the fourth law of motion | 22k | E | One Piece
Pairing: Roronoa Zoro/Sanji
Tags: Alternate Universe - Space, Alternate Universe - Magic, Sirens, and other assorted beings, enemies to lovers on a technicality, Space Magic
Summary:
There’s a man sitting in the copilot’s chair, or at least something that looks like a man. His blond hair has an artful fall to it, and his eyes are the blue of the flickering hyperlight outside the shuttle cockpit. His suit could have come from any of the fashionable core worlds, all deep red and black, and the thin gloves cling to his hands. His curled eyebrows are drawn together, like he’s evaluating Zoro and doesn’t care for what he sees. He hadn’t been there a moment ago. ___ In physics, the first law of motion is inertia: an object in motion will stay in motion, and an object at rest will stay at rest, until acted upon by an outside force. The second law of motion is that applied force can be calculated by multiplying an object’s mass by its acceleration. The third law of motion is that every applied force will have an equal and opposite reaction. While other suggestions or amendments to these three principles have been proposed, none have ever been codified.

“cory booker is not actually accomplishing anything” I need you to stop being a pessimistic hag every second of ur life. u can be disillusioned. u can wish there was more done already. but this is SOMETHING!! he has broken the longest senate speech record and has been standing up for americans (and against a fascist racist oligarchy) for over 25 hours straight. hundreds of millions have and are watching him. HE is the news cycle. he is reading democratic and republican testimonies alike. people are hearing him, whether they chose to or are forced to!!!!!!! will it solve all our problems? no. but it is a Spark that will hopefully catch flame

Right now we are minutes away from Cory Booker holding the floor of the senate for 24 hours to speak into the record the wrongs committed by Trump and his government. This man has been talking since 7 pm last night with no food and no bathroom breaks and no sitting. He is standing there to bring attention to the rampant injustices we’ve all grown complacent with in just a few months. He is doing what elected officials should be doing not holding stupid signs and sitting in silence. This man is shouting all of our frustration into the face of those causing it. And now he’s been doing it for a full day.

I think my favorite genre of Zosan is Sanji being fully aware that he’s stupidly in love with/attracted to zoro and being absolutely pissed about it. I’m talking him standing on the deck 3 cigarettes in his mouth at a time mad as hell watching zoro do push up having a full psychotic break “stupid fucking Marimo with his stupid fucking tits looking so god damn lickable. Fuck him. wtf does he need more muscles for. Jesus fuck he’s beautiful. I’m gonna kick him overboard.” Like Tsundere on a molecular level.

So I just now learned about Stagecoach Mary and how have I never heard of this absolute LEGEND of a woman before
Tumblr media
She was born a slave and freed when the Emancipation Proclamation was issued (she was about 30)
She was about six feet tall and 200 pounds and once she was free she decided she’d never take shit from anyone ever again
When one of her close friends, a nun by the name of Mother Amadeus, became ill with pneumonia at her convent in Montana, Mary headed alone into the frontier to nurse Mother Amadeus back to health
After Mother Amadeus recovered, she gave Mary a job as the foreman of the convent. She repaired buildings, took care of chickens, made the long and dangerous journeys into town for supplies, and did other odd jobs.
She could drink most men under the table, and one saloon offered five bucks and a free shot of whiskey to any man who could take a punch to the face from Mary and remain standing.
She was once said by a local paper to have broken more noses than anyone else in Montana
She was outspokenly Republican, which at this time was the liberal party in America, and would get into political debates with the more conservative townsfolk
One time a man insulted her outside the saloon so hit him in the face with a rock, and only stopped when other cowboys held her back.
On one supply run into town, her wagon overturned and the horses fled. Mary spent all night single-handedly fending off a pack of wolves with her guns before she righted the heavy wagon by herself and tracked down the spooked horses. The only thing lost in the accident was a jar of molasses.
She lost her job at the convent when she got into a gunfight with a male employee who did not want to take orders from a black woman. She reportedly shot him in the ass, which angered the local bishop.
After losing her convent job, Mary spent a brief time running a restaurant, where she welcomed and served all comers
When a job for a mail carrier opened at the local US Post Office, Mary got the job because she managed to hitch six horses to a wagon faster than any of the male candidates
She was sixty at the time
This made her the first black woman mail carrier, and the second woman mail carrier in US history
When the snows were too deep for the horses to manage the long and dangerous delivery routes, Mary would strap on snowshoes, put the bags of mail on her shoulders, and do it herself
At one point she apparently had a pet eagle????
She only retired from the mail route when she was about 70 years old, and instead made a quieter living by babysitting and running a laundry business in the town of Cascade
She was a huge baseball fan and often gave the local team a big bouquet of flowers from her garden
The people of Cascade loved Mary so much that they closed the schools annually on her birthday
When a law was passed in Montana that forbade women from drinking in saloons, the mayor of Cascade granted Mary an exemption.
When her house burned down, the whole town got together to help her build a new one
She continued drinking, fighting, and going to baseball games until she died of liver failure at 82 in 1914

Your take on my post was fair, so I privated the post.
Genuine question: are we just expected not to be critical of the works we read? Or would you just say I was a bit too detailed in the rant I made.
I get the whole, ‘these are fan works written by unpaid artist for fun’ so we shouldn’t treat them like published works or expect them to be written like public works. Which is why I didn’t link to the fic.
But shouldn’t we also be able to authentically engage with them. Especially on our personal pages completely separate from where the work was originally posted.
Im asking cause I see a lot of discourse about this topic. I haven’t made up my mind on how I feel about it yet. So looking for different perspectives.
Personally I think that there isn’t a problem at all with being critical of a work, but I think there’s a difference between “I hate when a fic is incredibly well written but then it get ruined by a rush towards a sex scene” then a generalized explanation versus being very specific about the plot of the fic and pretty much naming it without naming it.
I used to post fics eons ago when I had more free time so I think that putting things out there is kinda saying to the world that you’re accepting of criticism because obviously not everyone is gonna like your stuff. But, if it were me, I do think it’s just a bit more respectful I guess if someone left the criticism directly in the fic comments or sent me a private message so that we can discuss and maybe I could improve as an author as opposed to stumbling across a very specific rant about my fic here under the Zosan tag.
But really my biggest issue was in retelling the whole plot so specifically because it’s really easy to figure out which fic you’re talking about and that would just turn people off from actually reading it in the first place. Our tastes are all subjective, what doesn’t work for you may work for someone else, and we can argue that it’s then up to the person reading your comment to decided to read the story themselves or not but I think we can all agree that people are easily influenced by what they hear from others and easily become dismissive of something without even trying just because they hear negative opinions. That’s kind of the basis of reviews in general.
I just think that if you are saying that the goal was the authentically engage then going to the source directly would be the best way to do that, in my experience a lot of fic writers are very receptive to criticism and genuinely love having a discussion on how they can improve.
