose to have a woodland blessing opt for this beautiful tradition, and where better than within an ancient woodland. Jaz & Andy had the most magical ceremony and handfasting this year just as the woodland bluebells had started to pop through. There was something so breathtaking seeing the woodland spring to life as this gorgeous couple started their journey together ❤️ #woodlandblessing #handfasting #nature #bluebells #ancienttraditions #inthewoods #offgrid #woodlandstyle (at The Dreys- wedding venue with accommodation) https://www.instagram.com/p/BqHsV9SHY4g/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1nkucgvgwl2d0

MONDAY TIPS - Colour Palette. When we first meet our brides we always advise to start creating their personal mood board for their day. One of the most important parts to styling your wedding day is your colour palette. The best thing about a woodland wedding is that anything goes, so you can be as creative with your colour as you want. The key to it is choosing colour that suits you. We all have our favourite colour but choose several hues to tie into your day. This can come through in your floral arrangements, bridal party dresses, suits and detailing. Be as brave and bold or simplistic as you want, but always start your board with a base of colour choices. Remember, everything goes with green which is the predominant colour backdrop for your woodland wedding. #whatsyourcolour #succulenthues #tropicalpinks #richburgundyred #tealandrust #woodlandstyle #woodlandweddings #colourtips #createyourstyle Photos courtesy of Pinterest (at The Dreys- wedding venue with accommodation) https://www.instagram.com/p/BqE596XhrZV/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=11j36x4twonro

It’s all about the Festival!! Taking it back to Charlie & Rob’s festival wedding. When we first met This awesome couple we knew their day would be filled with fun and lots of love, and they didn’t disappoint. Rob proposed to Charlie at Glastonbury so their day was all about embracing the festival. They chose lots of fabulous colour, festival flags, home made signage, named tables and smoke bombs. It was just a joy to put together. The evening party didn’t disappoint either with various DJ’s playing the best floor fillers. This is why we love what we do ❤️ #festivalwedding #woodlandvenue #woodlandwedding #tribe #welovewhatwedo #inthewoods #love #festivalbride Permissions given by bride & groom Venue @thedreys Photography Dan Mortimer @apyture Florals @suedaviesflowers Dress @daughtersofsimone Styling @dollytomtom Props provided by bride & groom @charlie_pierpoint (at The Dreys- wedding venue with accommodation) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bp9Gqj_nQkF/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1s8eek2odtlld

Geoff & Emily
We met Geoff & Emily early 2017 before our marquee had been erected for the season.
From the first meeting we knew theirs would be special as they saw the vision of their day with very little to see, and their supplier choices were exciting.
Geoff & Emily had a woodland blessing at the Dreys on the most beautiful 1st day of June. The sun was glistening through the woodland that was just coming into leaf and all was looking crisp and new.
We knew from when Geoff arrived with his grooms party that it was going to be a beautifully relaxing day. He greeted their guests in the woodland clearing and the atmosphere was just so lovely. Geoff & Emily had chosen a blessing with us so they had a small private legal ceremony a few days before so they could make use of the whole Dreys venue and the woodland area.
Emily arrived with her bridal party and as she stepped out of the car she was a vision. Emily had chosen a beautiful hand embroidered two piece wedding dress from Needle & Thread London and her six stunning bridesmaids were in a mix of individual white shorter relaxed dresses in white that the bridesmaids had chosen to suit their individual style. The bride had chosen Sue Davies to provide the bridal florals with a relaxed hand tied bouquet filled with fresh varieties of eucalyptus, Hosta leaf, dried Alium and fresh white peony to name a few to perfectly compliment which was just stunning.
As Emily made her way to the blessing area we watched the sun beam and the atmosphere was magical as she met her husband and their son Teddy.
The blessing was an intimate and personal moment with a hand fasting and it was just perfect.
As the guests made their way from the blessing area to the main venue area they greeted the new Bride & Groom and little Teddy to a flurry of our dried flower confetti to be welcomed by their drinks reception and the most magnificent 12ft grazing table under our Ancient Beech Tree created by Grape & Fig. A plethora of cheese and meats with fresh honeycomb and artisan biscuits nestled amongst foliage and dressed to perfection, It was the perfect way to engage all their guests with a visual edible feast as an interactive alternative to canapés to accompany their welcome drinks.
The couple had chosen a simple and beautiful style to be included into the venue decor. Each table was individual and filled with fern leaf, euacalyptus individual herb plants and succulents and the long top table was adorned with a centrepiece to compliment with botanical bottles and dinner candles and our beautiful moss wall had a hand made Macrame hanging made by the grooms very talented sister @cozzacozza . Each table was named by a special place to the couple, the top table being The Dreys ❤️❤️❤️❤️
The guests were served a beautiful BBQ feast from the amazing @upinmygrill and the drinks, Quiz and speeches flowed.
As desert Grape & Fig had created a mouth watering desert table ‘oh where to start’!
The night began and the band started, the glitter table appeared, the bonfire was lit and the sparklers came out!
The pics from @scuffinsphoto perfectly capture their special day.
