Standing (L - R); Robert Goldschmidt, Max Planck, Heinrich Rubens, Louis de Broglie, Martin Knudsen, Friedrich Hasenöhrl, Georges Hostelet, Edouard Herzen, James Jeans, Ernest Rutherford, Kamerlingh Onnes, Albert Einstein and Paul Langevin.

The Solvay conference chaired by Hendrik Lorentz was on the theory of radiation and quanta and took place at the Hotel Metropole in Brussels, Belgium.
