honestly my advice for people questioning if they're aro is kind of the same as my advice for people questioning if they're trans which is do less worrying about whether or not you inherently fall into this arbitrary category and do more considering what you want in and from your life. like ultimately deconstructing societal ideals of what relationships (or gender) should be like and figuring out what you want them to look like in your life is what matters and whether or not you experience romantic attraction is kind of immaterial

Holy shit, they got Voyager 1 working again!
15 billion miles away and NASA was able to tweak code packages on one of the onboard computers and it worked and Voyager 1 is sending signals back to earth for the first time since November.
Incredible!

“If a society puts half its children into short skirts and warns them not to move in ways that reveal their panties, while putting the other half into jeans and overalls and encouraging them to climb trees, play ball, and participate in other vigorous outdoor games; if later, during adolescence, the children who have been wearing trousers are urged to “eat like growing boys,” while the children in skirts are warned to watch their weight and not get fat; if the half in jeans runs around in sneakers or boots, while the half in skirts totters about on spike heels, then these two groups of people will be biologically as well as socially different. Their muscles will be different, as will their reflexes, posture, arms, legs and feet, hand-eye coordination, and so on. Similarly, people who spend eight hours a day in an office working at a typewriter or a visual display terminal will be biologically different from those who work on construction jobs. There is no way to sort the biological and social components that produce these differences. We cannot sort nature from nurture when we confront group differences in societies in which people from different races, classes, and sexes do not have equal access to resources and power, and therefore live in different environments. Sex-typed generalizations, such as that men are heavier, taller, or stronger than women, obscure the diversity among women and among men and the extensive overlaps between them… Most women and men fall within the same range of heights, weights, and strengths, three variables that depend a great deal on how we have grown up and live. We all know that first-generation Americans, on average, are taller than their immigrant parents and that men who do physical labor, on average, are stronger than male college professors. But we forget to look for the obvious reasons for differences when confronted with assertions like ‘Men are stronger than women.’ We should be asking: ‘Which men?’ and ‘What do they do?’ There may be biologically based average differences between women and men, but these are interwoven with a host of social differences from which we cannot disentangle them.”

Contemporary Japanese light novels and classic American sci-fi are basically evil opposites when it comes to their titling conventions: both titles will be long and rambling, but the former will be a prosaically descriptive phrase that lays out the story's entire premise, while the latter will be a line from a poem the author liked that tells you absolutely fucking nothing.

“I was feeling about as cheerio as was possible under the circs” gonna start incorporating this into my daily vocabulary on purpose. Instead of the Americanism “hanging in there” when people ask how I’m doing, I’ll just go “I’m feeling about as cheerio as possible under the circs.”

@post-uwuifer is maybe the funniest blog on the platform rn bc it’s obviously a bot 90% of the time and sometimes the owner logs in and responds to reblogs manually, but if you suspend your disbelief just enough it leads to the much funnier conclusion that it’s a bot 100% of the time and its responses are evidence that the algorithm has gained sentience but can only communicate through uwuified tumblr posts

I think detaching disgust from morality is one of the keys to Chilling Out. You can find inner peace by being able to go "hm! Gross" and recognize if it's an actual problem or not. Cause if it's not an actual problem... it's not your problem 🙏 god bless

I would kill to see a prequel series with the Hales-maybe young Talia before she had kids and became the an alpha and I want this because Bobby Finstock would be in high school and I know, in my black little heart, he was a Stiles. I just fucking know it. He plays it off like he doesn't know shit but he does. Also, I'd love to get clarification on Greenberg. The fan theory being he's a figment of coaches imagination doesn't jive with people knowing him, like how stiles mentions him.
Unless Greenberg is the only version of a vampire teen wolf has. It's like a non sparkly Edward Cullen staying in high school just to annoy one person and that makes me laugh. Everyone's been in school with Greenberg and no one ever notices that he never graduates except for Coach who has known him since he was a teenager doing his own version of a Stiles and Scott thing with Talia and Greenberg happened to be the unofficial third in their high school pack. Coach hates Greenberg's guts and its exactly because the vampire refuses to graduate.

The Second Coming
By William Butler Yeats (1865-1939), Written 1919
Turning and turning in the widening gyre    The falcon cannot hear the falconer; Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold; Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world, The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere    The ceremony of innocence is drowned; The best lack all conviction, while the worst    Are full of passionate intensity. Surely some revelation is at hand; Surely the Second Coming is at hand.    The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out    When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi Troubles my sight: somewhere in sands of the desert    A shape with lion body and the head of a man,    A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,    Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it    Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds.    The darkness drops again; but now I know    That twenty centuries of stony sleep Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,    And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,    Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?

Discworld is so delightful because you get lines like "When banks fail, it is seldom bankers who starve" except it's spoken by a 7 foot tall sentient clay statue named Pump 19 and directed to a man whose name is Moist von Lipwig

why am i not surprised that peter loves gossipy old women. of course he does, look at his mother. and of course he keeps one on his payroll for intelligence gathering.
gotta admit, though, i didn't call him comparing them to a renewable resource being mismanaged by the government though. that one was a surprise xD
