Things to know about this AU:

The timeline doesn't match up to the MCU itself in a number of ways.

Stephen Strange will be with them from the beginning though he's not the Sorcerer Supreme (yet) as the Ancient One isn't gone. She won't necessarily be a prominent character, however, as this will mostly take place in New York. She might pop in from time to time, however.

In many ways, Stephen Strange is still a pupil of the Ancient One as the zealots and Dormammu aren't really a thing in this verse. He still had his car accident that led to his injuries and seeking out of the Ancient One and the mystic arts.

That's not to say he doesn't learn some fun tricks with his magical training or that he doesn't learn about the Time Stone (aka the Eye of Agamotto) as he does.

Like Stephen Strange, Sam Wilson will be with the Avengers from the beginning.

The Olympians will also be fairly regular characters throughout the first half of this story. They'll end up helping the Avengers and Goddesses with getting ready for their ultimate battle with Thanos. They may or may not show up as often after Thanos's defeat.

We start with Thor's first movie for this verse but we don't go into The Avengers next. We actually move to The Winter Soldier before coming back to the Avengers.

Everything that happens before Thor is canon to this verse for the most part. This includes Captain America: The First Avenger, Iron Man, Iron Man 2, and the two Hulk movies.

We won't have Ultron or the Maximoff twins in this verse because Hydra will never get their hands on the Mind Stone. It goes back to its rightful holder, Sigyn, at the end of The Avengers arc for this story.

Civil War won't necessarily happen the way it did, either, due to the events of Ultron not being a thing. That's not to say some of those events won't make their way into this verse.

Infinity War (showdown with Thanos) will actually look more like Endgame with the Avengers working alongside the Guardians and the Goddesses.

Tony Stark and Pepper Potts aren't a thing in this verse, either.

Tony is soulmates with James Rhodes aka Rhodey in this verse.

Pepper and Tony are really close friends though, and she's always there to help where she can.

Tony still makes Pepper CEO of Stark Industries, but they're never an item.

Pepper will eventually marry and have a child with Happy Hogan.

While this story is about rewriting the MCU a bit, it's also about the soulmate aspect.

There's going to be ups and downs with each of the soulmate pairings/groupings within this story obviously.

We'll see them all struggle in their own ways.

My main focus will be on the canon x OC soulmate pairings/groupings, but that doesn't mean we won't see some of the others that I have outlined for this story.

I'm also hoping to incorporate where I can a bit more of the Olympians in this aspect as well.

This aspect will also lead to a few more arcs within the story that I hope to tell with all of them and how they grow closer together as they work to keep the world/universe safe.

Meet Sigyn Heimdalldottir

*Candace Patton is Sigyn's face claim.

About Her

Adopted daughter of Heimdall. Her birth father died in battle while serving Odin. Her mother also passes in her youth, which is how she ends up under Heimdall's care. That and her magical abilities to foresee the future.

Favored pupil of Frigga and her magical teachings.

Best friend and soulmate to Loki, an all-too-real ‘prank’ played on her by Eros during their childhood years and the reason why her charges (the Goddesses and Avengers) also have soulmates.

Can and will go toe-to-toe with Thor, the Warriors Three, and Lady Sif when they mess with Loki. Has even mouthed off to Odin a time or two when he comes down hard on Loki but not Thor.

Foresaw Thanos’s plan to decimate the universe and began her quest to stop him when Odin ignored her warnings in what would be the early 1900s on Midgard.

Designates herself protector of Midgard where she knows she’ll have the best chance of stopping Thanos based on her visions and flees there after confronting Odin.

Magic includes similar powers exhibited by Frigga and Loki with the added magic she’s learned from the Ancient One.

Holder of the Mind Stone, which is another reason why her charges are built the way they are, especially the Goddesses.

Does go to the Olympians for help and only gains the Goddess’s help to start since they didn’t mind defying Zeus’s orders, creating their Midgard/Earth counterparts. The other Gods will follow within the storyline, feeling bad they didn’t help to start with.

Meet Kendra Rumlow

About Her

Sister of Brock Rumlow.

Like Cat, she wasn’t kidnapped but given to Hydra by her brother to secure his position within the organization's ranks when she was 18.

Alias is Circe, Goddess of Magic.

Her powers let her turn her enemies into beasts of one form or another. She can be real creative with this power.

Soulmate is Stephen Strange.

Longs for the day Hydra no longer has any power after the horrors she and the other goddesses have suffered.

Shapeshifts mainly into a raven.

Magic glows green due to her affinity with the Time Stone.

Meet Cat Pierce

*Deborah Ann Woll is Cat's face claim.

About Her

Daughter of Alexander Pierce.

Unlike Chrissy, Leila, and Becca, Cat wasn't kidnapped but given to Hydra by her father when she turned 18.

Alias is Nyx, Goddess of Night.

Her magic enables her to put enemies to sleep, into a coma, and even death if she so chooses. It really depends on the control of her emotions at the time.

Soulmate is Natasha Romanoff.

Hates everything Hydra stands for and is willing to bring them down alongside her best friend, Kendra, and the other goddesses.

Shapeshifts mainly into a black cat.

Magic glows orange due to her affinity with the Soul Stone.

Meet Becca Barnes

*Hailee Steinfeld is the closest face to what I imagine Becca Barnes would be. Yes, I'm aware she's the new Hawkeye, but I don't care. Kate Bishop isn't part of this universe, so it's all good.

About Her

Great-niece of Bucky Barnes through his sister, Rebecca, who had an only child outside marriage, keeping the family name going. Named after her grandmother, she is the only daughter of her father, Rebecca's son.

Kidnapped by Hydra agents in the mid-90s during the whole Captain Marvel/Kree/Skrull incident when she tried to help with her powers.

Alias is Persephone, Goddess of Spring and Vegetation.

Her powers include producing flowers and other plants with various levels of deadliness and loveliness.

Soulmate is Bruce Banner.

Soulmate mark has Bruce’s name and the Hulk’s following behind a slash, which she finds interesting.

She’s probably the shyest of the group, but she’s no less fierce in her determination to take down Hydra and others who would hurt her found family.

Shapeshifts mainly into a rabbit.

Magic glows red due to her affinity with the Reality Stone.

About Her

Older sister of Clint Barton but appears younger due to her time under Hydra captivity.

Kidnapped by Hydra agents on her 18th birthday while she'd also been watching her younger brother, Clint, who'd been only 10 at the time.

Alias is Artemis, Goddess of the Hunt and the Wild.

She’s an expert markswoman, can conjure up arrows for her favored crossbow, and communicate with animals.

Fluent in ASL due to Clint’s partial deafness.

Soulmate is Sam Wilson.

Loyal best friend to Chrissy Stark.

Shapeshifts mainly into a peregrine falcon.

Magic glows blue due to her affinity with the Space Stone.

Meet Christine "Chrissy" Stark

About Her

Older sister of Tony Stark but appears younger due to her time under Hydra captivity.

Kidnapped December 16, 1991, by the Winter Soldier, who also killed her parents and stole her father’s new super soldier serum formula.

Alias is Athena, Goddess of War, Wisdom, and Invention.

Has impressive psionic abilities with a specialty for telepathy and telekinesis. Her magic is only limited by her imagination and the quickest to regenerate compared to the others.

Soulmates are Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes.

Her soulmate marks show her soulmates as Steve Rogers and Winter Soldier since that’s how they are first “introduced” to one another.

Shapeshifts mainly into a chocolate retriever and white cat.

Magic glows purple due to her affinity with the Power Stone.

General Goddess Information

None of them would exist without the Asgardian who foresaw Thanos's plans and raced to find some way to stop him. She's also the one responsible for 'creating' the Avengers as they bear her mark as well.

The Asgardian was able to do this with the help of some Olympian goddesses (same goddesses these OCs are named after) who defied Zeus's orders much like the Asgardian defied Odin's to ignore her visions. They are the reasons these humans have their powers alongside the Asgardian's possession of the Mind Stone, a gift given to her by the Loremaster himself during her younger years.

Each goddess will actually be tied to a specific Infinity Stone as well that will not only enhance but pairs well with their imbued powers given by the Olympians.

Becca Barnes - Reality Stone

Cat Pierce - Soul Stone

Kendra Rumlow - Time Stone

All were captives of Hydra at one point until their freedom during the final events of Thor. The first one was Chrissy Stark who is followed quite quickly by Leila Barton. It'll be a few years before the other three goddesses join them.

All have the ability to shapeshift alongside their main magical talents. Each one has a preferential animal, but they aren't necessarily limited to that animal.

All have Howard Stark’s super soldier serum running through them, enhancing their magic and other abilities, including agility, strength, and regeneration. They were given the serum rather than the so-called super soldiers that we learn about in CACW.

Like the Winter Soldier, they’re all cryo-frozen when they’re not either being experimented upon or used for Hydra’s whims. They're actually forgotten about in these chambers because they didn't stop fighting every time Hydra woke them.

Unlike the Winter Soldier, their minds were never wiped over and over to gain their complicity nor were they really 'programmed'. Hydra feared they'd forget how to use their magic and would make them unstable for their uses, so they had to find other means to keep the Goddesses in line.

AU Summary

Athena. Artemis. Persephone. Nyx. Circe. Human women made into enhanced beings inspired by the Olympians with the help of an Asgardian who foresaw the decimation Thanos plans to bring. Pursued and captured by Hydra upon learning of their powers, the women are ultimately held captive for years until their untimely release during the events of Thor. Reunited with the very Asgardian that helped create them, they're set on an adventure alongside their soulmates to take down some of Earth's mightiest threats: Hydra, Loki, and Thanos.
