Clean Up Australia Day!! . Grabbed the OCA sacks, gloves and grabber tool and headed to Sherriff Park for this year's @cleanupaustralia day 🤙🏻 . Catching Swordfish . Haven't wet a line in a while, and the boys were keen to do so, only problem was we didn't have any gear. . Not to worry popped into @freddystownsville and they sorted us out with three @shimano.fish Combo FX 70 Telescopic and FX4000.... what does that mean 🤷‍♂️ who knows, but we can go fishing 🤣 . We adventured around to a few places Friday afternoon to try our luck but nothing hooked up so we made a full day of it on Saturday. . We had one decent on but with all the excitement someone didn't realise how close to surface it was and slingshot that bad boy off the hook back to the salty depths. . Overall it was a top fishing adventure 🤙 🎣 . Winds of Cancelations . Late Friday afternoon ferry trip across to Maggie Island and then straight on the bus to Horseshoe Bay. We checked into our @sailsonhorseshoe.com.au apartment which overlooked the bay. . Dinner that Friday Night was @sandisonmagnetic to dine on some fantastic local seafood and work our way through the cocktail menu, which Joel turned into a mission for the bar staff as he asked for “Any type of cocktail based around gin”..... They didn’t stumble either, delivering very lovely cocktails each time. . It wasn’t long into enjoying our feast of local seafood that we started to receive cancelation/rebooking messages for the activities we had booked for Saturday. We had thought this could happen when arriving at Horseshoe Bay as the wind was quite strong coming into the bay. . Unfortunate yes but not a problem. Saturday which was booked solid with activities that had now been cancelled turned into an epic bus tour around Maggie Island stopping at all the locations within proximity to the bus stop that we could eat and drink at. Adventures along some walking tracks and Snorkelling in the beautiful waters around the Island. . Sunday’s weather was on point and Horseshoe Bay came alive with markets and activities galore. Karen picked up a few Christmas gift bargains, and the boys tried out as many activities as they could. As the day went on and we watched the mass of jet skis be replaced with a mass of boats at the shoreline and then those started to disappear one by one we knew our Island weekend was drawing to an end. . Even though we had to change our plans for Saturday, this didn’t impact our enjoyment of the Adventure. We were happy to redirect those activity funds back into other local businesses who kept us with full bellies and cool drinks galore and smiles, laughs from the thrill-seeking pre-teen and teen. . Dinosaurs without hats!!! . October long weekend adventure had us in the Outback of Queensland looking for Dinosaurs!!! . Pulling into Allen Terry Caravan Park in Hughenden late Friday afternoon it was a slightly simple setup for us this time as we decided to swag it up. Unpacking #TheRoK took a few minutes and we had everything in place for a comfy little place to rest our weary bones. . Rolling out of the swags early Saturday morning, we reminded Joel that he had crept another year closer to retirement and handed him some amazing birthday presents, which for someone who doesn’t like birthdays and presents was very pleased. . The rest of the day had us adventuring around Hughenden and Richmond visiting all the street art, Dinosaur statues, Museums and town plaques learning some amazing things about the region. . Sunday in the car early making our way into Winton to take a tour of the @australianageofdinosaurs ,which needs to be on everyone's list to do as its incredible. We did the Ultimate Dinosaur tour which includes a guided tour of the Collection Room, Fossil Preparation Laboratory, the March of the Titanosaurs exhibition and a self-guided walk of Dinosaur Canyon. On the way back to camp we stopped at the Musical fence and added Winton to our return list as we didn’t get a chance to go to the @waltzingmatildacentre , Lark Quarry Dinosaur Stampede and others, but those will be for the next Adventure. . Monday was pack up day and out to Porcupine Gorge to view an amazing sight and point out some of the things we had learnt from our museum visits or tours. . So what is with our title for this adventure?? Quite simple really... We would have donned our heads with our awesome Barmah hats, the boys left them at home, so the saying for the whole weekend was “Do you know what would be good right now?.....Hats” . Dogs Adventures! . Do you ever just look at your dog and think, “The 20hrs a day you sleep looks so exhausting… I bet you need an adventure” . We did!.... Well sort of…. It was Labour day long weekend, so what's more fitting than being able to take your fur kid along for an adventure. . We popped back down to @alva_beach_tourist_park late friday afternoon to begin a relaxing Labour day weekend. We had a beautiful site just in front of the camp kitchen and it was a perfect spot, as it was two smaller sites close together, which was awesome as the old people joined us also. . With the weather turning it on all weekend, we got to enjoy: Early morning walks, Lunch Time Naps, Late Afternoon Walks, A conveyor belt of cheese and charcuterie boards, Gin and Tonics all day, Our yearly quota of “watch me do a wheelie” and the endless supply of biscuits with morning coffee.  . GOT MILK?....... Malanda Does! . Malanda QLD, located in the Atherton tablelands is not only known for its successful dairy industry but also gifted with beautiful panoramic views, wildlife like platypus and Tree Kangaroo’s, Rainforest walks and some stunning waterfalls just to name a few. . This Easter Holiday we made temporary home at @malandafallscaravan with good friends. Whilst at the CP the kids made the most of the facilities which included an animal nursery and plenty of space to whip around on the deadly treadly’s. . In between eating the continual provision of Cheese/Charcuterie Boards or the Mexican Fiesta Themed dinner night, we did get out to adventure the beautiful surrounds of Malanda. . Our Adventures saw us visiting the waterfall trail, surrounding lakes, Platypus Rock and the Beautiful   Cathedral Fig Tree to name a few. . We hope you too got to enjoy time with your family and friends this Easter on whatever Adventure you planned. Sad News Alert🤧😭💔 . On Friday 05 February 2021 our Big fur baby Xar was put to rest. . He had been living very comfortably since 2017 with a mild need for some medication after developing cancer. . Unfortunately over the past year his health was declining and as of that morning he was unable to use his legs properly. . 11 years he provided unconditional love and managed to steal a piece of everyone's heart who met him. . It has been difficult days getting use to him not being around, however helping Anni our other fury baby adjust has been making it easier as each day passes. . Plenty of cans to celebrate the New Year.... We mean CAIRNS. . After our Christmas adventures at Bowen we made our way up north to Cairns after swapping #TheRoK and #jessiejurgens and giving #LittleRoq its first adventure. . Staying in lovely serviced apartments at Trinity Beach we aimed to do some of those Cairns tourist musts. . Did a visit into Cairns city, the botanical gardens, a quick trip further north to Port Douglas and Hartleys Crocodile Adventures. . Before leaving we did an adventure out to Kuranda on the Skyrail, visiting Rainforestation Nature Park and returning on the Kuranda Scenic Railway. . We left some adventures for next time finishing off 2020 and beginning 2021 keen as ever for the next adventures to come. . Wind or Mango's, what's Bowen famous for? . We reckon both! along with 8 unique beaches, beautiful reefs, giant red star fish, turtle nesting, largest winter vegetable growing region, oldest town in the North, 150 year old jetty, 30+ Murals and parts where used in the movie Australia. To name a few. . Our Adventures around Bowen and surrounds was fairly subdued, as this Christmas break was aimed at relaxing and taking each day as they rolled in.
