One from my last week’s notes! Urinary incontinence and its abnormalities . Incontinence is any involuntary leakage. Can be due to dementia, posor mobility , acute illness or hospitalisation Normally during voiding , the intravesicular pressure increases causing the detrussor contraction and relaxation of sphincter , which allows flow of urine from bladder till emptying occurs. Also called as the pyramidal tracts, as they pass throught the pyramids in the medulla decussating to opposite side forming lateral spinal tracts. Some of these pass straight without decussation to form anterior spinal tracts . Commonly involved in fine motor movements of limbs of opposite side. What is a charcot’s artery and its significance? Hey ya! Here with another notes. Internal capsule is a compact bundle of fibres projecting between thalamus and caudate nucleus medially and lentiform nucleus laterally. It id responsible for sensory and motor innervation of opposite half of the body through its ascending and descending fibres - which is cause of widespread paralytic effects and sensory loss in opp half of body by even a very small lesion. The largest group of fibres include corticopontine fibres covering 2/3rd of total. The corticonuclear and corticospinal fibres are the purabidal fibres arising from cortex and relaying in LMN .
