We are progressives

Refuse to vote!

Well I wouldn't vote for Hillary

And I couldn't vote for Biden

Cuz that geezer's hit the wall

And I won't accept an ally

If we disagree on anything 

And I'm not voting for Harris in the fall...!

And when minorities 

Beg us to do something 

We'll just tell them...

Yeah I love to harp on Gaza

But the fact that Trump would make the war

A hundred times more bloody 

Doesn't factor in at all!

I don't care about the outcome 

I just like some moral hand washing 

I'm fine if Trump takes over in the fall! 

Cuz we're progressives

Or not at all

"Let Israel finish the job!"

"But Harris supports Israel!"

Adult Who Does Their Research: "And Palestine! She wants to rebuild Gaza and get the Palestinians a free state! Can you imagine the waves that would send through that part of the world, if a WOMAN president was the one to help the Palestinians? The affect that could have on Afghanistan? Iran?

She can't magically end the war, but she cares about the Palestinians one hell of a lot more than the Islamophobic narcissist does!

And not to sound cold, but the war in Gaza is just a drop in the bucket of terrible things going on in the world that Trump can make a LOT worse! Not to mention everything here at home! Have you been following *any* other news?"

And I want to help the homeless

Just not enough to vote for them this fall!

Falling for scams does hurt people, actually

TW: Human trafficking, SA, torture, discussion of scam farms

I see a whole bunch of people arguing that they would rather risk giving to a scammer than ignore someone's gofundme. I also see people saying things like "I can't believe some sick people are profiteering off genocide" and like, me neither, but I feel like you guys really don't understand who actually runs these kinds of scams and what they are.

Scams of noticeable scale-- like scam asks being sent from hundreds of accounts to every user on Tumblr!-- are typically related to organised crime in poor countries, not Susan from Milwaukee who wants a new coat and has no scruples. People get trafficked by gangs to scam farms in Asia and Africa where they're worked to the bone and tortured trying to get idiots in wealthy countries to part with their money. Genocide profiteering is pretty much the least evil thing these people do.

Here's a UN article on it. Obvious warnings for content related to human trafficking and SA.

When you donate to a scammer, you fund these organisations and give them a reason to exist. It's possible some of the fundraisers are legit. I honestly find it unlikely given I'm not seeing any from any other countries where urgent fundraisers would seem to have great reason to exist but which haven't captured the same level of attention on Tumblr-- the number of Sudanese, Congolese, Ukrainian, Burmese or Uyghur fundraisers in my DMs is a fat 0. In any case, there are safer ways to help.

If you want to help (which is great!) you don't have to take the risk of paying for human trafficking. Donate to legitimate charities which have the resources to safely and effectively ensure the money and help is getting to the right people. Funding human trafficking rings in Myanmar is not a good risk to be taking while trying to help.

Saying we don’t want a ceasefire deal is just wrong. There are protests nationwide, school and most businesses are closed in protest.

~~~ Mermay 2017 ~~~

I really really wanted to get something done for Mermay, and while I had a few ideas in mind this was the one that got finished in time for the end of the month.  

This little fish lass is based on my favourite animated movie of all time, Yellow Submarine.  Her design is inspired by the titular sub and her name is Eleanor (as homage to another famous Beatles song ;) )

Had I more time I would have worked on her face.  I was aiming to get her looking similar to the human character designs in the movie but she comes off as a little creepy XD  Aw well, fits the film I suppose!

‘Beneath the waves, betwixt the worlds, in the middle of here and Pepperland swims a gentle giant mermaid.  A friend to seafarers and music makers.  Graceful as an ocean liner, gentle as the soft waves on a moonlit shore.  Quiet as the inky depths, illusive Eleanor.’ I’m not too late for MerMay!!!   It’s almost become a habit at this point to draw my beloved Eleanor for MerMay as she is my only mermaid and I love her so.  How can I not when her design is based on the Yellow Submarine?  I though it would be fun to replicate a screenshot from the Ghibli film Ponyo with Eleanor communing with the iconic sub and one of its famous passengers ^_^ (note this isn’t supposed to be any kind of strange shipping (pun intended) art.  Eleanor is just a curious gal who likes to hear news and insights from other worlds)

I have become fascinated by all the people who build homes specifically to rent out for weekends. Is it that lucrative? I found Keith and Jen’s Yellow Submarine- Most people choose to either rent out a room or their whole home, and some try to be unique, (you can’t imagine how many grain silos there are, now). And, there are many who do themes- some better than others.

This I like, however. It’s in New Zealand and is a real submarine. Here’s the living room. 

It’s cute, right? 

It has a little kitchen with a submariner that looks like a slightly creepy Beatle.

Notice the authentic equipment all intact throughout.

Up the ladder is a bedroom with a double bunk and what looks like a bench and a tub.

The steering mechanism is in the bedroom, too. No sonar, here- it has a regular window.

Next to the bedroom is the head. Look, it even has a torpedo. 

This is really nice, and so authentic.

I wouldn’t want to be under the water in it, but it’s cool on land.
