SIMBLR SITE UPDATES PT2! 

We are more than excited to show off some of the small feats we have already accomplished in such a short time already! Design is still a work in progress but so far, so good with everything else! This update is on our Kickstarter and of course I'm posting it here just so everyone knows what’s going on! Save The Blogs!

Okay, folks. So. Tumblr’s jumped the shark in a big way, and I’m not even just talking about indiscriminately blocking all “adult” content on a platform that IS, in fact, primarily 18+.

Many blogs, like the wonderful @blackkatmagic , that are not especially NSFW have vanished.

(And I for one LIKE being able to go to curated porn blogs run by actual people and have a chance of finding stuff to my taste, it was one of the things that kept me on this hellsite, but that’s another issue entirely.)

I know lots of people are talking about migrating, but none of us are sure to where yet. Pillowfort seems to be an option, some people are talking about Twitter. But for now, it’s a mess, and even if we knew where we were going, it’s often a huge process, and a lot of us have stuff on tumblr that ONLY exists there. One possible quick solution to save your blogs, both NSFW and personal, is to import it to WordPress. I found this solution through from frantic googling on how to save an entire blog, text posts an all. There are several apps for downloading all the pictures from a tumblr, (Plently for Windows, but only a few paid ones for mac, of which Tumbelog Picture Downloader is working for me so far) but this is the only solution I’ve seen so far that allows you to save EVERYTHING. I downloaded my NSFW blog in like 10 min. My regular blog, which is significantly larger, is in the process of importing, but I don’t anticipate any problems. I will, of course, update you if I have any.

I put parenthesis around the .’s like we’re back in FF-Hell, just in case tumblr’s new thing about outgoing links kicks in. You know what to do.  To break it down, just in case:

 Sign up for a WordPress.com account at wordpress (.) com/start You’ll have to create an account, with your email, a username, and a password. They should send you a confirmation email immediately, check it, activate it, and you’re good to go. On the site, it will ask you for a site name. That page asks you a bunch of other information too, but you only have to fill out the site name.

Then you have to give your site a URL. If you’re lucky, your tumblr URL is still available, if not you’ll have to come up with another one, sorry.

It will tell you if that option is still available for free.

Then it will ask you to pick a plan. Free is really good enough, I swear.

Now you’re set up! You can import your tumblr! The only differences from the linked tutorial are that the Import button is now on the first level menu, not in tools.

Hit Import, then you have to follow the link for “other importers”  at the bottom, to find the option for Tumblr.

Then you’ll have to sign in with tumblr, using your normal tumblr credentials. You’ll be redirected there automatically. You’ll have to allow Wordpress permissions on your blog.

Then your blogs, including all your sideblogs, will show up in wordpress.

Hit import, wait a WHILE depending on the size of your blog, and you’re done!

I made my NSFW blog private for now, since I don’t know WP’s policy on NSFW.

This means that to access it, someone has to have an account and request access. But hey, part of our problem on this hellsite has been people going places they aren’t wanted, so I don’t personally see this as a bad thing. They can send a request from the landing site on your blog, you get an email, click a link in the email, and PRESTO, they have access. To make it private, go to Settings > Reading > Site Visibility. Go back and check, it took me changing the setting twice for it to actually stick. tl;dr, you can import your entire blog to wordpress in just a few steps.  I’m going to tag the hell out of this, in no particular order. PLEASE reblog this and spread the word so people know it’s an option. If you’re having trouble, PM me, and I’m happy to help.

Boroughsburg is an up-and-coming neighborhood in New York City that straddles the delicate line between working-class industrial grittiness and rarefied hipsterdom. Enjoy spectacular views of Manhattan from the waterfront, while live music, outdoor markets and art shows brighten atmospheric cobblestone streets and factories being transformed into trendy lofts and offices.

Not your stuff? You could always go for gyros, pierogies or matzo ball soup at the local diners, visit cultural centers, meet up with old timers and dance the night away.

So I was never quite satisfied with the Maxis city worlds in the sims series, and wanted something that felt like somewhere. Boroughsburg is a mashup of New York City’s DUMBO, Williamsburg, Greenpoint, Long Island City, and Astoria- but is open enough that you can build whatever bit of New York you want in it. But more importantly, it’s the cumulation of around almost two years of work- and I hope you’ll enjoy it!

Why didn’t I choose a more ‘New-Yorky’ location? It’s because these parts of town are probably the more ‘neighbourhood-like’, meaning that you get a nice combination of quiet areas and busier ones that feel the most realistic in TS3- otherwise you run into the ‘empty-world syndrome’ that plagues many Sims 3 city worlds. On top of that, I find the inner boroughs more fascinating in their endless subtle adaptations for daily survival in the metropolis, more so than the played-up theatrics you often find on your typical New York itinerary :)

Compact medium city world, 69 lots + 2 lots for divers

Mostly empty world with deco shells- only core lots are finished. This is called a ‘Let’s Build’ for a reason!

Should run smoothly on mid-high-tier computers.

Includes recolors & remeshes of the hot air balloon, train, police car, fire pickup, taxis, flags, moon, clouds and weather made specifically for a New York environment- if you want to see those in action, you will need to remove other replacement mods first.

Base game + LN spawners included.

Island Paradise compatible- docks and dive lots are provided.

A separate download includes an inspiration folder with some examples of buildings in each district, in case you were wondering what each district was inspired by (and what to build!). Also included is a map with world districts, appropriate addresses and lot sizes, along with sound emitter locations, sounds & offsets, if you want to replace those lots.

Installation instructions are included in the download folder. Please follow them carefully.

CC Notes

All custom-made CC is included in several packages. You must install them or else all you’ll get is an empty world!

Over two hundred new items made for this world, optimized for file size and game performance (with LODs). Some of them have been activated in the game catalogue since they’re also useful in many other situations. All in-game catalogue items have proper names and descriptions!

Further CC notes are located in the readme- note that two other mods are required (Buzzler’s Shell Emitter & Jynx’s Rabbitholes).

Expansions & Store Content

I tried to keep this pack to a minimum for expansions.

Late Night is required!

World Adventures is suggested- without it, you’ll miss out on the sounds that come with the subway train.

Content from Ambitions, University Life and Island Paradise is used, but the corresponding content packages have been included if you don’t have the expansions.

Content from Riverview and the ticket machine + turnstiles from the Ticket to Entry set are included as a package. Feel free to remove if you have the decrappified packages. The ticket machine is bugged and so you will need this Store Fix package.

I have a couple of gifts lying around that I have not shared as they don’t really fit into SbP. For this reason I have decided to make a little game for them. The purpose of the game is to get to know some other simmers in the community you may not have talked to before and to share some positivity!

This is how it works:

Below are 5 things you can do (you can do as many of these as you like!) and each lists a gift you will get if you complete it (all for TS3). Complete the task and make a post and tag it as #SimblrSimplyForFun. You can also send my tumblr SimplyImaginaryPeople your post and you will receive your gift! All posts will be reblogged to @simblrsimplyforfun so you guys can see!

1.      Ask 4 random simmers (you have never talked to before) if they would send you sims for collab pics and take a picture of their sim in your game. Make a post with all 4 collabs pictures on it to receive a special surprise gift (its the best one)! Two of the people you collab with YOU must have asked, the other two may be people who asked you to join in!

2.      Go into a random simmers (you must not have talked to them before!) IM (not asks!!!) and say hi then ask them 10 random questions about themselves (make them interesting!) and post these under a “I got to know….” Post to receive a folder with over 200 of my .sim files you can use as bases! No simple Yes/No questions either! You may interview the person who asked you back to also receive the gift!

3.      Ask a random simmer (you have never talked to before) to take some “Play Date” collab pictures with you and post these to receive some PSDs with lots of toddler skin details on them (including Juno’s)! If both of you take pictures then both of you get the gift!

4.      Ask a random simmer (you have never talked to before) and collab with them on something non-sims related! Both of you need to join in! For example draw a picture together, write a short story together etc. Post your collab to receive 53 recolorable patterns from our SbP designs for your game! Both of you will get the gift!

5.      Go into a random simmers (again you must not have talked to them before) inbox OFF ANON and send them a nice message about their blog (at least like 5 sentences!) Show me their reply post (once they post it publically) to receive an assortment of rugs, wallpaper and floors! You are not allowed to write about someone who has written about you!

6.     Mix some sims! Ask someone who you have not collabed with before, are not super good friends with and have not done another challenge with (but doesn’t need to be a total stranger this time but can be) to send you a sim of theirs then in CAS mix your sim and their sim together to create their child (any age and you may edit them in CAS) and post a picture tagging the other simmer to receive your gift of 40 adult makeup converted down for toddlers and kids (eyebags, eyeshadows, lipsticks mainly as blushes can just be enabled for tots/kids) !

7.     Write a little story! Collab with another simmer (whom you do not know but you may use someone you did another challenge with (except 6)!) to come up with a little story for your sims. It can be part of a story you are already writing, it can be a mini comic strip (at least 2 pictures and 500 words, or similar, ask if unsure). The point is to talk a little more to a simmer you don’t know that well yet and do a slightly more interactive collab. This includes pictures that fit to the story. One of you may write, the other may takes pictures if you like! As long as you both contribute :D Prize for this a skin!

8.     Write a little intro post about yourself. You can find the instructions for this challenge here! Don’t forget to tag your post. The prize for this challenge are 17 roofs converted from TS4!

9.     Do 1 collab (following rules for Challenge 1), Challenge 3, Challenge 6, Challenge 4, or Challenge 7 to win a skintone. You may do this challenge as many times as you wish to win as many skintones as you like. The skintones you can win can be previewed here and are tagged with “SSFF” before their name so you can see which are up as prizes! Other things you could do for this challenge include:

Edit a sim of theirs

Try to match their aesthetic! Ask them what they look for most in sims and try to make a sim that looks like it could be theirs!

Take someone elses sim and make them over to look like your style!

Fulfill a sim request

Make CC with/for someone

Draw someone else’s sim

Edit someones pictures (sims or RL) as long as its a full edit, so it actually takes a good bit of time

10.     By completing this challenge you unlock one skin for public download so that in the end you are doing something nice for the community! It works like this: at least 8 Simmers get together, you can know each other or not know each other, this time it doesn’t matter. You need to create a mini Magazine. It should be at least 7 pages long. You work together to do this, and once you post it, your group gets to pick one skin for ever 4 people taking part to release public (and you all get to pick another skin for yourself). The magazine can be anything you like, but I would find it cool if it was a bit community oriented. Maybe include pages like:

A picture of an interior design with links to the CC used

Short Tutorials on photoediting, sim making, decorating etc

Interviews with CC Creators or other Simmers

Collage of pictures from other simmers to depict diversity or some other theme (make sure to ask them if you can use your pictures!)

World explorations, so pics and text about cool worlds

CC collections with certain themes linking to the CC

Descriptions of simmer’s blogs that are cool to follow

How you put it together is up to you guys! RP ones are also totally cool if they have pages that help people like link to makeup etc. Like either an 8 photo tumblr post or as a “book” online somewhere. Again I am pretty open to whatever you guys wanna do! Just try to include some text, some pics, and work together :D

RULES:

Please don’t ruin the game and ask people you already know. You may not do 1,2,3,4,6 with the same person! You may however do one of the others with the person who messaged you in 5! You may do 7 with one of the people from 1,2,3,4,5! The point is to make new friends and spread the love! Please don’t reveal the special gift to people still playing. And PLEASE do not share the gifts!!

NOTE:

These points are pretty flexible, so:

None of this needs to be in english!

You may “edit” the points in a way that keeps it at the same level or higher. For example instead of collabing sims for 1. you could create a piece of CC together with someone else! This includes you teaching someone how to make CC etc. You may also collab on story posts so someone writes a chapter for you or vice versa. You are also allowed to create a sim for someone else! If you have other ideas of what you could do you can send me an IM and I will tell you if it works;)

For 4. it doesn’t need to be something creative. You could collab on a tutorial or so. You can also collab on a story post. The “non-sims” applies more to it not being a collab on making a sim or CC!

The gifts are for TS3, however the challenges can be done with any sims game!
