TheOneTrueVincent Reviews: We Bare Bears
It’s 2018 now and mid-January, now that I’m back to review, let’s start with my review of CN’s show We Bare Bears.
The General Info:
We Bare Bears is a Cartoon Network original by the mind of Daniel Chong before it became a show it was originally a webcomic called “The Three Bare Bears”, the comic only lasted to 2010 to 2011, I’ll still provide a link to at the end if you’re curious, even though it ended he still kept the concept of his comic until he was able to make a show out of the series thanks to CN
The show became a production of Cartoon Network Studios and the show was announced in 2014, the show first aired on July 27, 2015

The Creator:
Daniel Chong has done some interesting stuff in the animation world before he created We Bare Bears he use to work in studios like Pixar and Illumination Entertainment. He’s worked on stuff like Inside Out, Despicable Me 2, and some of the Toy Story animated shorts.
As for being a creator, We Bare Bears and the show’s specials are his only original shows
Check out his social media and other information about him:
His IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm5512802/
Twitter: https://twitter.com/threebarebears
and Tumblr: http://wedrawbears.tumblr.com/

What’s this show about?:
We Bare Bears follows three adoptive bear brothers, Grizz, Panda, and Ice Bear (Voiced in order Eric Edelstein, Bobby Moynihan, and Demetri Martin) trying to integrate themselves into human society doing stuff like making human friends, trying to become famous, and many other crazy ideas. Although they struggle sometimes due to the nature of human society and their animal instincts, in the end, they always know that they have each other no matter what.
There are also flashback episodes of the bears as cubs trying to find a home, there are only a few of the episodes and they’re stilling going along the main plot episodes as well.
The general flow of the show:
The show is generally a comedy mixed with a few moments of slice of life, most of the episodes involve the bears doing something, or getting into something they didn’t mean to get in and at that point, anything can happen. The jokes, for the most part, are pretty funny in that cute/relatable way. I think the humor of the show can be enjoyed by anyone at any age young, old, it’s funny.
The show, in general, has this cute, chill atmosphere around it, this goes for the characters too, the main three bears are great, Grizz is the energetic easy going one, he’s always ready to jump first for almost anything. Panda is the shy, neurotic, emotional one, for most people who watch the show say the Panda is the most relatable one, it mainly because Panda is super emotional and is super into nerd/geek culture. and Ice Bear is monotone, and in a way stoic, Ice Bear doesn’t talk that much and when he does he speaks in the third person one-liners, he emotionless and not too friendly to other people, except the bear’s friends, and is very protective of his brothers when in danger. All characters have something you’ll like even if you’re not the biggest of that character.
Other than that, that’s most of the show, the show isn’t plot-driven so you can jump in at almost any moment without almost needing any context for it.
Final Thoughts:
I love this show, it’s one of those shows you can always enjoy and have a good time with, I wouldn’t say We Bare Bears is an ABSOLUTE MUST WATCH NOW show. I would say if it’s on TV or you bored and need something to watch go check it out, maybe you’ll like it! That sums up what I have to say about We Bare Bears.
Fun Facts:
The show’s art style was inspired the like of Peanuts, Calvin and Hobbes, and Winnie the Pooh
The intro is sung by Estelle who voices Garnet from Steven Universe
The songs in the show itself were created my Chong himself and Brad Breeck who composes on Gravity Falls
The show’s soundtrack is also available on Breeck’s Soundcloud (Link Below)
We Bare Bears generally received good reviews, it has an 8.1 on IMDb

TheOneTrueVincent Reviews: Sonic Underground
Happy very late Christmas/New year, I know I’m late but better late than pregnant, So I decided, totally not last minute and fully planned it, that before the end of the year I would review everyone’s favorite cartoon from the best animation studio DIC Entertainment, Sonic Underground. I mean come on who doesn’t love watching Sonic for Christmas, So let’s get into it.

What’s up with this show?:
Sonic Underground, it’s the third animated show adapting Sega’s mascot Sonic The Hedgehog, the show was created by DIC Entertainment who are famous for shows like The Super Mario Super Show, Inspector Gadget, and Super Duper Sumos, even the original Sonic The Hedgehog cartoon, along with so many other memorable shows (I said memorable, not good).
The show came around when Sega asked DIC to make a new Sonic cartoon, this was at the same time Sega was making the Dreamcast, so it’s assumed they wanted a new cartoon to promote the console.
They already made the show bible back in March 1997 and was announced in December of the same year, The show wouldn’t actually air until January of 1999 in France, which only lasted for 18 episodes there. The US wouldn’t get it until August of the same year.
This show has a lot of production problems in general as we’re going to see right now because we are going to the creators/crew of the show.
The Crew:
When it came to looking up the crew of the show it was a mess, I’ve read that the production of this show was a mess for the writers, mainly because they were given such little time in general, but JEEZ! When it comes to a director, there were 4 of them, 3 of them only worked on 14 episodes each, while only 1 of them worked 24 episodes.
Of course like said earlier the writers got the worst of it if you check the writers for the show you’ll see that there was almost a different writer for each episode of the show, which watching the show you can really tell, which with that we can go into the actual show now.

The Premise:
*Note: Sonic Underground takes place in a different canon from any other Sonic media
Queen Aleena (Gail Webster), the former ruler of Mobius, get’s overthrown by the evil Doctor Robotnik (Garry Chalk) and takes over the world and forcing the Queen to go into hiding. To preserve the dynasty, she separated her children Sonic (Sam Vincent), Manic (Tyley Ross), and Sonia (Stevie Vallance) after an oracle told her a prophecy that she and her children would one day reunite with each other and defeat Robotnik. Years later, Sonic and his siblings group up and are given a quest from the oracle to search for their mother and rise against Robotnik once and for all.
The general feel:
Sonic Underground is a DIC Entertainment show, and if you are, in any way, familiar with any other shows from DIC you can already get an idea what this show is about. But in case not let’s discuss it, first, the animation, the animation is average at best and can be pretty terrible at other times. Like a lot of other DIC shows this show has a lot of animation errors that can either be the best or the worst, but regardless if you were alright with the style of SonicSatAM then it’s passable, but otherwise, you might not like it.
As for the actual characters and story, it’s well, alright I guess? It’s not the absolute worst thing in this show, the story is alright for a kid. As for adults, mostly for the people who didn’t grow up with this show, there’s not that much for them. The characters are fine, Sonic and Robotnik are almost the exact same as their SatAM counterparts if you like the characters in SatAM, then Underground is almost the same, only it doesn’t have any of the characters from SatAM, with only a few references maybe but other than that not much. As for Sonia and Manic, the other two leads, they’re meh at best it doesn’t really matter since these two are never coming back to any show. The plot is dumb and too confusing for its own sake, and for most episodes, nothing goes forward, they almost find their mom but not really, and fuck with Robotnik and his henchmen. and even then the show ends on a cliffhanger since the show got canceled before they could.
Also, one more thing I forgot to mention since Sonic and gang has magic instruments weapons and not just being freedom fighters but they’re also an underground band. Because of that, there has to be a song in every episode, to sum them up in one word: TERRIBLE.
Final thoughts:
I never grew up with SonicSatAM, but I did watch Sonic Underground when I was younger and absolutely loved it, it combined two of my favorite things at the time Sonic and rock (somewhat). But of course, when I grew older I realized “Wow, this is terrible”. After that, I never really watched it up until this review, and it’s still the same opinion for me
In the end, Sonic Underground is not a good show, I would say kids would like it and if you grew up with this show and still like it that’s fine, but if you’re expecting something amazing from this show, don’t.
Fun Facts:
GamesRadar called the show “The absolute worst Sonic moments”
Patrick Lee of The A.V. Club panned the series, calling it one of the most artistic failures to ever end up on television
The Sonic The Hedgehog comic had featured a story in a special issue in which the Sonic Underground continuity was featured

TheOneTrueVincent Reviews: The Amazing World of Gumball
Hello everyone! This is TheOneTrueVincent, and today I’m bringing you my review of Cartoon Network’s “The Amazing World of Gumball”

What is This Show?:
The Amazing World of Gumball (or TAWOG for short) is a popular comedy on Cartoon Network that was one of the few shows that helped the popularity of animated shows come back to the channel along with Adventure Time and Regular Show in 2011.
This show came to be when the Cartoon Network Development Studio Europe was made in 2007, The Creator, Ben Bocquelet, was hired to help people to pitch their idea to the studio. When the studio allowed their employees to pitch their ideas for shows Ben decided to take rejected advertisement characters he’ made and put them in a new series, the vice president of Original Series and Development at Turner was impressed by the idea and approved production for the series.

The Creator:
Like said earlier, the creator is Ben Bocquelet when it comes to what’s he’s done in animation, in general, there’s not that much. He’s worked on a couple of animated short films those being “Hell’s Kitchen” as co-writer and director and the other one being “The Little Short-Sighted Snake” as a designer. He hasn’t done very many original works but when the CN studio in Europe was made he did help other people pitch their originals ideas to the studio. a bit after that, like said earlier, He pitched an idea of making a comedy-family sitcom with a ton of rejected advertisement characters he’s made from his portfolio and the concept as well as the show got greenlit, making TAWOG his first ever animated tv series. Other than being the creator he’s a co-writer, executive producer, and is the art director, now let’s get into the actual show itself

The Premise:
The show follows a 12-year-old cat named Gumball and the weird, crazy, and wacky shenanigans in the fictional town of Elmore, along with him is his best friend/adopted brother Darwin and his other family members, Anais Gumball’s his intellectual younger sister, Richard Gumball’s lazy stay-at-home dad, and His workaholic mother Nicole. Gumball gets his family and fellow classmates at Elmore High into crazy events that can make anything happen in the end, and for them, that’s just a normal day in the town of Elmore.
The general feel:
The show is a comedy/family sitcom, the show mainly focuses on Gumball and the stuff he does with Darwin and other characters. The humor can be pretty funny and clever for the most part, there are not that many times where I get too bored of watching since there’s almost always something funny happening on the scene. As for the animation, it’s probably the most interesting thing about this show, the animation uses a technique called “Mixed Media”, the show doesn’t just have 2-D characters, it has characters of completely different art styles. Characters can be CG, some can stop motion, and some can be claymation. The show uses mixed media well, it never feels clustered or that it doesn’t fit, the characters in no matter what style feel like their apart of the world and they fit. The characters themselves are pretty funny too, and each and everyone brings something likable, funny, and sometimes even relatable at times, I feel like if you don’t like a character, there probably another character that you’ll like.
Major Criticisms:
The show doesn’t have that many problems as I can see, I think it just comes down to personal preferences on what you like or don’t like.
There’s only one thing I can criticize and that’s season 1, It’s not bad by all means but I think season 1 is not as good as the later season are.
and the only other thing I can talk about is how the art style for the 2-D changed in the first 3 seasons, but I would say it improved the show in general.
Final Thoughts:
I like TAWOG, I generally think this art wise is pretty cool, and as for humor I think it’s pretty funny, but it depends on the type of humor you like. In the end, Iike this show a lot and kind of think a lot more people should watch it, and you got to kind of respect it, similar to Adventure Time and Regular Show, this was one of the shows that brought back animation to CN, and without those shows we would probably still have that horrible CN Real thing
so if you looking for a good comedy with some interesting animation The Amazing World of Gumball might be up your alley
Fun Facts: ( A new segment I’m adding!)
Gumball’s, along with his other family members, last name is Watterson, a reference to Bill Watterson the creator of “Calvin and Hobbes”
The Show was originally going to be about remedial school for rejected cartoon characters, the producers thought the concept was too sad
The Show has gotten several awards over the last couple of years
TAWOG Is Cartoon Network UK’s first series
In season five, in the episode “The Boredom” featured characters from other CN shows such as Regular Show, Uncle Grandpa, and Clarence

TheOneTrueVincent Reviews: OK K.O.! Let’s be Heroes
Hello everyone! This is TheOneTrueVincent and I’m here to bring you my review of Cartoon Network’s newest show OK K.O.! Let’s be Heroes

OK K.O.! Let’s be Heroes is Cartoon Network’s new hit show, the show started out as a pilot called “Lakewood Plaza Turbo” back in 2013 among a few other pilots that soon got their own series on the channel itself such as Clarence and Steven Universe. As for Lakewood Plaza Turbo, it was presumed failed but it was only thought that because of a lack of information. Until 2016 where the show and was announced to come out soon and got 3 new shorts and a mobile phone game along with its new title name “OK K.O.”, of course, after that, the show came out on August 1, 2017, now let’s talk about the creator himself.

The Creator:
As for the creator, his name is Ian Jones-Quartey, other than making OK K.O. he’s done a quite a few roles in animation. He’s been a writer, storyboard artist and director, producer, as well as some voice acting in shows like Bravest Warriors, Steven Universe, and even in OK K.O. He’s worked on shows such as Venture Bros, Secret Mountain Fort Awesome, Adventure Time, and Steven Universe, and as for his original stuff, other than OK K.O., he’s only done a popular webcomic called “RPG World: The Comic That’s in a Game” and was co-creator for the web series “nockFORCE” along with Jim Gisriel (A movie reviewer and podcaster of the “Pizza Party Podcast”). OK K.O. being his first original cartoon to actually be on a channel, speaking of which let’s now get into the show.

What this show is about:
OK K.O! Let’s be Heroes takes place in the year 201X where everyone and their mother is a hero or a villain, we follow the adventures of a vibrant young boy named K.O. He inspires to be a great hero when he grows up, so he believes by the best way to do this is by getting a job at Gar’s Bodega, a hero supply shop ran by Mr.Gar (a no-nonsense amazing hero) at Lakewood Plaza. K.O manages to get the job and with his friends and co-workers Enid (a cool, levelheaded sister-like employee) and Rad ( a lazy, narcissistic big brotherly alien) go on crazy, wacky adventures, from fighting evil robots by Lord Boxman ( an evil villain who runs his factory “Boxmore” and hates Gar and anything that involves friendship) to keeping up on their duties at the Bodega, and to them it’s all in a day’s work to become great heroes.
The general feel of the show:
OK K.O. is an action/comedy show, but more comedy than action if we’re going, to be honest, the comedy is the best part of the show, the jokes are great and I would believe that both children and an older audience can laugh at these jokes, there are also a lot of jokes that make references to tons of stuff in media but we’ll go into that later. As for the action, it’s pretty cool, nothing to the levels of shonen anime or anything like that, but more like other cartoons something more PowerPuff Girls and Danny Phantom, but in the end, they’re pretty cool. In the end, the most important thing, in the end, are the characters, of course, I think the characters are funny and great. K.O. is a good main character he gives me that feeling of when I was a kid and loved all stuff superhero related and that feeling of just being an impressionable kid, Rad is pretty cool as well he’s lazy and full of himself but does care for his friends in the end, and as for Enid she’s amazing and the most relatable character in the show. Now let’s go into the major criticisms of the show. Major criticisms of the show: There aren’t that many problems with the show itself but there are a few people have pointed out a few things in the show, and these things in the show you can either love it or hate it.
The first thing is the off-model problem, this has happened in Steven Universe where certain characters go off-model depending on the scene ( going off-model means when a character has been drawn off par with the original source or model sheet). But I don’t think it’s that big of a problem in this show, OK K.O. is more of a comedy and can kind of get away with it since they use it for jokes. Where in Steven Universe it can be funny, it can off-putting as it depends on the scene itself.
The other thing is the show’s uses of references, OK K.O. makes tons of references to all sorts of other cartoons, anime, movies, etc. and often ask “are kids even going to get that reference?”, I understand where they’re coming from, but I don’t find that a problem of any sorts, I can enjoy the show without knowing the references they make, tons of shows in the past have done the same, We just didn’t know when we were kids and I would say it’s the same with kids today. I showed my 9 and 6-year-old brothers and they loved the show without knowing the references. I just think we notice this more often mainly because we’re grown up and the people making the show grew up around the same time as us and experienced a lot of the same media we watched.
But if you don’t mind these problems, then you’re fine, if not that’s fine we all don’t always like the same thing
Final Thoughts:
I love this show, I love the characters, love its humor, I love everything, OK K.O is my favorite show currently on CN at the moment and favorite cartoon of the year
OK K.O. is the type of show I’ve been waiting for on CN, it’s nice to take a break from CN constantly playing Teen Titans Go and seeing something new coming from the channel since a lot of the older shows are ending now. and OK K.O. is just the start of the new generation of cartoons on CN, and I hope it stays strong for years to come.
