Are you ok?

Yes, I am doing ok, thank you! Taking the time off was a little weird at first, but it definitively helped me a tons.

What have you been up to?

Getting back into routine, mostly. During the polls I was cutting my already limited sleeping schedule, so I could moderate better. I needed a good, long nap.

Then it came around to focus on my job and education, and giving myself a treat by indulging in some of comfort things. I read so much gothic literature, it was great.

How are your cats?

I don't know why so many people were aksing about them, but I will not complain lmao.

They are all good and being little balls of chaos. Morgana, my black cat, is going to have kittens so we are all equal parts excited and worried here!

Well, I am not sure if I'll continue. Real life has been getting in the way lately. I'll be entering my college exams week soon and working hours have been kinda crazy. But I would like to at least finish up the 2024 Polls.

Hello, everyone! I'm am sorry to be announcing that The Ship Wars will take an indefinitive pause. These polls have been a lot for me these past few day and I'll need a little mental health break to recover.

I've seen, yet again, very bad sportsmanship in some notes. And as pollrunner, I have to address this.

There was usage of slurs in a derrogatory way, and while reclaiming them to yourself is a empowering move, using them to insult others is not.

I have been noticing that almost every poll or tornament seems to have a variation of the "kill them" now. And for the most part, I'll say that I belive it is just hyperbole and jokes, but some people are uncomfortable with the proportions that it has been used. I won't be policing those, but death threats will be taken seriously.

And the Good Omens fandom has made me aware of some misgendering going on. From what I gathered, most of it was not out of malice and people just not engaging with the fandom to know this. But I genuinely don't wanna see any proposital misgender. As a nonbinary person, this is very triggering for me.

I am very sorry things have taken this proportions over the polls. There is nothing wrong with liking a ship better than another, but attacking others for this spoils the fun everyone was supposed to have.

I hope everyone can understand my need for a pause. Thank you for the support, I'll (maybe?) see you all soon.

i think what the good omens anon was trying to say about blocking is- blocking people is fine, but blocking someone just because they prefer a ship from ANOTHER FANDOM which isnt even toxic is just weird.

I don't think it is that black and white. People have diverse experiences in fandom spaces and end up interacting with different people, and sometimes people just don't vibe with a especific work or media.

It seems weird but that is the basics of curating your online experience.

I think they were talking about the other anon being blocked more than anon blocking the other party, tbh. Blocking isn't bad and doesn't need to be viewed that way.

But it is a bit unrealistic to expect people to go through the notes and do a block list when the post has so many notes.

To the Good Omens anon - as someone who isn’t even voting in that poll because I don’t know or care about either ship - get a grip. Blocking is not an act of aggression nor is it an act of harassment. It’s not “mean” or “possessive”. People are allowed to draw their own boundaries. Wouldn’t you rather they block you than attack you?

I agree that blocking is a useful feature to create your own experience online, and isn't inherently bad. But I think the other anon has a right to feel upset over some tags and comments, especially if it triggers them.

Some real worrying screenshots were sent my way, and if there is more around the notes, then it is for the best to let me know. I have no power over people, but I have previously stated rules that could potentially end this year's tournament.
