Back on the Airwaves

After a hiatus I will be returning to the airwaves this Thursday, and every third Thursday of the month thereafter.  The BlackStarr show on Expres Radio has been one of Pragues most popular Hip Hop & RnB shows since its launch back in 2005.  Hosted by legendary Cz "Godfather of rap, Orion and his fellow PSH member Mike Trafik, the show has been at the forefront of the scene providing listeners with fresh new sounds and mixes.  

As of April 2014 the show underwent a revamp and will now have a new format.  The First Thursday of the month will feature Prague DJ, Jorgos dropping fresh Funk sounds alongside the regular hosts and the third Thursday will feature myself joining them for a British music special.  The UK Edition of the show will feature Hip Hop, Grime, Soul, Garage, 2Step, Wavy Instrumental music and much much more. Unrestricted from genre boundaries with future interviews and showcasing interesting new artists.  

Be sure to lock in from 2100 to 2300 this Thursday on 90.3FM in The Czech Republic or www.expresradio.cz from overseas

Back to the cassette tape

This coming Saturday marks twenty years since Nasir Jones released his seminal debut album "Illmatic" and brings with it a release of a remastered edition "Illmatic XX".  

This weekend at Coachella festival Nas performed the album and brought out special guests Jay Z & Diddy with Green Lantern on the boards.  Check the set in its entirety here

Jordan 2

This Saturday Nike drop the Air Jordan 2 Retro "Infrared 23" (385475-023).  The 2 was originally released in 1986 and this will be the first time (I think) that the infrared has found its way on to the model.  Alongside the (cadburys mini egg) speckled print across the toe and heel and premium black leather this is a fresh look for the Spring.

Rest in Peace

After being inducted in to the WWE Hall of Fame on Saturday night, appearing at Wrestlemania XXX on Sunday and giving a short promo on Raw Monday night The Ultimate Warrior passed away April 4 leaving his hotel in Arizona.  

The 2 time Intercontinental and 1 time World Heavyweight Champion known for his energetic entrances and crazy promos gave his last appearance on WWE Television this Monday with the following promo 

"No WWE talent becomes a legend on their own. Every man's heart one day beats its final beat. His lungs breathe their final breath. And if what that man did in his life makes the blood pulse through the body of others and makes them believe deeper in something larger than life then his essence, his spirit, will be immortalized. By the story tellers, by the loyalty, by the memory of those who honor him and make the running the man did live forever. You, you, you, you, you, you are the legend makers of Ultimate Warrior. In the back I see many potential legends. Some of them with warrior spirits. And you will do the same for them. You will decide if they lived with the passion and intensity. So much so that you will tell your stories and you will make them legends, as well. I am Ultimate Warrior. You are the Ultimate Warrior fans. And the spirit of the Ultimate Warrior will run forever!"'

Ultimate Warrior is survived by his wife and 2 young daughters.

Sonuba

I came across this EP from London living Estonian producer Sonuba when researching my trip to Japan and its been a mainstay in my playlist for at least the past 8 months.   

Yeah, its not new, it dropped back in Spring 2013, but with the current weather its perfectly listening for your Friday while you wait for the weekend to commence.

Korea
