Image Compositing
I wanted to create a new version of the type of photos that I have all over my Instagram already, using other images I’ve posted as well. I used a variety of photos from my camera roll, including holiday snaps, sunset photos, and a photo of bath bomb water.
Using the Quick Selection Tool and the Mask Tool in Adobe Photoshop CS6, I cut out elements from photos A, B, C, and D, before assembling them in a new document. Photo E was placed behind everything and manipulated to create the water. I used Adjustment Layers to brighten the image and saturate the colours

Before and After 1:
I wanted to do minimal editing to this photo, with the main goal being making the colours in the image stand out. Using the image adjustment layers found in the panel under the layers panel on the right side of the screen, I increased the Saturation of the image +20 and the Vibrance +17.
Before and After 2: The goal here was to make the dancer full colour and the background black and white. I used the Quick Selection Tool and the mask tool to isolate the dancer, then refined the edge, making the edges smoother. I then copied the original picture and using an adjustment layer, I made the background black and white. Using the Clone Stamp Tool, I covered the tip of the dancer’s finger right up the top of the picture.
Before and After 3: I wanted to change the colour of the centered flower without changing the colour of the entire image. Using the Quick Selection Tool, I selected the flower, careful to only select the one flower, not the ones around it. Then using the Paint Brush Tool, I selected “Multiply” as the blend mode of my brush, then choosing a colour, I “painted” over the flower.
