Update
Wouldn't say I'm back but I am saying hello. It is 2024, 4 years after COVID-19, and I am around. I am considering rejoining the beauty realm but for now, I have backed off a little bit. My beauty boxes have closed up shop, so coming across them is incredibly hard and I have made purchases individually in the past couple of years. Should I come back to this, you'll know first as long as you follow!
Thanks, everyone! Happy Holidays!

Silicone and an update
Marc Anthony
OGX
Carol's Daughter
Aveeda
Aveno
Ouidad
Wen
Mizani
Bumble&Bumble
Miss Jessie
Cantu
Not all of the lines in a brand will have silicone but a bunch of them do. Following the silicone parade, there can also be sulfate (if that's your concern) and parabens. I worry most about silicone cause I have an allergy to it in certain hair products such as Mizani.
I’m still waiting to try:
Rizos Curls
Bounce Curl
What brand I currently use: Camille Rose Naturals (I don’t think I’m changing any time soon)
I also no longer heat style. I either spritz to refresh curls or do a wash. I also wear a ‘Slap’ from Grace Eleyae at night and it doubles as a beanie for during the day. 0 regrets.
And whatever you do, don’t use DevaCurl. Apparently women are losing their hair. I’ve only ever had a sample once, the smell was too strong and it used peppermint which is too strong for a sensitive scalp.
As always, I try these things so you don’t have to!

Welcome, Welcome
Hey everyone, it’s your favorite Demon Commander, Red! Welcome to The Painted Demon. This is a beauty blog for all things strange and average. I’ll be testing an array of things that I’ve either bought online or in store for my unfortunate test subject: my overly dry, sensitive skin. We’re talking super dry, constantly flaking no matter how many times more or less it is exfoliated, sensitive, irritated red from even the gentlest scrubbing skin.
Now a few things to clarify:
I am not endorsing anyone or any thing. This my hobby that fills me with glee and is done on my own time.
These products may work for you, they may not. I test them so you don’t have to - unless you really want to and that’s your own doing.
The products tested are bought with my own money or gifted by close friends and family.
So stay tuned. I’ll be working on some stuff shortly.

Unintentional Break
It is with my deepest apologies that I explain my disappearance. While we’re still on track with products (as I have them), I stopped and slowed down on the usage and testing of stuff because.... *Drum roll*
A mere 3 weeks ago, I went into surgery. Immediately after I was in the ICU for 5 days with a collapsed lung. They kept me under monitoring, debating if I would need another surgery - one for a chest tube. I was finally released on Father’s Day, last minute decision from a doctor even though I was not fully healed. I made an improvement enough to be sent home safely. Following that, I was in the ER as of this Sunday due to infection, and have a 3rd follow up on Thursday. I have been in and out of the hospital so much, I’m remembering faces.
It has been a hard few weeks and I have not forgotten about you lovelies and your beauty. Please accept my apologies for disappearing. My health is not at its peak and it’s taking me some time to get back into the step of things. Bear with me, I promise you we’ll be back and potentially better than ever. Please be patient.
Thank you!

And We’re Back!
Happy Summer everyone! Phew, I am done with another college semester, one that was not my brightest moment!
SO, let’s talk Beauty! As seen in my last post, I tried some things with my hair and we were finishing up the Beauty Bag from Beauteque. Honestly? The last item was the firming eye cream which produced no results what so ever. It couldn’t even remove wrinkles or dark circles. So...I may skip over that entirely.
AS FOR HAIR! Let me tell you! I am VERY excited to discover hair products that work for my hair! It’s truly a magical a day! While my curls are still completely out of control, my hair is SOFTER than what its ever been in my lifetime.
That said, I will go over these products here in the upcoming weeks. Also, I’m honestly debating cutting off my hair...like...buzz cut and just wearing wigs. Seriously debating it. I’m not sure if I should. I mean, I could...just to feel rebellious. We’ll see.
So that’s all for now! A brief update! I will dazzle you in the next post!

Plopping? The Fuck is THAT?
Basically you tie your wet hair in a t-shirt. It works for curly hair, straight hair should avoid it. I have curly/wavy - what they don’t tell you is that you should PROBABLY have long hair when you do it. Otherwise, you get a fohawk like me. Worst morning routine ever because combing it down and out wasn’t fun at all. Bright side? I kinda looked like I popped out of the Lion King Musical with the bright yellow t shirt I was using, and I can TOTALLY rock it.
Maybe I’ll just sleep on a t shirt for now. I have a satin bonnet as well but it feels like it’s doing nothing. Worst case scenario? I try out the silk pillow case scene and see if it helps my poor distraught hair.
My hair is low porosity which means the hair shafts are closed and tight together. Takes forever to absorb water. I’m probably a solid 2A while I’m at it I couldn’t tell you. I have no idea how to really judge and figure it out yet. Being a mixed chick (Native American, Asian, European), my hair has a severely confused identity. We’ll see what I can do with it. Currently it’s short, constantly dry (LIKE MY FACE!), and a pain in the ass.
I am doing the LOC Method - Leave in, Oil, Cream - I’ll explain what the hell that is supposed to mean ad do later. I picked some products and prayed! These are the things I’m using after my shower for styling purposes of my unruly hair:
Curl Junkie’s Curl Assurance Smoothing Lotion
Difeel Jojoba Oil
Camille Rose’s Almond Jai Twisting Butter
All three items smell ABSOLUTELY AMAZING and I got a decent amount of each product. My hair is SOFTER, a little crunchy but I’m learning to work in the amounts. I’m not having anything bad to say right now over the products. I’m having fun with them.
Currently I’m washing my hair with Suave’s coconut repairing shampoo and conditioner (the big gold bottle and it’s cheap!) but every so often I am washing with a clarifying called Elucence Volume Clarifying Shampoo. Due to being a low porosity, I have to clarify my hair from product build up. I’m a fan of the shampoo. I picked up a hair masque too called BioCare Labs Curls & Naturals Conditioning Repair Mask - which is thick, not too bad smelling, and softening as far as I can tell! My hair is a desert which needs to be watered.
All for now! We’ll cover some things here and there, pictures if I’m not lazy! Also expect me to be SLIGHTLY distracted. I bought some lovely stuff from Nyx for Easter time which means lipstick! Don’t let me be in Ulta...ever.
I will dazzle you in the next post!

As We Finish
As we finish the results of the Beauty Bag, stay tuned because we’re going to talk about HAIR. Lots of hair! Short, curly, wavy, you name it. I’ll give you my profile as far as my hair goes and the new hair products I just gained! I splurged, I’m excited, and everything smells good!

Kiss, Kiss, Shank, Shank
Mm lip balm, one of my least favorite items. This one is super cute, super thick, and doesn’t taste that great if you lick it. Tony Moly’s Kiss Kiss lip essence balm is as thick and numbing as honey was spread all over your mouth. Not my favorite and I will put almost anything on my lips (yuck it up, I’m not taking back that statement) which says a lot.

This lip balm is oh so clever and clique as it is in the shape of a set of lips! The top twists off and you remove the little plastic film. That’s it. The little pot of lip balm is an orange yellow color, almost like honey. Do not even think of licking your lips, biting them, having them kissed, nothing when you apply this. It’s sticky and unpleasant. You’re in for a nasty shock and so is your S.O!
Nothing fantastic to see here. You have to use your finger to apply the balm or a brush. A brush definitely helps in my opinion. I was...not amused with this balm. However, it is popular I suppose because you can purchase this in Ulta. I’m not quite sure how I feel about that. I feel indifferent or sour towards this product despite its cute packaging. Has anyone else tried this?

Face Spray?
Let’s talk about face spray.... in my Beauteque bag from February, I obtained Annie’s Way Calendula Softening Jelly Spray.
It’s the orange and clean box in my previous post but let me show it again here! Cute, no? All that’s inside was a little spray bottle which was...perplexing. Why the need for fancy packaging? I’ll never know.

So basically this is a face spray which served no purpose though I used it quite a bit. It’s refreshing to spray on your face but so is a water gun during summer time. The spray doesn’t have much fragrance but it’s nice. It’s “jelly” texture isn’t jelly at all but just sticky. Reminds me of when you accidentally get jelly on your hand when making a PB&J sandwich.
Recall how you lick off/wipe off the jelly and have that sticky after feel? Yeah, that’s what this spray is like. You’re supposed to pat the essence into your face. The serum briefly hydrates and softens my face for slight improvement but once it dries or you stop the treatment, your face will revert to normal. I saw no real difference - for better or for worse.
The vial is SO SMALL (which I may post pictures of later if you take interest), the lowest price I saw for this item was 9 bucks which doesn’t include tax or shipping. Completely not worth it. Fun to have but has no real value. I get the same feeling of refreshment when I use a water bottle in the summer - the misting sensation is where the pleasure lies. Can’t say I’ll ever get this again.
On another note: YOU CAN EXPERIENCE THIS ENTIRE BAG YOURSELF! Beauteque listened to how popular this bag was and for a limited time - for $35 - you can own this bag by purchasing it on their website. If this stuff is up your alley, go for it. Can’t say this is my favorite but hey, what works for me, might not work for you and vice versa.

Replacing Bath and Body Works...
So I was recently using this lotion that came from my February bag. It’s called ON: The Body Nourishing Body Lotion and it’s Cherry Blossom scented with a shea butter blending.

I have NEVER experienced a more authentic scented Cherry Blossom product until this one! It’s so natural, light, and invokes cherry blossoms instantly to mind. It’s pretty amazing. I use it for my arms and legs. My skin is super dry and I have a minor skin condition. I feel so smooth after slathering this lotion on after a real good shower. It’s not too firm and not too watery, glides easy and a small amount will get you far plus when it tries, it’s not sticky!
Downside is this product isn’t easily obtained. For now, Beauteque offers this lotion on their store. I’m not sure where else to land this product when it runs out. I tried to find this exact product and I couldn’t find it. There are others in the line, I discovered. I’m not sure if they’re just a change of scent or what. The shea blending seems to make it different and I can hardly find it. Bummer. I would like to keep it as my staple body lotion. That is saying a lot considering how I don’t particularly enjoy body lotions for the most part. If you can snag this, go for it. It is well worth it and it may just replace your Bath and Body Works line like it did mine.
So this was brief, straight forward and the like. No big deal. I’m on Spring Break and thought I’d pop in on how I’m using my stuff right now! I’ll be covering another product here in a few coming days. Everything in the bag should be covered soon.
All for now, my demons and demonettes!
