"Stop me if you've heard this one before - brilliant loner gets bitten by a radioactive spider, gains amazing abilities and ends up fighting crime. Yeah, I know, everyone's familiar with how Spider-Man's origin goes. Didn't think that'd end up describing my life too, is all." A Yahari Ore no Seishun Rabukome wa Machigatteiru"/"My Youth Romantic Comedy Is Wrong, As I Expected" story in which Hikigaya Hachiman gains the same powers as the Amazing Spider-Man, and how the world forever changes as a result.

SPIDER PROTECTOR (MK I)
A suit designed by the communal collaboration of the “coworkers” of a certain Enatsu Masaru, also known by his nom de guerre, Echo.
The measurements for the suit were obtained from Hikigaya Hachiman’s medical data, which was retrieved from Chiba Aoba Municipal Hospital’s servers by a master hacker. Said hacker then proceeded to alter the records to conceal the strange results for routine tests performed on an unconscious Hachiman. To leave such results without tampering could have jeopardized the boy’s identity, so it was done as a precautionary measure.
The suit itself is meant to be as practical as possible - the textiles utilized in its construction are resistant military-grade synthetics that are adequate to withstand both warm and cold climates (although the use of thermal underwear at lower temperatures is highly recommended).
The on-board electronics of the suit are located entirely within the mask. The two pieces to the side of the jaw are designated the “Chelicerae”, drawing their name from the jaw-like appendages actual spiders have. The left Chelicera contains most of the important components - aside from a miniature video camera and an embedded microphone, it also houses the Nano SIM which makes data communication possible via mobile network. Through a specially encrypted channel, Spider-Man is able to transmit a video feed of what he sees and hears to his support crew. The on-board radio antenna also allows Spider-Man to tune into radio frequencies used by police, fire departments, and other emergency services. However, the tuning must be configured by his support crew remotely.
The left Chelicera also houses the rechargeable lithium-ion battery that powers all of the mask’s electronic components. It can be conveniently charged via an USB Type-C connection. Just above the left Chelicera resides the mask’s earpiece.
The right Chelicera contains the Spider-Signal. It is the only component on this piece, in order to effectively contain and manage the heat produced by the powerful variable light. A discrete dial under the Chelicera allows to adjust the intensity of the beam.
Finally, the lenses contain an array of accelerometers and motion sensors that track the movement of the facial muscles around Hachiman’s eyes, allowing the lenses to effectively display the wearer’s expressions. Despite the lack of practical advantages provided by these components, Echo insisted this would further endear the populace to Spider-Man and allow him to create rapport with civilians in high-risk, high-stress scenarios.
(Echo later went on to add: “oh yeah, the shutter eyes might shield his eyes from flashbangs, or something).
The name of “Spider Protector” for the suit was derived from the Japanese Spider-Man live-action TV show broadcast in the 1970s, where the protagonist’s suit had the same name. Enatsu is, admittedly, a fan of the show.
The visual design of the suit was finalized by one of Echo’s “coworkers”, who had spent some years in art school before entering the military life.
The most impressive aspect of the suit is it’s very short production time - little over two weeks. Those who collaborated on its creation worked tirelessly to have it done so quickly - being all highly-trained counter-terrorist operatives, they appreciate the presence of Spider-Man out in the world, making it a little safer.
Of course, Hikigaya Hachiman is unaware of the great number of people who had a hand in the manufacture of his suit. If he did, he’d most likely physically assault Enatsu. As far as he knows, Masaru Enatsu put it together entirely on his own, re-purposing previously developed works of his (which, admittedly, is not entirely untrue, at least when the electronic components are concerned).
That said, among Echo’s coworkers, there is only one other person who knows Hikigaya Hachiman’s name. That would be talented hacker Grace Nam, for her services were required to obtain and alter Hachiman’s data in the first place.
