This house. I kinda love it. The wood and stone 1970 home in Kirkland, IL deserves someone who will keep it original and take care of it. 2bds, 3ba, 2,500 sq ft, $495k. Look at this architectural masterpiece.
The roof from inside.
This flooring is made from large log rounds and river stones.
The owners have already moved out, so it's very empty and dark on the main floor. It needs a new family.
Down here is a large carpeted rec room with a wall-size stone fireplace.
Oh, how nice, they left some bar stools. (You know how I love when things convey.) What is that on the side of the bar- is that a game, or part of the bar?
In this little room that has doors to the garden, they left a bench that looks like it came off of a covered wagon, plus some wall decor.
There is also a lovely shower room. With guest towels.
The main living area is on the 2nd level. Beautiful demi-lune hall table and mirror.
And, a nice faux tree.
It's a very large open space. There is plenty of room for dining furniture. I hope they didn't just stage it, so all this stuff will be moved out. Nooooo! Look, there's even a little pumpkin on the table.
Another beautiful big fireplace.
And, look at the kitchen. What thick marble counters.
This is nice.
Quite a huge living space.
Very large primary bedroom is off the main living area.
It has a lovely stone en-suite.
Most of the rooms have access to the deck around the house. This is the 2nd bd.
It has a built-in desk.
And, a lovely en-suite.
From the deck, you can see the beautiful property, which includes a barn.
Look at how large the barn is. The barn can be used for horses or a workshop, plus the empty 2nd fl. has lots of potential. The little cabin has a fireplace and can be made into a guest house.
Looks like a place for a hoe-down, to me. It's huge.
The cabin's in rough shape, but it has electricity and a water source.
She is a beauty. 1886 Victorian located in the small village (Pop. 2,322) of Fort Plain, NY. 5bds, 3ba, $769,990. If she was anywhere else, she'd be over $1M. It's not too far from Schenectady, (my cousins grew up there - it was about 3hrs. away from NYC, but it was lovely), also it's about an hr. from the state capital of Albany. And, OMG, it comes FULLY FURNISHED!
As soon as you enter the main hall, you can see that it's absolutely perfectly preserved/restored. And, the exceptional millwork! Look at the delicate carving on the newel post.
The sitting room is fabulous. The home is absolutely elegant.
The home office is next. I can't believe that it comes w/the furnishings. This is stunning.
The library/music room. Is this gorgeous, or what?
The dining room. Look at that candle stand (I can't help but look at the furnishings, as well as the house!). The wainscoting and chandelier. The velvet draperies. The wallpapers.
The remodeled kitchen. Perfection. Seriously, all this for less than $800K? A professional had to do this. How cozy, sitting in front of the fireplace for meals.
Beautiful cabinetry w/all the conveniences, mixing the vintage look w/modern.
Look at this closet!
What a pretty bathroom. All new, and modern/vintage.
Dreamy 2nd fl.
The bedrooms are lovely.
Sitting room on the 2nd fl.
The wallpaper in all of the rooms are so elegant. Love the sink in here.
This incredible 1879 Victorian in Little Falls, NY would be over a $1M anywhere else. This is a bargain - 8bds, 3ba, $550K (cut $199K, b/c it hasn't sold- I posted it once before).
This entrance alone. Look at the tile on the outside, the wood on the interior. This wood is magnificent.
Original stairs and look at the etched glass in that door.
Look at the gothic feature over this fireplace. There are paintings on the side panels- incredible. The details in this home are stunning.
This sitting room is nice and light. Fancy gold ceiling detail.
The dining room is incredible- look at the walls, the fireplace, the wainscoting- is that another fireplace in the corner? Gorgeous wood ceiling, inlaid floors, this room is absolutely magnificent.
In the kitchen, they combined old and new. They made it light and cheerful, but look at the original stove. Amazing.
Beautiful original pantry. Wow.
Stained glass window and more gorgeous woodwork going up the stairs.
This large bedroom has plenty of room for 2 fireside chairs.
And, typical of Victorians, it still has the original sink in the room.
Lovely room with the typical bedroom fireplace. They usually have this exact same one in all the upstairs Victorian bedrooms.
Beautiful bedroom with an alcove.
Wonderful vintage bath. Look at the tub- definitely original.
Bath #2 was completely modernized. Love the pedestal sink and floor tiles.
Stairs to the 3rd level.
The upper bedrooms are pretty nice.
They're a little darker, but very Victorian.
Here's a cute attic sitting room.
And, the 3rd bath is up here. This is so vintage- look at the sink.
Look at that- it has a large sun room, too.
I wish that they would've shown the inside of the fabulous carriage house. This home is so worth the price.

Saveafox is now officially planning to rescue bears. On this Instagram post, under a video of her handfeeding a wild black bear, she says this:
From what I can tell, it seems that she was asked to take in two bears that have been in captivity their whole lives, and have been habituated to humans. She turned them down only because she is still busy with her current mission to buy out the furfarm. She explicitly explained that she WOULD like to house bears in the next few years.
This facility, by the way, handfeeds the wild bears. Mikayla explains that it was started as a way to keep bears out of campgrounds, by having a place with a reliable food source that they could go to instead. She also claims that handfeeding does not habituate the bears and that they are still scared of people whenever they are outside of this place. That doesn't sound right to me, but I'm no expert. My question, though, is why handfeed the bears in the first place? It would be just as effective to just leave food out for them. But that's not what this post is about, so I digress.
The point is, she is now planning to rescue bears. I cannot imagine a world in which this is a good idea.
This has, by the way, had exactly the expected effect:
