a memory:

When I got home I collapsed onto the couch. The crushing weight and realization that I was not my mother’s daughter, but a pawn in her twisted game of insecurity. Heaving heavy sobs escaped me. I was alone. I was not loved nor could I be. She could take everything from me and frame it as a gentle expression of concern for my wellbeing. I had finally fallen into the role I believe she had cast me in from the beginning and carefully laid the foundation for: The Scapegoat. And the audience would feel the pang of pity, as she laid her sins upon me and sent me off into the wilderness of my own psyche.
