This is an experimental canon marauders roleplay. This Regulus Black is based on what we know about canon R.A.B. in the Harry Potter books, alongside speculation. Here's a brief explanation of Regulus in canon:

So, basically, Regulus was Orion and Walburga's favorite because he followed their ideas and traditions, which included blood supremacy, racism, fascism, etc,

He had always looked up to Voldemort and wanted to be a Death Eater pretty much his entire life. He had a shrine of Voldemort, photos and articles about the Dark Lord and his followers, that he put up in his bedroom. He got his Dark Mark when he was about 16, even though his parent's were never Death Eaters he became one himself.

The reason he did go against Voldemort in the end was because of his house elf, not because he saw the wrong in what Voldy was doing, but because his house elf was in danger.

He was selfish, he followed his parents and Voldemort's belief. He was not a saint, he was not abused like Sirius, and he certainly wasn't everything you make him to be. He was a morally gray character.

I will add some headcanons based on this later on.
