10 things i hate about you | eddie munson x reader
an: hi there lovelies! Apologies that i have taken such a long break from writing. I have recently finished university and with my dissertation and essays i ended up having no time to actually write anything worth while! for those that have stuck around, thank you for your patience and for those that are new, hi! This is essentially the full version of my earlier piece titles 'crush' that i posted months ago! i hope you enjoy and as always if there is anything i can do better please dont be shy to let me know!
“What’s got you all riled up this time, Munson?”
Gareth’s voice felt distant, drowned out by the sound that had been distracting Eddie since he stepped foot into the cafeteria. His eyes were fixed on the table a few feet away from his own domain. Populated by the slightly more socially acceptable nerds, they would probably be cool in college. All dressed in the same thick knit jumpers, deep blue denim flares, wild hair. He squinted, almost wincing as the sound seemed to grow to a crescendo. There you were, one hand clutching your stomach, close to tumbling out of your chair, the other hand covering your mouth and completely useless at muffling your laughter. it almost bubbled, tinkling and pouring, coating the rest of the usual lunchtime white noise in a thick syrup like blanket. The air had almost turned to honey, and nobody else seemed to notice. Tears were sliding down your face, glasses seconds away from falling off your nose. Eddie’s chest felt cramped, his face growing hotter when your eyes met his for a brief second.
“Not what, dear Gareth. But who.”
Eddie’s rivalry with you was well known throughout the Hellfire club. Although his reasonings were not as widely known, not even to Eddie. There was no definitive motive, no moment in time that started all this distaste. He simply didn’t like you. You had been aware of one another throughout your time at Hawkins middle and high school. Something about you had always given him a headache, made his palms itch, his overall being sweaty. All of this coming to a head when you accidentally walked in on a extremely important Hellfire meeting. You had cut your hair, it was shorter and your glasses had glowed in the low candlelight. He remembered distinctly the way you tripped over your words as you apologised, the glimmer in your eyes as you mentioned something about fire regulations. Your voice was teasing, pulling him out of his seat when he abruptly stood up. It had kept him awake at night, plaguing his dreams for weeks on end. Of course you occasionally caught his deathly glare, but it always softened slightly. The usual cold brown some how warming. You had just figured he was glaring at the jocks that sat a two table’s over. Of course you were unaware of your rivalry with the infamous dungeon master. Totally clueless.
“Is this about Temple of Doom again man? I don’t get why you don’t just bring it up with Keith.”
Eddie couldn’t quite believe that you worked at Family Video. For so long it had been a place of safety and comfort, until he had walked in to find you sorting through the horror section and chatting away to Robin. You were chewing on gum, from the looks of the lurid pink it was watermelon flavour, his favourite. He had never seen you with your hair tied back, little strands falling about your face and practically begging to be pushed back behind your ears. Robin and Steve had actually got a bit worried when they didn’t see him every afternoon like usual, quickly picking up on the fact he only came in when you weren’t working. Eddie had been going in virtually everyday asking after the new Indiana Jones movie. He was convinced you had somehow figured out he wanted it, and cooked up some plan to keep it from him. But Steve told him the actual truth, that you had booked it for three weeks specially for Dustin’s birthday. “Personally i couldnt watch a film that many times but…well you know Henderson.” Eddie had nodded absentmindedly, his eyes glazed over with a strange look. “How does she know Dustin?” His voice had sounded strained, piquing Steve’s interest as he raised an eyebrow. “She’s his babysitter, his actual official babysitter. Has been since I’ve known the kid.” Eddie had only known Dustin a month or so at that point, but it did something to his chest knowing that you cared that much. He continued to complain to Gareth about you, of course…to keep up appearances. But something was different.
“What? Oh no that…thats sorted now.”
That was another thing that he hated, you were always doing stupidly kind things for people for no apparent reason. A week or so after mentioning the whole Temple of Doom saga to Harrington, Eddie had been, as he described it, accosted in the student carpark. He had just pulled up, giving himself five minutes before dragging himself to English where you would surely be already waiting. On top of everything you shared quite a few classes with Eddie, meaning he didn’t really ever get a chance of not being around you. He always knew when you were coming, the telltale smell of coffee that had too much cinnamon and not enough sugar intermingling with your vanilla perfume seemed to surround you. Drifting down the halls, clinging to your locker, english books, pens. He knew this because you often let him borrow a pen and a spare book when he forgot them. But that morning he was surrounded before he had chance to prepare himself. A blush had attacked his face, tinging his ears that luckily were hidden under his mop of curls when you appeared suddenly in front of him. Eddie had watched you eye the cigarette in his hand, caught in the way you inhaled a little deeper, breathed out a little slower. He was left illiterate, only managing to just keep his cool whilst he raised a ever bored eyebrow in your general direction. He had smirked when you sighed, rolling your eyes and shoving the box towards him. “Steve mentioned you were ‘hankering’ for this. Technically i still have it for another four days but…i think if Dusty watches it one more time the tape will break. It’s all yours.” You hadn’t even waited for a thank you, already turning on your heel and walking away. Leaving Eddie with his mouth open, cig caught on his lip and smoke tumbling out of his mouth. He hated the way you left him feeling, all red in the face, heart racing, like an idiot.
“So, what’s the problem?”
Eddie was certain he hated you, was completely convinced of the fact that there was a high chance of you hating him too. But after the past few months, after being forced to actually spend more than the usual minimal amount of time with you, hate didn’t feel like the right word. You treated Dustin like a little brother, actually all the kids clearly looked up to you. You were always on time for picking him up, but never complained about staying a little later. Eddie found himself loving those sessions more than anything, sneaking glances at you as you watched wide eyed at the world of Hellfire. But he had hated you, all through school he had found every inch of you irritating. From the little crop tops you wore in summer to the grandpa jumpers that appeared in the winter. He had hated you for the way you made him feel. Setting him alight every time you were near, making his stomach twist and churn when you caught his eye, god help him if you ever spoke to him properly. And yet…and yet all that was changing. He hadn’t even realised it until Erica had made a pointed comment after catching Eddie drooling over you during one of the later Hellfire meetings. “Are you just gonna sit there all goo-goo eyed over Dustin’s babysitter or are we actually gonna play, I’m missing a key episode of MLP for this yknow?”
“It’s…complicated.”
A few days prior, Eddie had passed you on your walk home from work. He had been driving back from a gig at the hideout, his headlights illuminating the downpour as he slowly made his way back through Hawkins when he spotted you. You were drenched, hair sticking to you face, clothes practically moulded to your body, shoes sodden and squelching on the pavement. At first he had just drove past, only making it a few feet up the street before he reversed back down the road. Robin and Steve had taken the afternoon off to take Dustin to some science fair with Mike and Lucas. Leaving just you and Keith to lock up. Usually you were fine with that, but it left you with no ride home as on that particular day your own car was at the garage. A perfect storm, resulting in you having to brave the autumn downpour on the thirty minute walk home. “Are you crazy?!” Eddie’s voice had scared you, nearly making you slip as you turned to see him staring at you wide eyed from the safety of his van. Eddie watched you turned your face towards the sky, a soft smile taking over the weak frown on his face as you basked in the downpour. “Possibly!” You grinned as you yelled back, an awkward moment growing with you only getting wetter as Eddie struggled to find the words. “Are you offering me a ride or not Munson? Not that it isn’t lovely to chat but uh…” He barely nodded but it was enough for you to run round and jump into the passenger seat. Eddie had glanced at you, frozen and suddenly unaware as to what to even say never mind do. He worried he had forgotten how to drive under your stare. “Theres…theres a spare t-shirt in the back if you…want a dry one?” You had forgotten all about your wet clothes after getting into the warmth of Eddie’s van. The shock of realising just how see through your white crop top had gone making you laugh as you happily accepted a new shirt.
“How could it possibly be more complicated?”
The whole drive back to your house Eddie had felt..strained. He could feel your eyes on him, the gentle burning of them making the van feel uncomfortably warm. Every few seconds he let himself look at you, his breathe quickly being stolen as the sight of you wearing his shirt. A ‘Corroded Coffin’ shirt to be exact. He felt like his head was going to explode, and then you started talking and that only made everything worse. You were trying to fill the silence, not able to bare the awkward quiet. You were rambling, a habit you and Robin seemed to share. Going on about work, looking after Dustin, the latest project for English, whatever film you and your friends were going to see at the weekend. Eddie was drumming his fingers, scrunching his nose and dragging a hand through his hair as he forced himself to focus on the road. A frown on his face that he had perfected for when he was alone with you. “Sorry, am i annoying you Munson?” You had noticed more and more that not only was Eddie not listening but he purposefully was ignoring you. He had done this a few times in the past, but never so blatantly. Eddie was weird, but you had also seen the caring and lovable side of him over the weeks he had spent with Dustin. So why did you get the cold shoulder? For a second those hardened brown eyes melted to chocolate buttons, glancing over at you as if finally caught in the headlights. “You were rambling, and I’m…im trying to focus on the road so we don’t crash. I dont really want to die with you in the car, princess.”
“It’s just…theres…we uh…there uh…”
The lunch that had been sat in front of Eddie continued to grow cold. Gareths stare only hardening as he noticed a strange glazed look coat Munsons usual death cold glare. Eddie replayed the night in his head. The silence that followed his use of ‘princess’ , the painful wince that had flooded his system as he realised what he had said. The look on your face when he had finally worked up the courage to face you. Your face was hard to read, blank almost whilst trying to process what had just happened. Eddie Munson. Eddie ‘the freak’ Munson had just referred to you as princess, whilst he was giving you a ride home, wearing his bands shirt and from the smell of it, it had been worn by Eddie a few times over. The rest of the journey was haunted by a heated silence that came to a grateful end when the van came to a stop outside your home. Eddie remembered you’re stutter, committed it to damn memory as if one day it would save his life. “Thanks for the ride Munson, I uh, well i guess i owe you one.” There was a cheeky tinge to your words, only made clear by the small smile you sent his way. “I’m keeping this shirt by the way…until next time sugar.” Eddie had watched you walk into your house, his hands gripping the wheel with the might of Thor. He could practically hear his heart in his chest, feel the blood rushing around his body. He couldnt sleep that night, or the night after. He couldnt even focus on DnD. All he could think about was that little smile, the way you fitted his shirt like it already belonged to you, how normal it felt to have you by his side.
“Theres been a disturbance in the force of something man.”
Gareth dropped the sandwich he had been happily enjoying whilst Eddie stared off into the distance. He knew all too well what that meant for Munson. The freak was in some dangerous waters. And if the stolen glances you had ben sneaking over at Eddie meant anything, so were you.

crush | eddie munson x reader
a/n: hello lovelies! sorry i've been gone for so long! i started back at uni and have been far too busy. this is sort of a snippet to something bigger that i might be working on ;). Let me know if you like it and want more! ALSO i have absolutely no knowledge on anything DnD so the character boards thing is 100% completely wrong and all i can say is sorry loves!
“Eddie, Eds, Hey idiot are you even listening to me!?”
In truth Eddie had heard Gareth. He had heard him speaking for the last ten minutes about the newest edition of dungeons and dragons that was being released, this time with added character boards. He had even heard him as he painfully tried to pull him back into reality, but nothing was going to work. Not this time. Not when all Eddie could focus on was a certain someone trying her best not to fall out of her chair as she leaned all the way back, hands covering her mouth as she desperately attempted to stop her laughter from filling the lunch hall. His eyes were focused on the way her eyes squeezed shut behind her stupid dorky glasses that always seems to be on the precipice of falling off her nose. The sound of her laughter, no matter how muffled always had a way of clearing his head, of making his chest feel cramped, of bringing a certain kind of smile to his face that hadn’t been there since he first discovered Metallica.
“Huh, what? Of course I’m listening man.”
Gareth wasn’t an idiot. He was all too aware that his best friend had been concerning himself with a certain somebody rather than listen to him. For the past few weeks he had caught Eddie sneaking glances or just plain staring at the table a couple rows over. It was populated by the slightly more socially acceptable nerds who ran the Hawkins High radio station. They all dressed in the same thick knit jumpers, deep blue denim flares, in the summer they traded their layers for dungarees, they all had wild hair and too many rings. They were the kids that they got on with but still liked to make fun of sometimes. The pretentious film kids that were going to be cool at college and were all too aware of it. Amongst them was the one person that had ever successfully managed to shut Eddie Munson up.
“Really, because it looks like you’re pretty focused on Pretty in Pink over there.”
Within seconds the glassy lavender haze that smothered Eddie’s eyes whenever he was in his head had vanished and was replaced with an unusually defensive stare. He huffed, running his hands over his face as he tried in vain to hide the blush that had prickled up over his cheeks. Gareth couldn’t help but roll his eyes. This had been going on for weeks now, ever since Eddie found out she was the one that had organised the rock and roll takeover for the radio. Every lunch time started and ended in the same way. They would start talking, everything would be normal and dandy and for a few precious minutes he would have his full undivided attention. And then slowly but surely, like clockwork Eddie’s gaze would drift over to that table and he would be lost until the bell rang.
“Pretty! Man, I don’t know what your even talking about.”
Eddie did. Of course he did. He was the most obvious person in the world. He wore his heart on his sleeve and couldn’t for the life of him hide who he was. Gareth had known him long enough to be able to read him like a book. Normally he didn’t mind, it was actually helpful having someone he didn’t need to explain everything to. But now he felt like a deer in the headlights. Caught and unable to run away from Gareth’s all knowing stare. If only he knew the full extent of it.

two idiots | eddie munson x reader
summary: it's movie night, halloween is coming up, and two idiots are hopelessly in love.
a/n: hi there lovelies! sorry its been a few days since my last post. i just want to say a massive thank you for all the love! this is just a silly one, major fluff warnings. also i've been struggling wit a bit of burnout recently, but this is such a cute idea i couldnt not at least try and write it. hope you enjoy!
Family Video was quiet, save for a few stragglers wandering the isles at the back of the store. Robin was manning the counter, her head in her hands as she struggled to stay awake, caught in the drone of the eight hour shift delirium. Despite her valiant fighting, sleep was beginning to take over as her only source of entertainment was stuck sorting through videos in the back.
However, the liminal silence that haunted downtown Hawkins was quickly broken as the front door swung open. Dustin marched in first with Eddie following close behind, the pair caught in a heated debate about their next DnD campaign; pausing only to offer their hellos to Robin. Behind them, half-listening to the squabbling of the pair in front of her was Y/n. Robin perked up a little, offering a tired grin as Y/n leant against the counter, mirroring Robin with her head in her hands. “How long have they been like that?” Y/n’s eyes peeked out from behind her eyes, exhaustion from school and the incessant argument clouding their usual warm glow. “Pretty much since we left school. I’m hoping they shut up for the movie, although who knows…last time we watched Little Shop of Horrors they sang all the way through it…bless them.” Y/n cast a small smile over her shoulder to Eddie, her annoyed gaze softening as she watched him wind up Dustin. He had his arm thrown around the kids shoulder, whispering to him, probably trying to sway his movie choice to one of his favourites like Ferris Bueller or Beetlejuice. A laugh escaped her as Dustin pushed Eddie away by his face, insisting ‘he could choose his own movie’.
“I see your busy as ever.” Y/n’s teasing brought a faux frown to Robins face as she pushed her arm, rolling her eyes simultaneously as she looked around at the deserted video shop. “My usual entertainment is stuck in the back…speaking of, wheres dingus numero dos?”
As if on command, Eddie appeared by Y/n’s side. His arms automatically worming around her waist, his head resting on top of hers as he pulled her so her back was against his chest. “Movie night Buckley, Henderson’s turn to choose though. Hopefully it’s better than that yuck fest my girl here made us watch last time.” Eddie’s head moved to the side, smiling as angelic as the devil could. “Hey! Don’t think i didn’t catch you crying by the end, Munson.” The couple stuck their tongues out at one another, soon breaking into laughter as they both noticed Robin’s disgusted face. “I know you idiots are in love, but can you please keep the cutesy stuff to a minimum? I think my heart might vomit.”
The couple responded in tandem, tongues out and scrunching their eyes shut with furrowed brows. Robin countered through mime, acting out violently vomiting her guts out whilst Eddie lead Y/n over to the sci-fi section. Halloween was fast approaching and the couple were notorious within their little freaky family for having the best costumes in all of Hawkins, maybe even Indiana. Y/n has suggested going as Columbia and Eddie (as in Meatloaf) from Rocky Horror which Eddie wasn’t totally opposed to. But he had some other plans which of course included Dustin.
Eddie had spent weeks thinking of the right costume, finally settling on it a few days prior after their cinema date. Y/n had been begging to do a vampire theme, only settling with Rocky Horror because it was his favourite. She was always doing that, putting others wants and needs in front of her own. It’s what had got her caught up in all the mess with the Upside Down, what had brought her and Eddie together. He had wanted to do something special for her, and he knew how much Dustin meant to her. The kid was basically her little brother, he had thought they actually were siblings when they met.
She had burst into the drama class, glasses slipping off the end of her nose and wearing scuffed sneakers. Dustin had actually yelped, gathering up his things as whilst she glared at him. “I know this club means a bunch but thats the second time this week Dusty? We’ve already missed the trailers and Steve isn’t gonna wait for us for..ever” Eddie had already been standing, his eyes felt like they were gonna pop out of his head as she offered a small smile. “Sorry to barge in but we’ve got a date with David Bowie.” Dustin had offered a sorry as he ran out the class, not bothering to wait for Y/n that had lingered, caught under something she couldnt quite place. Eddie had moved to stand in front of Y/n, towering over her as the rest of Hellfire watched. “Henderson never mentioned he had a pretty older sister” He was weird, Y/n had always known it. The two had sort of been friends but that was too long ago for either of them to remember. “That’s probably because I’m his babysitter, dingus.”
Back in Family Video, Eddie and Y/n browsed the isles. Eddie was paying more attention to Y/n, his eyes watching her whisper the films titles, hands sliding over the glossy covers. Everything about her pulled him in, resulting in him constantly having some kind of contact most of the time. Today he had his pinky locked with hers, letting her drag him along as something new caught her attention. “So…yknow we were thinking about costumes?” Y/n nodded, her attention still not quite on Eddie as she read the blurb for some new tacky rom-com. “I know we always do couples, but why not add in a…not add in but i have a fun idea but it needs three of us.”
Dustin and Robin were watching from the counter, adding their own commentary to the pair. “I mean she’s literally got him by the pinky, Munson is quite literally wrapped around her finger.” Steve had finally appeared from the back store room, his comment making Robin and Dustin jump. Robin sighed, head in her hands once more, no longer having the energy to watch the happy couple. “How do you put up with this all the time Henderson?”  Dustin offered a smile, patting Robin on the head before continuing to watch the unwitting show in front of him. “Still no joy then?”
“Nope, not a single iota, not even dingus numero uno could help, its hopeless.”
“Speaking of hopeless.” Steve motioned towards the couple, a small smile growing on his face.
Y/n had known for a while that Eddie wanted to include Dustin on their Halloween costume plans, but the opportunity to tease the boy was too good to resist. “Are you, Steve and Dusty finally going as the three stooges?” Y/n couldn’t help but laugh at Eddie’s deadpan face, standing on tiptoe to smash his face before wandering a bit further away, egging him on. “Y’know that movie we saw a few weeks back?” Y/n nodded, letting Eddie pull her back towards him. “You mean the one we were almost late for because you forgot?” That pulled a groan from Eddie, sent his eyes rolling as he frowned down at his beautiful but frustrating girlfriend. “When will you let that go? Anyway, i was thinking and me, you and Dustin would be perfect for Michael, Star and Sam? If you want…of course…if its dumb..” Eddie was cut off as he noticed the bright grin, the love soaked stare that had taken over Y/n. “We are so winning costume of the year, in your face Buckley!”
Before she could stop him, Eddie had picked her up, twirling her around, his hands tight on her waist as she giggled uncontrollably. “Did i ever tell you that i loved you?” Finally Eddie had set Y/n down, ruffling her hair once before before squishing her face in his hands. “Only every five minutes!” Dustin answered, his grin falling as Eddie raised an eyebrow. Already racing towards him as Dustin hauled ass to the back of the store. Y/n chased after them, laughter taking the air from her lungs as she offered a smile to Steve and Robin.
“Those two are idiots.”

yail | eddie munson x reader
summary: nobody could resist chrissy cunninghams smile, unless a certain someone was already enchanted.
a/n: hi lovelies! so this could be read as a part two to missing you, but it can also be a stand alone if you haven't read it! Thank you so so much for all the love for that fic, i hope you enjoy this one just as much! it is sort of inspired by taylor swifts You Are In Love, but very loosely. anyways, enjoy!!!
“I don’t get why this is such a big deal?!”
His chest was heaving, red in the face, hair messy from running his hands through it. Eddie was angry, trying his very best not to lose it despite your spiteful gaze only egging him on further. He should of known what had gotten you so upset, should of seen the warning signs when you refused to speak to him after lunch. But he was an idiot, self proclaimed many times when he said or did something stupid that pissed you off. However, this time was different, you were hurt, and it was his fault.
“Don’t play dumb, Eddie.”
You weren’t in a better state. Your face was stained with tears, lip still quivering and arms folded over your chest as you stared him down. Everything had been going so well, too well. But then you just had to go for a walk in the woods to get some air before your next class, and you stumbled upon Eddie all goo goo eyed over the head cheerleader herself, Chrissy Cunningham. You had been anticipating the moment Eddie realised he could get better and left you behind, waiting for the day he moved on. But it had never come, despite all your faults, the fact you weren’t perfect or even good for enough for him, and yet he stuck around, he kept coming back.  And after the somewhat less than christian events that followed Eddie catching you in his shirt…well lets just say you had thought that finally things would become more permanent. But all that hope had quickly dissolved as you watched Eddie trip over his words, his smile growing wider than it ever was with you, his hands practically reaching out to hold the queen b herself. You swore you had felt your heart crack in two when Chrissy giggled at Eddie, you were done for. It was all over, no man on earth could resist that. The perfectly crafted, heartstoppingly beautiful Chrissy smile that had won over every boy she had even glanced at. And all you could do was stand there and watch as Eddie Munson blushed, his ears even tinged pink with a grin that you had always thought was reserved for you. Not even Eddie ‘The Freak’ Munson was immune to a smile like that.
“Sweetheart all she wanted was some special K, thats it!”
In truth Eddie had been acting different since that night he caught you. He couldnt deny that something had changed, the electricity was working differently between you two. Suddenly he felt all hot and bothered…well more hot and bothered than before. He felt his heart hammering in his chest at the mere thought of you, never mind when you actually in the room, or next to him, near him, god help him if you were on top or beneath him. Eddie found himself hyperaware of you, picking up on silly things he hadn’t really thought about before. Like the way your perfume clung to his pillows, and the fact you always bought jumpers two sizes too big. That you exclusively bought strawberry scented shampoo and conditioner. Unbeknownst to you, he had started pressing kisses to the top of your head whilst you slept in his arms, if you moved away in the night he would pull you back into him. Jeff and Gareth had started teasing him for all the love soaked staring he did when you didn’t sit with the hellfire club, or when you were laughing with your friends, or when you were just being you. You missed all of his pining, making it easier for you to assume he had fallen for Chrissy following a week of his strange behaviour. Completely oblivious to the fact that it was your smile, your dumb jokes and infectious laughter that had won Eddie over, making Chrissy Cunningham fade into the white noise of it all when compared to you.
“Please, you were practically drooling all over one another. Don’t lie to me!”
A million thoughts at a time were running through your mind, trying desperately to figure out what you had done wrong, what you could of done better, listing reason after reason as to why he would prefer Chrissy to you. Your eyes were glazing over, tears threatening to spill  as you took a step back from Eddie. You couldnt look at him any longer, couldnt face those stupid brown puppy dog eyes as you felt everything hurt all over again. You didn’t know exactly when you had fallen in love with him over the course of your little love affair. Eddie had a habit of getting in your head, he was lovable, every inch of him. Maybe it was around the same time you started spending whole weekends with him, spending mornings watching cartoons through tired eyes. Or when he picked you up in the rain, driving you back to his house after a date didn’t show. Maybe the love had grown in the little early morning chats, still wrapped in his arms listening to The Stones on low. You had told Eddie everything, dreams, fears, silly things you wanted. You had whispered to him one night that he was your best friend, and he had held you tightly, laughing at the cheesiness of it all before agreeing that you were his too. The thought of losing that, losing him to a cheerleader that wouldn’t ever appreciate him. She wouldn’t understand his stupid movie references, or let him read lord of the rings when there was a storm, she wouldn’t dance around to Metallica with him, make him grilled cheese just the way he liked it or know that his favourite movie was Ferris Bueller or…or love him like you did. Thats what hurt the most.
“I’m not lying to you! Why the fuck would I drool over Chrissy Cunningham!?”
Eddie’s own heart was breaking at the sight of you falling apart in front of him. This was different than all the times before when you had cried in his van, or in his room. All those times before he was the balm to the wound, now he was the knife. Every part of him was screaming to just hold you, itching to reach out and make you know how much you meant to him. But every time he took a step towards you, you stumbled back. It was like some cruel parallel of all those summer nights fuelled by teenage passion.
“Because she’s perfect Eddie! I don’t blame you! I’d choose her over me! I’d choose anyone over me!”
The tears were really going now, pouring down your face as you tried to get this over and done with. The best few months of your life were over, pretty soon this would all be a memory that you could look back on and cry to whilst some stupid Led Zeppelin album played. But then Eddie’s hands were holding yours tightly, and his face was staring down at you with an emotion you couldnt quite place.Your chests were heaving and the air felt static. Despite Eddie only having one working braincell at the best of times, he managed to figure out why you were so angry, why you were so jealous over a silly little meeting with a popular girl who just wanted some drugs. It all made sense, a lightbulb suddenly going off in his mind as he smiled softly. If you hadn’t of been crying he would of picked you up and spun you around. You loved him, and christ, he loved you too.
“I don’t want perfect.”
“What?”
“I want someone that knows all the words to the breakfast club and cries every time at the end, that watches stupid saturday morning cartoons and drinks coffee like its holy water. I want someone that sings under their breath when they get bored, and dances like an idiot. I want someone that is as much of a nerd as me even though she hides it incredibly well.  I want you. I’m in love with you, have been since the day we bumped into each other and you accidentally spilled chocolate milk down me.”
The world possibly stopped spinning that day. Eddie had tears in his eyes, his hands holding your face as if you would break in pieces. He was red , a smile taking over that you had never seen before. His stupid brown eyes were practically sparkling, the wide grin something you had only caught in the corner of your eye. It was the smile that Eddie had for you whenever you weren’t looking. Your heart was skipping too many beats, hammering its way out of your chest as you leant your forehead against his, standing on tippy toes to reach. Those four stupid words that you had been holding back for six months finally pouring out your mouth like honey.
“I love you too.”

missing you | eddie munson x reader
summary: the last thing eddie thought he would see when he tumbled through your bedroom window, was you in his hellfire shirt. silly antics follow!
a/n: this is just a short silly one, gets a little steamy at the end as well lovelies! having a bit of writers block at the moment so hopefully this kickstarts something :) as always i hope you enjoy!
“Are you wearing…my shirt?”
It was a Saturday night, and whilst other teenagers were out at the movies or at some weird party at some jocks house, you had decided to have a night in. Earlier that day you had rented your favourite chick flicks, got enough snacks to feed a small army and settled in for a nice quiet night alone. You had actually been in your bathroom, completing a needlessly gratuitous skin care routine when a bang coming from your bedroom lured you away.
“Eddie? What are..how did you even get in here?”
You and the infamous Eddie Munson had known each other throughout high school. You had first met when you asked to sit in for one of the Hellfire clubs sessions, planning on writing a story that incorporated one of their campaigns. It had been for a feature in the school paper, and you had written it in the hopes of shining some light on the strange extracurricular activity. From that moment on, actually following you laughing at one of Eddie’s terrible jokes, a spark had begun to form.
“Through the window, you’re dodging the question princess.”
A off and on secret love affair had ensued. You hadn’t meant for it to be kept underwrapis, sure it made things more fun in some ways but it also meant you could never go to dinner together, go to the movies, do all that couple shit that you were dreaming of. It wasn’t exactly clear what you were, surely it was more than a hook up at least after the first month it was. Friends with benefits dont cook each other breakfast, or watch shooting stars, or lie in bed holding each other for hours with The Stones on low. There was something more between you, but you were both terrified of what something more concrete would mean.
“You can’t just climb through my window! You could get hurt, dingus”
All those secret meetings, rendezvous in his van at lovers lake, late night skinny dipping that led you back to his trailer, staying the night, cuddled up and safe in his arms. Watching tv on the weekends, talking about anything that came to mind, cooking dinner together, finding home in one another.  All that had led up to now. Suddenly you felt exposed, which felt ironic considering all the hours, the weekends you had spent with Eddie in a much more intimate…positions than this. Maybe it was because he had never seen your room before. Now he was staring wide eyed at everything, a stark contrast against the sage green walls. He was suddenly privy to your posters, your pictures. He now knew you had a chair for worn but not dirty clothes, an overflowing wash basket mainly filled with odd socks, that you kept your trainers in a line under you mirror and your wardrobe doors closed at all costs. That you slept with a teddy and about seven different pillows.
“You’ve been spending too much time with Robin, and you still haven’t answered my question, sweetheart.”
Worst of all he had caught you red handed. Eddie Munson had all but two Hellfire shirts. The first one was a little small, being the first one he had ever made all those years ago when he first started the club. And the second being a little big, with less stains and tears on the stitches. The second one had gone missing about a week ago, following a rather risqué sleepover with yours truly. He had a suspicion you had it, and although he really did need it back, the thought of you stealing away with his shirt had made him feel all giddy. He had feelings that ran deeper than he wanted to admit, and this meant so did you.
“And you still haven’t explained why you are here.”
Eddie was close, you could hear his heart hammering in his chest as he towered over you, backing you into the wall behind you and grinning,  all smug. He had finally caught a glimpse of you, the real you. Your hair was up, covered in sweet smelling oils that made his head spin. You were wearing your glasses, although they were hanging on the edge of your nose to avoid the moisturiser you had just applied. And best of all, you were wearing his Hellfire shirt along with a pair of his flannel trousers that he had leant you months ago after yours got a little..ripped.
“I was missing my girl. You’re turn.”
That made your head spin, the thought of being not only his but his girl!? A quiet 'oh' had escaped you, making Eddie's grin only grow wider. He had his hands tucked underneath the shirt, holding your waist ready to pull you into him. His breathe was fanning out across your face, all cigarettes and chewing gum in a rushed attempt to hide the fact he was smoking again. His face was still flushed from climbing up to your window, chest heaving for a whole other reason as you smiled, your gaze all soft and love struck as you finally gave into his charms. Your brain all mushy, fuzzy like white noise as he pushed you impossibly closer to the wall behind you, lips ghosting over yours in a teasing grin.
“was missing you too.”

running up that hill | eddie munson x reader
summary: it was always you and him...until it wasn't
a/n: this is just a quickie, a sad silly story. as always if theres anything i can do better, please let me know. i hope you enjoy ;)
“what do you miss most?”
Dustin’s question hung in the air, slowly bringing the pain that had since been buried back to the forefront, weighing you down all over again.
You were sat on a hill, the hill you and Eddie had grown up running up and down. Chasing one another, playing out various DnD campaigns, turning sticks into swords, transformed into hobbits and elves, kings under the mountain, wizards and healers. The world had been your storybook and that hill had been your stage. Now, in the dying light you could see the ghosts of the children you once were running around you. Smiling faces, hearts beating like they were hammering their way out of your chests. You wished you could fade back there, in the hope of it all.
From the hilltop you both watched the scars that now cut through Hawkins simmer. nobody knew what it meant or what was coming. Nobody wanted to think about it, for now all that mattered was they were safe. They were living in the precious minutes in between the next fight, in the bated breathes, the space between the pages.
You couldn’t cry anymore, not properly. Tears glistened, capturing the last light of the day as they stained your face. A bittersweet smile paired with your first muffled laugh since everything rippled through you. It felt nice, strangely freeing to laugh again.
A warm blanket of everything you and Eddie had been through settled over you. If you closed your eyes, if you could sink into that dying light you might of believed he was next to you. His hand on yours, playing with your rings with his arm slung around your shoulder, pressing a kiss to your forehead, smiling softly when you looked up at him. How many nights had you spent there on top of that hill, talking about wishes, dreams, babbling about anything and laughing until your stomachs hurt.
You had your first kiss there. A rush of panic, of everything you two had been feeling finally crashing down when Eddie had pulled you back into him. Not letting you walk away after a stupid argument, you dont even remember why it started in the first place. The ending took over everything, the way he had been so soft, the way everything poured into that one sweet moment. It had made your heart hurt, his puppy dog eyes caught in the light, the smile on his face when he leant his head against yours. “I can’t tell you how long I’ve been wanting to do that.”
You would of had your first everything there if it had been up to Eddie. After a particularly frisky night when star gazing turned into heavy petting. He had you pinned under him, his hands exploring lower and lower, your head fuzzy as he smothered you with kisses, sharing the air and completely wrapped up in one another. He had groaned when you stopped him, turning his pretty brown eyes on you in full force, begging, pleading to let him have his way. “If you think I’m letting you fuck me on top of this hill Eddie Munson you’ve got another thing coming.”
All your secrets were spilled there, fears, hopes, dreams. You two had planned your lives together there. You could hear in the wind your voices, high pitched and innocent from before middle school. Promising each other to always be there, that you would never leave, no matter what. You had kept that promise, god willing you would of kept it to the very end if Steve hadn’t dragged you away.
Under the hill, too many meters below to even think about he was still down there. You had nightmares about it for weeks, haunted by his lifeless body. Back when you pretended to kill one another he had always been better at staying still than you. So when you first saw him you thought he was just pretending, just messing around. “Come on Eddie, stop fooling around this isn’t funny.” The gut wrenching pain that had pulled you to the floor was worse than anything, the screams that had left you always sort of in the back of your mind. “We can’t leave him, i promised i wouldn’t, let me go!”
You hadn’t realised you were shaking until Dustin put an arm around you, trying his best to wipe away your tears as he pulled you into him. He was just a kid, and yet he was doing everything you should of done for him.
“everything…all of him.”

in hindsight | eddie munson x reader
summary: if eddie munson knew two things about his life, it was this. one he was utterly in love with his best friend, two, he was definitely going to die.
a/n: back to my regularly scheduled crushing eddie munson fic. ALSO i have tried a different writing style for this one, so let me know if it works or if theres anything i can do better! as always i hope you enjoy my silly little fic ;)
Eddie Munson knew two things for certain, number one he was undeniably, completely and utterly in love with you. And number two, he was going to die.
He had fallen in love with you slowly. He had always imagined it being like the movies, that he would see someone and instantly know they were meant to be together. Stupidly, he had been waiting for that moment to happen, completely oblivious to the millions of times a day he fell a little bit more for his best friend.
You had transferred half way through middle school after your parents broke up. He had watched you trip over your words as you introduced yourself to the class, twirling your hair and staring at the floor rather then facing the room of strangers. You had worn flares, instantly letting him know you maybe weren’t going to be like every other dick in school. The only other empty seat was next to him, and for once someone didn’t wince when they realised they had to put up with him for a semester. You were oblivious to the rumours, the nicknames the endless bullying. He would learn you wouldn’t of cared even if you did, you weren’t like that.
At lunch he had watched you sit alone, politely declining joining Jason and his idiot friends with a dead look behind your eyes. Eddie had almost snorted chocolate milk when he noticed, the dejected and confused looks on the jocks faces the most entertaining thing since one of the younger kids had dropped spaghetti all over Jason by accident. It had been in the second he had decided you needed, had a god given right to become his right hand man. Eddie hadn’t gone into your friendship head over heels in love with you. It had crept up slowly on him, until it so suddenly had consumed him.
You were kind. Above all things, the sarcasm and heavy wit, you were kind. He had admired the way you always stopped to help someone, holding doors or being a shoulder to cry on to anyone that needed it. You loved films and music. You were obsessed with Rocky Horror, dressing up as Meatloaf for Halloween and laughing so hard you fell to the floor when he appeared from his trailer as Dr Frankenfurter. You were always humming along to some tune that was playing in your mind, the lyrics of the greats, Elvis, the Stones, Fleetwood Mac, Queen, Bowie, Metallica. You weren’t chained down to one genre, you didn’t confine yourself in any box and it made his head spin with how much you just knew about stuff. On every movie night without fail you would chirp in with fun facts, whisper all the lines to the Breakfast Club, hand in the air and crying by the end. You didn’t care about keeping up appearances with him, he could tell you felt comfortable around him. He saw you in no makeup and pyjamas more than he saw you dressed up. Spending whole weekends on the sofa or lying in one another beds, listening to music or watching day time tv.
He liked that he could just be quiet, not have to constantly spout off about something or show off. With you he wasn’t ‘Eddie Munson’, he was just Eddie. Some nights you would persuade him to take part in your night time routine. Painting his face with a clay face mask, braiding his hair back with a much needed oil treatment. You had introduced him to the wonders of moisturiser, of too hot showers and a good muscle relaxing body wash. You had bought him his first ever expensive shampoo and conditioner, treated him to department store cologne instead of the one he got at the gas station. When you came into his life, Eddie had felt himself become a better version go whoever he had been before. He loved those nights, even subjecting himself to listening to the girlie music you played. His face and turned a beet red when you caught him singing along to ABBA, your jaw dropping as you squealed and pulled him up from his position on your bed. “I knew it! I knew you liked them! It was only a matter of time Eddie, everyone loves ABBA!” He had tackled you to the floor, the pair of you play fighting until he had you pinned and your breathe was mingling. He eyes had been dark, you could hear his heart hammering when he leaned down “Don’t tell a soul, or i’ll tell Gareth and Jeff…” But he couldnt think of a thing, you were an open book and you knew it. Smirking up at him, using that brief second of hesitation to pin him to the floor. “I have no skeletons in my closet, unlike youuu, Fernando.” You had winked and it had sent Eddie into overdrive, not that you noticed.
You listened to him, all his rants and raves about the dead end town and the life he wanted after graduation. He hadn’t realised he had included you in those dreams. Just assuming you would always be by his side. Stealing his cheesy fries, wiping your greasy hands on him after. Twirling his curls when you were reading, stealing his jumpers on colder days and head banging along to his music on the way to school. He ran through his campaigns with you, grinning when you played along with him. Pretending to be various characters as you paraded around his trailer, face contorting into various expressions, looking to him for approval every now and then as you acted out various scenes.
Eddie had realised how bad it was one day in the cafeteria. You hadn’t done anything out of the norm, no scene stealing moment that should of set his heart aflame. Everything had just suddenly clicked, it all made sense and it had stopped Eddie’s heart.
You had your headphones on, trying desperately to finish a essay and block out the noise of the cafeteria. He had been talking to Dustin and Mike about something, whipping himself into a dramatic frenzy when something had caught his attention. He had felt funny the whole day, the weird feeling starting when he had picked you up that morning. You were wearing your usual flares, a long sleeve black crop top that showed a sinful inch of your midriff. Your hair was down, nothing new. Maybe your makeup was different, the eyeliner smokier than usual. Maybe it was your perfume, something he had found increasingly difficult to resist or ignore. You had smiled brightly as always, but it had made his chest hurt, like someone was gripping his heart and forcing it to beat out of rhythm.
He hadn’t felt it since leaving you for your first classes, but then when he saw you again the feeling had rushed over him all over again. He had watched as you clipped your hair up, several curls falling and framing your face as you scribbled furiously, Whatever Dustin had been babbling about became unimportant. The sound that had distracted him in the first place surrounded him, you were singing. He had heard you sing before, yelling away in the shower, humming lowly as you made breakfast, screaming along with him to the radio in his car. But this felt different, your voice was low, breaking in and out as you tried to focus. Eddie had frozen in his spot, trying desperately to listen to what you were singing along to under a bated breath. It was The Stones, as always. ‘Can’t You Hear me Knocking’ leaking out of your headphones due to the music being turned up so high.
Eddie had felt something powerful hit him. He was convinced there was an arrow in his chest for the rest of the day, his blood leading a trail to you. For the rest of the week he couldnt act normal around you. Suddenly everything that had come so easy felt scripted, forced. He didn’t know how to act around you anymore, every hug or nudge or nap you took against him set his entire body aflame. He hated it, now so intensely vulnerable to someone that appeared oblivious to his fumbling.
And now here he was. Just two weeks ago he had realised he loved you, that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with you by his side. He didn’t care what he did, if he was famous or just stuck in a dead end job and a trailer. As long as he had you he hadn’t cared. And now, well now none of it mattered.
Eddie was struggling to breathe, begging Dustin to take you back home, begging you to let him go as your hands scrambled to find purchase on his wound ridden body. He was bleeding and it was bad, you both knew it. Dustin had tried but you had forced his hands off of you, apologies lost in the mad rush back to Eddie. “Please, you need to go Princess.” He had pleaded with you once more, blood spurting out his mouth as he forced himself to talk. His grip on you growing weaker by the second. But you refused to, shaking your head furiously and refusing to let him die alone. “I can’t I…what am i gonna do…i can’t do this without you Eddie.” You couldnt stop crying, an unbearable feeling gripping you, a arrow in your back and a trail of blood leading to him.
He had closed his eyes when your hands had stroked through his curls, trying to wipe away the grime that coated his face. “Why couldnt you just stick to the plan!” You were furious, yelling at him through broken sobs when he had tried to smile despite the pain. “I never was one for rules.”
A bittersweet laugh had racked through you, hands holding his jacket tighter and tighter, not ready to go, to let him go.
But you were running out of time, you needed to get back through the gate and Dustin was yelling at you through his own tears. You had held Eddie tighter, pressing your face into his neck as gently as you could, shaking with grief when he used all his strength to pat your head gently.
“God this sucks.” He had groaned, the pain hitting a steep crescendo. You had held him tighter, wanting to tell him so much without any of the words to say it. “This isn't how i wanted...how i wanted to tell you but...christ...I…I love you. I should of told you sooner…. in hindsight” Eddie Munson’s heart stopped twice that day, all within a few minutes of each other as he willed whatever higher power there was to give him this one blessing. And just as the darkness started to wrap around him, as the image of the girl he loved began to fade away, her screams following as Dustin and Steve dragged her away, he heard her cry out. “I love you too Eddie, I always will.”

a glimpse of us | steve harrington x reader
summary: they are each others replacements, tripping over words and falling in love with a ghost of the one they actually want, ouchie.
a/n: hi lovelies, so this is sort of the third part to the 'seperate ways' sort of series (which is very much a reader x eddie munson series if you haven't seen it!) this is mainly focusing on the relationship with steve, but if you aren't into it a new part involving the main man, mr eddie munson will be up soon. thank you so much for the love, hope you enjoy!
“So, you and Harrington?” Y/n felt like she couldn’t breathe. The air suddenly evaporating from her lungs as she stared at Eddie, not quite believing that now, now he was jealous? He had some nerve, after the whole not talking to one another for a whole year. There wasn’t anything between her and Steve…right?
Of course she had known of him in high school, but they didn’t exactly run in the same circles to ever truly cross paths. That is until she started babysitting Dustin Henderson for extra cash on the weekends, and because their mums were friends. Steve had been fine, slowly getting nicer and less static around her as their time together increased. He didn’t know what it was about the girl, she wasn’t exactly his usual type, at least back then. When they first met she was still very much in the grip of being Eddie Munson’s look alike. She had answered the door, the plastered on bored expression that he usually saw her with at school suddenly wiped clean as she gawked up at him. Without turning around she had yelled into the house, forcing a weak smile as they waited for the boy to appear. “Dusty! You’ve got The Hair at the door, he’s got…flowers?” Steve had rolled his eyes at the nickname, huffing as he was once again waiting on the kid.
When he had finally got back into the safety of his car he had asked Dustin “Why didn’t you tell me Munson’s double was your sister dude?” That had wrenched a laugh from Henderson, already buckled up and ready to go as he waved goodbye to Y/n in the doorway. “She isn’t my sister Steve, she’s my actual babysitter. Yknow they type that cooks me dinner, we clean up and listen to her records, we watch star wars, she even plays DnD every now and again. And you…well you occasionally beat up a demo dog and give me lame advice for hitting on the ladies.” Y/n had watched the pair bickering from her place in the doorway, offering a final wave goodbye before going back in to clean up.
They started getting closer after Steve had shown up for work one day to find Y/n dressed in the Scoops uniform, being shown by their jackass of a manager the correct way to greet customers whilst Robin giggled from the back. “Are you stalking me or something?” Y/n had rolled her eyes again, faking a smile whilst focusing on pretending that one of her passions in life was customer service. “Oh yeah, i love you Steve oh baby oh baby that’s why i signed up to shovel ice cream for nine hours a day and be paid below minimum wage for the simple pleasure of watching you.” It took a minute for Steve to realise she was joking, around the second ‘oh baby’ he caught onto the joke. Robin couldnt believe her luck, now there was two of them to watch Steve humiliate himself in his attempts to get a girlfriend. She didn’t miss the fond smile growing on Steve’s face when Syd dropped the act and told the truth. “Dusty can look after himself now so his mum only needs me on the weekends when she’s at her craft fairs…Robin told me Scoops were hiring, I’m in desperate need for cash, so here I am Harrington.”
After the disaster at the mall, escaping the Russians and surviving the next monster that had managed to creep into their world, Steve had driven Y/n home. Her parents had been away, as they always seemed to be nowadays so there was nobody to take her home after being checked over at the hospital. The drive had been silent, the radio felt too loud, talking felt strange as they drove through the ignorant streets of Hawkins. Steve had taken the long way home, hoping the drive would calm her down but it was during the quiet that he realised she was going to have to spend the night, or however long until her parents got home, all alone.
“So, you fought that thing before?” Y/n’s voice had been soft when she spoke, suddenly reduced to a kid again as she sat in Steve Harrington’s car and watched the world go by. Only that world wasn’t one she knew anymore, it was stranger, alien now in the face of seeing the unknown.  “That uh..thing is new, usually its just uh…well the kids call them demogorgons. The Upside Down is what took Will when he went missing two years ago, somethings always happened since.” Y/n could feel the heavy weight on Steve’s shoulders as he spoke, the fear that he was hiding from everyone leaking out in his words as he tried to focus on the dark road ahead.
“Like in DnD?” That had caught his attention, a nice distraction away from the hell that just wouldn’t let those kids of his live. “Don’t tell me you play DnD, i was just starting to think you were cool.” He was joking, but when he caught sight of the sad smile that had taken over from the previous shock sent a gang through his chest. “I am joking. Dustin mentioned you helped him write a few, uh what are they called..campaigns? I just, i didn’t know you actually played.” Y/n had nodded, her heart hammering in her chest as a decades worth of memories flooded her thoughts. Holed up in a bedroom, records blaring as they all had sat in a circle, hours wasted in the darkness, whole summers dedicated to it. “Me and Eddie used to play all the time, he got me into it back in middle school.” Steve had nodded, all too aware of the recent break down of their friendship. In some ways she had seemed over it, but then again who was he to know anything about being over someone.
“Still not talking?” Tears had crowded her eyes, slowly dripping down her cheeks, working their way under the bandage on her jaw and stinging the still weeping wound. They had reached her house but Y/n didn’t move, stuck to her seat as she cried to the ex king of Hawkins High about the stupid argument, started over nothing but jealousy. Steve had awkwardly comforted her, definitely not wanting to leave her alone when she winced at the cut on her jaw. His own body was aching, face still very much swollen from the beating he had taken from the soldiers. “I can stay the night if you want…i’ll sleep on the couch? Just so you aren’t…” Y/n had nodded slowly, smiling through her tears as she laughed at the entire ridiculous situation. “You’re a good person Steve, yknow that right?”
Soon enough Y/n’s house became yet another stop on Steve’s morning pick up run. How he had ended up being Robin, Dustin and Y/n’s ride to school was a mystery to him, but he had to admit he loved it. His favourite part being just before they got to the parking lot, all four of them crammed in his shitty car, music being combined with whatever bickering was going on that morning. A close second being the quiet journey back after school was done, Y/n was the last stop so she would trade person with Robin in the front seat after her house. Steve couldnt believe it when she started singing along to ‘Girls on Film.’ She had just started traded in her old heavy metal rocker chick look for a toned down natural indie version, when she had got in the car that morning Steve almost hadn’t recognised her. Usually fighting to even see her eyes beneath the thick eyeliner, now they were so clearly there, bright and hazel in the early morning. “What? Have i got toothpaste on my face again?” She had asked, wiping at her face and looking in the wing mirror desperately trying to find the smudge of white. Steve had shook his head, running a hand through his famous hair before starting the car again. “No, no its just uh…i can see your eyes.” Y/n had thought about it all day, that one silly comment managing to distract her as she dreamily walked through the corridors. On the drive home she hadn’t even realised she was singing along to the radio until Steve had pointed it out. “It is possible for someone to listen to more than one genre of music yknow Harrington.” Y/n had brushed it off, but it had sent Steve down the rabbit whole. She wasn’t the person he thought she was, and it was making him trip over his words the more he got to know her.
They spent evening at each others houses, binge watching various tv shows and movies in an almost vegetive state, sprawled out on sofas with their legs dangling in the air. Steve had watched in awe as she recited every line from the Breakfast Club under bated breathe, her eyes glued to the screen and not even really aware she was doing it. Y/n had laughed uncontrollably when he performed the first scene of Risky Business, not quite as suave as Tom Cruise when he crashed to the floor after sliding across it in his socks. Steve would take them on car rides, just wanting to get out the house and away from Hawkins. They would play each others music, park at the top of hills and lay on the grass. Steve had gawked when Y/n pulled out a pack of Marlboro Lights, not quite believing it before stealing a ciggie from her and grinning when she gasped. “Me and Eddie used to just sit by the lake, in the back of his van smoking and listening to whatever band he had found that week that could be turned up loud.” Y/n had confessed to Steve, waiting patiently for a story in return. “My first pack was stolen from my dad’s coat pocket. Lets just say it wasn’t pretty when i got back home.” His favourite day was when they had a sleepover at Y/n’s with Robin, breaking into her parents alcohol cabinet and spending the evening drinking expensive wine. Steve had watched through bleary eyes as Robin and Y/n danced, all arms and legs, yelling at the top of their lungs along with Madonna. The next morning, when Steve awoke with a pounding headache to the smell of breakfast he had found Syd humming along to herself, wearing one of his jumpers that he had left behind on various occasions. “Morning, material girl.” She had jumped, turning to face him, still donning the makeup from the night before and a weary look. “Shut it, Cruise.”
After they got their jobs at Family Video, Steve couldn’t help feeling something towards Y/n. Robin had pointed it out to him one day when she caught him watching her joking around with Dustin and Lucas as she helped them pick out a horror movie. He had a goofy and terribly cliche lovesick grin on his face, head in one hand as he leaned against the counter and lazily watched her laughing, the sound strangely familiar. “Don’t do it dingus.” Robin raised an eyebrow when he had jumped, sheepishly looking around and trying to pretend his hadn’t been staring at Y/n. “Do what?” He coughed, acting ‘casual’ before moving away from her, moving to the other side of the store to put the returned videos back. But Robin had followed, persistent as always as she whisper yelled to him. “Yknow what I’m talking about Steve. Y/n’s a nice girl, lovely even but it isn’t right. She’s clearly still in love with a certain metalhead weirdo and you…” Robin trailed off when Steve turned abruptly, hurt puppy dog eyes glaring down at her. “Im not still in love with Nancy, that was…its..its basically ancient history and she’s with Byers.” Robin had rolled her eyes, shoving Steve lightly when she realised Y/n was walking towards them. “You will hurt each other, s’all I’m saying.”
He had hated that Robin was right, it had kept him up at night as he willed the silly feeling away. Y/n hadn’t talked to or even seen Eddie for nearly six months, but that didn’t mean she wasn’t hung up on him. He had seen the way her face dropped when Dustin mentioned him, watched the way she stammered over an excuse of why she couldnt be a sub to his DnD campaign despite clearly wanting to go. Steve had saved the day, saying they were going to the cinema that night with Robin (he had to include Robin in the scheme, or else Dustin would tease him further about crushing on his babysitter.)
But sometimes neither of them could help the harmless flirting. Occasionally they had days when it was just the two of them at Family Video. It was always quiet, there was never exactly a mad rush of customers. Y/n had been reading the newest edition of Vogue, something she and Robin indulged in as a guilty pleasure. Usually pouring over the glossy pages in the back of his car on the morning school run, rubbing the fancy perfume samples on their arms wrists desperately before jumping out Steve’s car and rushing into school together. Steve had come to stand beside her, his attention on her lips as she wordlessly read an article on whatever fashion trend was hot and fresh that week. She was chewing watermelon bubble gum, and had smiled gently up at him when she noticed his staring. “Hi.” Y/n had felt herself getting nervous around him, felt a need for his attention that neither of them wanted to admit to. “Hey.” Steve had felt it too, his snarky comments suddenly turning into questions about her weekend, what movie she had obsessed over that week, what book she was reading. Desperate to find these pieces of her life and hold onto them. The bell had dinged, a customer had actually walked in (not that Steve or Y/n noticed.) “I was wondering if you wanted to uh…if you could stay over again tonight? My parents are out and well…i just.” After the mall Y/n had found it impossible to sleep alone. Usually she had Robin to sleepover but that night was would be busy with band practice or she would even stay at the Henderson’s, coaxing Dustin in with a pizza and a free movie night, whatever he wanted as long as she could crash on his couch. But was busy that night too with some major campaign ending at Hellfire. Steve had agreed before she finished speaking, nodding his head in a way that made his hair flop onto his forehead. “Movie night? We could watch Ferris Bueller again? Breakfast Club?” Y/n had grinned, ignoring the pounding of her heart as it hammered in her chest. “My favourites! We can get pizza? I’ll even treat you to a meat feast one...if you’re lucky.” Steve couldnt help but laugh when she wiggled her eyebrows, winking up at him. Behind her jam jar glasses Y/n’s eyes had sparkled. She felt like herself again, or at least somewhat close to the person she used to be. Back then she had thought there was no one else in the world that would make her feel that way but Eddie. And yet now she had Steve and Robin, two people she never dreamed would even look her away never mind talk to. “It’s a date.” Rough hands had pushed a stray curl back behind her ear, the hand lingering on the scar that cut across her jaw, making Steve’s gentle smile falter slightly. But Y/n had held his hand, their fingers intertwining. “It’s just a bad memory now Stevie.”
Y/n was well aware she had hesitated too long for Eddie’s liking. Feeling his eyes burning into her. But there was no right answer. There was maybe more then just something there, but it was never going to happen. Robin had been right, they would only hurt each other, had done it after one too many at some party weeks before.
“I can’t be your Nancy, Steve. I’m not…Im just not like that.” Y/n’s words had muddled together after Steve had leaned towards her. They had been stood outside, escaping the crowded party full of people that felt more like strangers when it had happened. A too long stare and pent up frustration leading to Steve leaning down, his hands holding her face so gently, thumb caressing scar tissue, eyes desperate for her to want it. Their lips had brushed together momentarily and for a moment Y/n had considered just letting whatever was going to happen, happen. But she liked him too much, loved him too much to let that happen and for them to hate each other for it after. “What? You… i know you aren’t Nancy, i dont want you to be her.” Steve was hurt, her hand on his shoulder almost painful against him as he desperately looked in her eyes. “You do…You dont know it yet but you do. Thats why all those girls aren’t right, why you cant find the ‘one.’ I’d be lying if i wasn’t doing the same Steve and i care about you too much to let us be each others replacements.” Y/n had started crying, voice breaking and subsequently breaking his heart as Steve pulled her in for a hug. It hurt, everything hurt. But he knew she was right despite the alcoholic haze that was far too quickly washing everything away. “I wish i could love you Steve.” He had nodded against her, squeezing her tightly against her and damning Robin for always being right. “I wish i could love you too.”

two ghosts | eddie munson x reader
summary: a year has passed by since their fight in the rain, a lot has changed and now they don't recognise each other. but when eddie needs her most, will she return to his side? ;)
a/n: hey lovelies! so here is part two to 'separate ways'. i hope it is okay! this one ended up being 3k on the word count, i just couldnt stop writing! thank you so so much for all the love! i have tagged the people that asked to be in that post! again just a big fat thank you, it means the absolute world that people enjoy my silly little stories. ALSO i just want to add if there is anything i can do to change my work for the better, especially when making the fic available to everyone i am open to any comments and i really want to thank people for pointing out my mistakes.
“Why would I know where Eddie Munson is?” Y/n had replied, trying to keep her voice monotone as panic alarms began to ring.
After their fight the two had fallen into a stubborn war. Neither would admit they missed the other, look their way or even acknowledge the others existence, not wanting to be the idiot that broke first. They were angry, frustrated but more than anything they were desperate for the other to just give in and apologise. But the day never came, both determined to hold out until the bitter end. And so, days turned into weeks, weeks turned into months and soon enough a whole year had passed by without either even glancing the others way.
For Eddie it had been torture. He had been convinced she would be the first to cave, and so for the first few days had sat back and waited for her to come crawling back. But as time dragged on, he became less certain in his theory that she was missing him. Gareth and Jeff became subject to hours of Eddie ranting, parading around their bedrooms and basements, turning every conversation into an interrogation as he questioned them on whether they had seen y/n, what she looked like, if she looked healthy, happy, tired, sad. “Dude, why don’t you just ask her yourself?!” Gareth had once sighed, head in his hands after the second hour of Eddie whining cut into band practice. In response he had gotten a whack to the back of his head and a grumbled list of reasons why he wouldn’t be the first to give in. “You’re really gonna throw everything you two had together away over a cheerleader who wont even talk to you in the hallway?” Jeff had butted in, his body tensed and ready for whatever Eddie was going to throw his way. But instead of violence, Eddie for once chose to actually think about what Jeff said. His body feeling a whole lot heavier as the reality of the situation hit him like a truck. “I guess i am …”
For y/n getting over him turned out to be a little easier than she had expected. A few days after the fiasco in the rain, whilst she was rotting away in her bed and listening to Joni Mitchel she had got called into Scoops a day early to cover both Robin and Steve’s shifts. She had started working there that summer, slowly getting closer to Robin and subsequently Steve as they shovelled ice cream for Erica Sinclair approximately five times a day. Before the fallout Eddie used to visit her on shift, laughing the entire time . A goth in a sailors outfit was surely comedy gold. However, not long after showing up for her shift, y/n found herself being dragged through the back lanes of the mall. Some weird guys in matching uniforms had showed up when she was in the back, whacking her around the head before she even had a chance to speak. She had woken up in a grey room, with yet another weirdo soldier smiling menacingly, clearly he enjoyed his job. “Ah, she’s awake. Now then, if you answer correctly this will all be done and you can get back to…to whatever you do. First, who do you work for?” The Russian accent really gave the guy away, and y/n couldnt focus on anything as she tried to figure out what was actually going on. A minute ago she had showed up to work at her shitty minimum wage job, and now she was being interrogated by a Russian in the basement of the mall. Could that week get any shittier? “I work for Scoops? Scoops Ahoy?” By the rolling of the soldiers eyes she figured it was the wrong answer, that was confirmed when a fist connected with her jaw. “Wrong answer girlie, unless you want to end up like your other friends i suggest you tell us the truth.” Y/n’s head had been spinning from the punch, her jaw clicking and making her wince when she tried to talk. “I work for Scoops on week days and then on weekends i work for Mrs.Henderson? I look after her kid, we go fro drives and i take him to the movies sometimes? Is this why Steve and Robin got the day off is this some messed up team bonding thing?”
For two hours they had continued to interrogate her, at the end finally dragging her away into another room where she was reunited with her other two coworkers. They were all in pretty bad shape, Steve’s face was swollen to nearly an unrecognisable level and Robin’s nose was for sure broken. Y/n had been cut across her jaw, the soldier clearly had enough of hearing the same three answers for two hours in a row. Steve and Robin couldn’t believe it when she was brought into their room, not even realising the danger they had put her in after calling in sick so they could attempt to shut down the Russians. Steve had tried to stop the cut on her jaw from bleeding, flying into mum mode despite y/n’s insistence that she was fine. But she couldn’t stop crying once Robin hugged her, everything coming out all at once as she tried to get a grip. “This is still the second shittiest thing to happen to me this week.”
The rest of her summer felt like a blur. Still trying to wrap her head around what had happened at the mall, the fact they had fought a real life monster and then had to go back to reality was more than enough to distract her from Eddie. Nightmares had plagued her, the monster, the kids that she had watched grow up, the fact they had been dealing with this for two years before she got involved. The entire time in the back of her mind she was dying to tell Eddie, but Dustin had talked her out of it, insisting he was better and safer not knowing.
Suddenly she had found herself back in Hawkins High, no lovable metalhead by her side and lost in the hallways as she tried to find her place in it all over again. Eddie was his usual self, back to his ridiculous announcements just to piss off the jocks; occasionally sending a wink Chrissy’s way and having to ignore the pang that went through him when she pretending she didn’t see it. Some days he would catch sight of y/n and hesitate, muscle memory almost making him go over to it as if nothing had changed. Y/N had been held back due to her grades in maths and science, but now she was actually trying to pass, it was likely she might actually do it. They weren’t in each others classes this year, something they would of previously fought against until the mistake was remedied. They walked past each other in the hallway like they didn’t exist, trying not to sneak a glimpse and simultaneously praying that the other was watching them.
Y/n had changed over the year they didn’t talk, when he first caught sight of her by her locker, Eddie hadn’t even recognised his old best friend. She had grown her hair, stripped all the brightly coloured highlights out and gone natural. The thick dramatic eyeliner and black lipstick disappeared too, traded in for barely nothing. A strange addition of a deep scar across her jaw worrying Eddie to the point that it kept him up at night a part of him willing him to just pick up the phone and make sure she was okay. The louder, more stubborn part won. The ripped jeans and band tees seemed to vanish too, suddenly she was in flares with cute white or grey tops, big sweaters that engulfed her and white trainers that she actually took care of. For a while Eddie mourned the loss of his old best friend, the crazy girl that stood out like a sore thumb now just a part of the crowd, she would of fit in with Chrissy’s friends and he doubted he would of even noticed. But secretly, Eddie couldnt ignore how much he liked the new y/n. It would always hurt that part of her he had grown up with, that had felt like a extension of himself was now gone. But what hurt more, what he had a harder time dealing with was the fact she looked so much happier, comfortable even without him.
Of course, it wasn’t long until they had to run into each other. Hawkins is a small town, and there weren’t many places to go that didn’t offer the opportunity for close calls. Eddie had made what was meant to be a quick stop at Family Video when he had been on his way to pick up Chrissy. He couldnt go into her house, or leave his car outside so whenever they had their little sneaky meet ups they usually went back to his trailer. He wanted to rent ‘Return of the Jedi’, determined to make Chrissy love Star Wars, with the deal being he had to endure Pretty in Pink.’ But as he waltzed through the front door, bell dinging above his head, he found he himself frozen to the spot.
She was stood behind the counter, dressed in the slight upgrade Family Video uniform when compared to Scoops. She was sorting through returned videos, a pair of glasses constantly being pushed back up her nose as she read the titles to the one and only Steve ‘the hair’ Harrington. Eddie had known they were friends, or at least knew one another. He had seen Harrington's car on her drive some mornings before school, or in the car park picking y/s and Dustin up. Occasionally the two even collected Dustin after Hellfire, usually laughing about some dumb joke Steve had made about DnD before driving off into the sunset. Obviously that was his own twisted view, fuelled by Henderson's comments of the pair being flirty every now and again. But seeing it up close was different. He watched her, she was chewing watermelon bubblegum and laughing once again at whatever Steve had said. Somethings never changed, she had bought exclusively watermelon bubblegum since they were five. But that was the only thing that Eddie recognised as he stared at the stranger in front of him. The final straw, retching Eddie’s gut as he forced himself to watch was when Harrington pushed a stray curl back behind her ear, pulling a warm smile that previously had belonged to him. Eddie had marched back to his van, forgetting all about the videos as he slammed the door shut, hitting his steering wheel and willing the tears in his eyes away. Why was he even crying, she was the one that had been in love with him, not the other way around. He had Chrissy, she was sweet and kind, she cared about him, so she couldnt love him in public, he wasn’t bothered about that…right? The talent show polaroid was still in his dash, a reality that no longer existed looked down on him, two strangers grinning into the unknown.
That brings us back to now. Y/n’s night in once agains being interrupted by Dustin as he tried his best not to yell down the phone at her. “You two were friends once, do you remember that y/n?!” Time was of the essence, and as always they were already out of it. Dustin didn’t know the details, frankly he didn’t want to. They had both hurt each other, thats all he needed to know. but right now Eddie needed help, and y/n was the only one that would know where he was. “Yeah well, turns out a high pony and a short skirt can take all that away pretty quickly.” Dustin rolled his eyes, sharing the same pained look with Max. He was all too aware they had wasted too much time convincing Steve his new adult male friend wasn’t actually a cold blooded killer just because he listened to Metallica and dressed weird. “Look, this is kind of an Upside Down situation. Eddie could be in some real trouble if we don’t get to him. Can you please put aside your stupid quarrel aside for one minute and HELP ME FIND HIM!” The angry frown that had settled on Y/n’s face quickly fell away at that, practically white knuckling the walkie that Henderson had got her for her birthday at the mention of the Upside Down. Her fingers danced back over the scar on her jaw, a weird tingling sensation coming from it at the mention of the other world that seemed hellbent on destroying her home, her friends, everything. “Have you tried Chrissy’s? She would know better than me, i haven’t talked or even seen Eddie in a year.” Dustin’s next words sent Y/n into panic, already running out the front door with a bad feeling in her chest as they spiralled around her. “Thats what I’ve been trying to tell you, Chrissy’s dead. They found her in Eddie’s trailer.”
Reefer Rick’s boathouse was ominously quite. Ten minutes prior Eddie had been pacing the decks, tears staining his face but none threatening to fall as he tried to get the image of Chrissy out of his head. He was waiting for the torches, the guns, the knives. Preparing himself for the hard of angry hicks to tear him apart, for the hunt for the freak to begin when a set of car lights had caught his attention. And all the while, despite his death now seemingly minutes away all Eddie could do was think of her, of the pain she was, the fear that she must of felt as her bones snapped like they were nothing. He thought of her parents finding out where she was, that she died alone because he ran away. He couldnt deny what he felt in the moment, he deserved whatever was coming for him. But that didn’t stop his from hiding when torches started heading his way, that didn’t stop him from desperately gripping a broken beer bottle and preparing to at least try.
Eddie had felt trapped in red, adrenaline forcing him to fight against whoever had come for him. But a kid screaming his name had made its way through all that fear, pulling him out of the haze and stopping him from jamming the bottle into Steve Harrington’s windpipe. Dustin’s face came into view, his hand on his arm and gently leading him away. He let him sit him down on a box, but wouldn’t quite let go of the weapon in his hand. Still running on survival mode when he caught sight of her. Y/n had been checking on Steve but suddenly that became a secondary issue as a shaking Eddie made his way towards her.
“What is she doing here?” Venom could of dripped from his words as he pointed towards Y/n with the bottle in his hand. She let him walk towards her, let him then push her against a wall. She kept her arms by her sides, well aware that sudden moments weren’t going to help anyone right now as she swallowed her fear. “Nice to see you too.” Y/n’s words were low but he heard them, rolling his eyes and scrutinising her closer whilst the rest of the gang watched with baited breath. “Are you gonna turn me in then? Get back at me for what, breaking your heart?” Eddie didn’t mean any of it, he was angry and right now the only one he felt he could really be angry at was her. Y/n knew, she knew he didn’t mean it by the cracking of his voice, the tears building in his eyes, the fact he let her slowly get the bottle out of his hand, letting it fall to the floor with a dull clatter. “I think you are a lot of things Eddie, but a murderer isn’t one of them.”
“Are you sure you want to stay with him?” It was now coming up to around 1am, the gang had decided to head home with the exception of y/n who had volunteered to stay at the boathouse to keep a eye on Eddie until someone else came to take her place the next day. Steve hadn’t liked the idea, even offering to stay himself despite the fact it was quite possibly his worst plan ever. “I need you to take Dustin home. Besides, despite everything i think he needs a friend right now Stevie.” Eddie watched through a grimy window, listening in on their conversation and hating every minute it. Steve forced a weak smile, knowing she was right and also hating it before saying goodbye and promising to be there first thing the next morning with supplies and a better plan.
“You don’t have to do this yknow, I’m sure i can survive.” Eddie had grumbled as Y/n triple checked the boathouse door. He knew it wouldn’t change her mind, when she was set on something she would see it through, but he wanted to say it out loud, wanted her to believe him. She didn’t of course, hesitating before joining him on the floor and leaning her head against the wall behind them. A sombre silence fell over the pair, a years worth of questions and awkward feelings finally back at the forefront. “Did you really fight Russian soldiers?” Eddie decided to break it first, the quiet only giving him chance to go back over the last 24 hours and he was desperate for anything to take that off of his mind. The smile he drew out from Syd brought some comfort, watching as her fingers skimmed over her jaw. “Dustin and Erica were the ones that got us out of there. We were all on some weird drug so we weren’t exactly much help. Don’t ever piss Henderson off by the way, the kid is a god damn stone cold killer when he wants to be.” Tiny butterflies had begun to flutter in y/n’s stomach again as she pulled a faint laugh from Eddie, the sound reassuring after she winced at her choice of words. But he brushed them off, nudging her foot with his to let her know it was fine, a habit from before. “What did you do to deserve a scar like that?” Eddie had meant it as a joke, or at least partly. But instead all the worry that had built up of not knowing came rushing out, his eyes giving him away as they softly watched her face drop. “Oh yeah. I guess after three kids all saying they worked for Scoops Ahoy they got a little tetchy. Who was i to know Robin and Steve had said the same thing an hour before?”
A odd quiet then seeped into the boathouse, threatening to suffocate whilst they both fought for some kind of conversation. Eddie couldnt help but think about how scared y/n must of been, the fact she had to be tortured by Russians and then fight a giant meat monster from the next realm. They had always told each other everything, it had always been so easy to talk to one another. But now it was different, and she had been through so much without him there to protect her.
So, you and Harrington huh?” Eddie couldn’t think of anything else, all he wanted was for things to go back to the way they were before. For a year he had hated her for loving him, and now he wanted to hate her for moving on. Everything was too much, from their position against the wall he could smell her perfume. It was apple, light and fruity and constantly reminding him that she had changed for the better. Her hair looked soft, with ever flick over the shoulder it sent a waft of strawberry his way, at least she still used the same shampoo. “We aren’t together…i mean we…i guess we’ve had our moments but…i babysit Dustin yknow and him and Steve got close after the last time we had to deal with, this” Y/n was speaking to air, waving her hands around and trying to explain herself. Frustrated that suddenly he cared, annoyed that he still wore the cologne she had got him for his birthday the year before. “But, Steve’s still in love with Nancy. It wouldn’t be right yknow i’d just be…standing in for her. Apparently that’s my type, the hopelessly unavailable.” The words had stumbled out before Y/n could stop them, heat radiating from her face as she slapped her hand to her mouth. Eddie felt caught in headlights. He had been expecting a snide comment, prepared himself for it even. But now all he felt was regret.
The painful silence returned. Y/n shifted in her place, accidentally nudging Eddie’s knee with her own but too distracted with trying figure out how to move on from her mistake to care. Bile was rising in her throat, forcing her to fill the deafening quiet and Eddie could feel it coming, his body tensing as she finally said it. “I’m sorry about Chrissy.” Her voice sounded alien, almost forced as she tried to look at him with anything but a pitying gaze. He wouldn’t meet it, staring at the floor and willing everything back behind an already crumbling barricade, knowing if he did it would all fall apart. “I didn’t…I need you to know that i didn’t fucking do it…i ran yeah i ran away but i…i never would have hurt her.” Eddie’s voice was low, breaking up on every breath as he tried with everything to not cry, not again, not in front of her. But then her hand was in his, soft and manicured instead of bitten and rough and she was squeezing his hand like she had always done before. It set off something within him, a warm feeling blanketing around him, forcing down all his defences as he finally met her gentle stare. “I believe you Eddie.”

separate ways | eddie munson x reader
summary: we can't choose who we love, and we never mean to hurt those that love us when stars don't align.
an: this is really a eddie x chrissy fic with some very painful moments for the reader. i had alot of fun writing this so i hope you guys like it!
“You love her, don’t you?” Y/n had noticed months ago, the first spark obviously being the talent show. She had sat front and centre for her best friends band, whilst the rest of the school had looked on with horror, y/n had been singing along. But he had barely looked at her, his focus on a perfectly pinned ponytail and gentle smile. Chrissy was sat at the back, pretending to care about whatever Jason was talking about but she was staring at him, a light blush tinging her cheeks that Jason thought he had caused. Chrissy was always the nicer one of the popular bunch, but she still went against everything the Hellfire club believed in. He had always emphasised how important being yourself was, how he didn’t care about the status quo losers and yet here he was falling in love with the head cheerleader.
Eddie knew it was wrong, everything in him fighting against it whilst his heart tumbled out towards her every time she glanced his way. They had one or two classes together, Chrissy was never sat anywhere near him of course but every now and then they were paired up to complete a project together. Eddie had done his usual act, that he didn’t care about school or nothing but she had seen right through him. Chrissy knew he cared, knew he could be gentle and kind, that he wasn’t some big scary satanist like the rest of the town wanted her to believe. Of course she had been scared at first, but he had a way of getting under her skin without even knowing what he was doing.
It all really started to spiral out of control a few weeks ago. It had been raining one afternoon and Jason had completely forgotten about her, probably drunk with his friends in that run down burger stop instead of picking up the so called love of his life after cheer practice. Eddie had just got out of detention, already in his van when he drove past the now drenched cheerleader. He didn’t know what made him do it, he owed her nothing but part of him couldn’t leave her out there in the cold. Chrissy had stepped back a few paces when he pulled up and it made his heart sink, she was scared of him just like everyone else. He got out the van, hoping it would make him appear less scary than if he just wound his window down. “Hi…i uhm, well your place is on my way home if you want me to give you a ride?” His hair was sticking to his face, rain running down his arms as he held his hand out towards her. Chrissy opened her mouth, trying to point out that she lived on the complete other side of town then the trailer park but Eddie beat her to it. “I can drop you off around the corner? So your parents don’t see you with the town freak, if that helps?” It was Chrissy’s turn for her stomach to drop, her chest aching as she smiled softly up at the metalhead. “I don’t think you’re a freak, Eddie Munson.” Something in him snapped that day, maybe it was all the hatred that he had for the cliques of Hawkins, all the hell they had put him through suddenly melted away in that one moment of kindness. Thats what made him love Chrissy Cunningham, she was kind, even to freaks like him. Once they were both in his van, Eddie became aware of how gross it was. Chrissy was sitting next to him but she didn’t look real, sort of out of place surrounded by beer cans and year old cigarette butts. “Sorry about the uh..mess. Pretty girls aren’t exactly my usual ride share.” Eddie had said it before he could stop himself, heart once again in his throat as he froze. But Chrissy didn’t shove him away, she didn’t act disgusted or even ignore him, she smiled. The wide grin and giggle that came with it woking like a balm over Eddie’s various high school wounds. “You think I’m pretty?”
Chrissy had never felt so comfortable with someone. Eddie made her laugh, something no one had managed in months. His radio was on low as they drove through Hawkins, Led Zeppelin barely above a whisper. He was driving slowly, well slower then he usually did, partly so he didn’t scare her but also because he couldnt keep his eyes on the road. She was talking, asking him questions about Hellfire, what he wanted todo after school, if he was going to try get a record label with his band. “Do you really think a label would take us?” She had never seen him like this, the cocky facade forgotten as insecurity seeped into his usually confident voice. Chrissy had rolled her eyes playfully “Are you kidding?! Corroded Coffin are going to be huge, i can already see you now. Record deals, sold out stadiums, the whole rockstar works.” She was animated, moving her hands as she spoke with wide eyes, her voice growing from the usual whisper he was used to hearing. Eddie couldnt help but smile, running a hand through his hair before glancing over at the cheerleader in the passenger seat. “And what about you Chrissy Cunningham? What do you want after your rule at Hawkins High comes to its fairy tale end.” She hesitated at that, her eyes turning to the grey outside world around them. “I don’t know, I always wanted to be a writer growing up, maybe i will do that.” Eddie had sensed the sadness that so quickly had shut her off from him again. Slowly, hesitating and then thinking fuck it, Eddie reached for her hand, squeezing it gently. “Hey, you’re gonna do something great. The best selling author in New York, all writers live in New York.” Chrissy had laughed at that, but it was quieter than before. All too soon Eddie had pulled up around the corner from her home, but neither let go of each others hands. “Maybe I could visit you, in New York, yknow when Corroded Coffin sell out the garden.” Eddie got giddy at that, their future selves staring back through the windshield. “It’s a date, Chrissy.”
Eddie had jumped out his van once more, running to open the passenger door and helping her down. For a second the two hesitated walking away, sensing that they had started something neither would be able to control. Chrissy felt overwhelmed, here she was in the rain, just like in those silly rom-com movies with Eddie Munson. Quickly, before she could talk herself out it, she leaned up on her tiptoes and pressed a kiss to his cheek. Time might of stopped, the world, the whole damn universe came to a halt in that one moment. Eddie’s face turned bright red, feeling like he was 12 all over again. Chrissy had smiled up at him “Thanks for the ride.” Her words were whispered, and his hands were aching to hold her but she had ran off towards her home before he had the chance. Eddie couldnt believe it, that for the first time in his life someone had made him speechless, and worst of all it was the head cheerleader. “Anytime, Chrissy.”
That brought him back to now, back in the rain but now outside his friends house. Y/n and Eddie had been friends since Elementary, they had done everything together, practically fought through high school side by side. She was everything to him, but they were like brother and sister, at least thats what he had always thought. Now he wasn’t so sure, the pain in her voice still echoing around him as he watched her watch him through the downpour. Y/n was shivering, but she wouldn’t go near him despite his pleading. “What are you talking about?” Eddie knew what she was talking about, he knew she was about to shatter everything. He had known this was coming when she spotted him picking up Chrissy on the corner near her house when she had been on her way to get Dustin from the Wheelers. Their lovesick smiles, it had felt like a knife to the chest, to the heart. “Don’t do that Eddie, dont act like you don’t know what I’m fucking talking about. You and the head cheerleader, sneaking around, you fucking love her dont you!” Y/n couldn’t help the the anger in her voice, couldnt still the heaving of her chest as she glared up at Eddie. They had been through so much together, bullied by the same people that Chrissy considered friends, and here he was, in love with her just like everyone else in Hawkins. She knew she was jealous, she knew this wasn’t fair, but she couldnt help it. “So what if I love her Y/n! So what! Okay yeah i love her alright, she makes me happy okay! Is that what you want to hear? When I’m with her I dont feel like so much of a freak!” Those words settled under y/n's skin, tearing up her insides, burning everything she thought she knew. She was crying, tears mixing with rain, knees weak. Eddie was red in the face, his own words hitting him in the gut as he realised what he had said. But as he reached out for her, y/n stumbled away, shaking her head vehemently. “So what I’m hearing Munson, is with me your a freak and with her your what? Normal? The very thing we have fucking despised since we were kids?” Eddie shook his head, puppy dog eyes wide and shaking with frustration. “Yeah y/n, she makes me feel fucking normal is that a crime ?” A odd calm settled over y/n, like the calm before the storm. There was nothing in her eyes but betrayal, the green eyed monster glaring through her hazel eyes. “I loved you because you were a freak, not despite it. Remember that when she pretends you don’t exist in the hallways at school.” Y/n pushed past Eddie, trying to make her way back inside her home when his hand gripped her arm almost painfully. “For the record y/n, Chrissy never thought i was a freak in the first place.” Eddie let go of her arm, the formally inseparable pair going their separate ways.
Both their bones ached, the feeling of not being friends so alien. Y/n buried herself under her blankets, tears stinging her face as she tried to get a grip. Eddie hit the dashboard of his van, yelling ‘Fuck’ as his hand stung. A polaroid fell down from his mirror. It was him and y/n the day of the talent show, she had made a Corroded Coffin shirt and worn it proudly every day that week to school. Eddie was smiling next to her, arm wrapped around her shoulders and squashing their faces together. In the background Chrissy stood on stage, the talent show trophy in her hands as she grinned to the crowd. Eddie rubbed his face, turning on the radio in an attempt to drown out the entire afternoon. But for once, Journey only made things worse as ‘Seperate Ways’ began to play.

goodnight, blood sucker | eddie munson x reader
summary: robin and steve are stuck with closing up family video, what they didn't expect was to catch the freak and the babysitter leaving a late night showing of lost boys.
an: this is a continuation of my other fic 'head over heals' but it can be read without that part if you haven't seen it! i do reference shrek 2 in this, i couldn't help myself! ALSO i just wanted to say a quick thank you so much for all the love recently, the fact people enjoy my silly stories is mad and i am so grateful to everyone! anyways, enjoy!!
Hawkins was quiet, it’s streets lowly lit as the final dregs of cinema goers poured out the front doors. Robin and Steve were across the street, just finishing closing up after Keith made them stay late to reorganise the horror section. Steve was grumbling about something, but his complaining came to a halt when Robin whacked him in the arm repeatedly. “Hey! Hey! what was that for?!” But Robin didn’t spare him a second glance, her eyes stuck on the pair across the street, their laughter rippling through the night. “Shut up dingus, look!?!” Steve rolled his eyes, huffing when Robin elbowed him in the stomach (he never got away with anything.) But as he was about to respond, or at least complain about yet again being called ‘dingus’, he finally realised what Robin was going on about.
Across the street, slowly making their way out of the cinema was Eddie ‘the freak’ Munson and Y/n L/n. She had been in Steve’s english class, always sitting at the back and usually paired with Munson in the hope she could be a good influence. She had helped Nancy out with a few things for the paper, mainly writing fictional stories for the back page. Y/n had been kept behind with Eddie after failing the maths final at least four times now. Steve didn’t remember much about her at high school, the two only coming into contact after he got closer with Dustin, with her being Henderson’s babysitter since she was 15. The whole Upside Down business had obviously involved y/n, with her following Dustin after he snuck out one night to help Steve. They were friends, sort of, maybe? At school she was usually in the library, but Robin had noticed Eddie driving her home every night, and walking with her to every class. He would rush off at lunch, leaving his loyal minions behind to meet her by her locker. It was cute.
But now, this was the most emotion they had ever seen from her. She was doubled over laughing, a bright smile taking over the usual blank expression on her face. Eddie was stood in front of her, a dark look on his face as he held out his half empty slushy towards her as menacingly as he could manage. “Drink this y/n. Become one of us.” He had made his voice deep and scratchy, holding his body strangely upright, head tilted down to exaggerate the shadows cast by the flickering street lights. Eddie’s eyes narrowed, deviously twinkling in the light, y/n took the cup from his hand. As she drank the slushy, some fell down the sides of her mouth, staining it a deep red. A tinge of the slushy clung to her teeth, a symptom of the syrup collecting at the bottom, she stuck out her red tinged tongue at Eddie when she caught him staring. “Mmmm, cherry flavoured…want a taste?”
Eddie felt like he could fly, the weight he always seemed to carry with him suddenly easier as y/n giggled up at him, breaking the serious look that she had managed to keep up for all of two minutes. He was towering over her, and took that moment to wipe the sides of her mouth with his thumb, scooping up the blood/slushy and eagerly sticking it into his own mouth. Y/n felt her face flush, leaning into his chest to hide the love stuck look in her eyes. But Eddie was having none of it, gently tilting her back towards him, missing the warmth of her eyes. He smiled gently, pressing a sticky cherry stained kiss to her forehead before locking her hand within his.
Just as Robin and Steve thought their eyes might drop out their heads at the sweetness of the couple, y/n pulled away from Eddie whilst yelling “Goodnight, blood sucker!” She ran up the sidewalk, heart beating fiercely in her ears as she tried to sprint away from him. But she didn’t get far when she felt Eddie’s arms wrap around her waist. Twirling her around and lifting her effortlessly into the air, their laughter once more intertwined, a symphony of young love that was making the watching family video store employees feel sick.
Eddie soon came to a stop, lowering y/n to the ground and finally getting the kiss he had been waiting for since she had barged into Wheelers basement. His heart flipped when he felt her hands grip onto his shirt, leaning up and into him with a satisfied hum. After a minute or so the pair finally pulled apart, leaning their foreheads on one another, sharing the air and grinning like love struck idiots. “Lets get you home, sweetheart. I’m pretty sure your dad will put a stake through my chest if you are late again.”
Steve and Robin shared whilst the pair across the street disappeared around the corner. “What am I doing wrong Buckley? Even Munson has a girl!” Before Robin could answer a voice responded for her “Maybe start with not gawking at pretty ladies from under a streetlight Harrington!” Eddie’s face appeared from around the corner, sending a wink at the two before y/n tugged him back. Steve and Robin’s faces dropped, they were never going to hear the end of this one.

head over heels | eddie munson x reader
summary: interrupting a campaign was strictly a no go, unless a certain dungeon master had promised to take you to the cinema and his campaign was running over time. ;)
an: for this one the reader is just dustin's babysitter (major competition for steve, i know!) but if you want to read this as the reader being his sister you are more than welcome to! ALSO for this one i have gone back to using y/n. but i think i will be using Sid again sometime soon, so if you have been liking her then don't fear! she will return ;)
“He should just be down here, they’ve been down there all day y/n.” Various odd voices and giggling floated through the Wheeler household, getting louder the closer y/n got to the basement door. As Nancy opened it, the smell of spilt rola cola, cheesy covered crisps and too much cologne wafted upstairs. The two women both shared a look, Nancy offering a smile as y/n ventured into the darkness “Good luck prying them away.”
Creeping down the stairs as quietly as she could, holding in her own laughter as she listened to the row of conversations mingling over one another. She wondered how they ever got through any of Eddie’s campaigns if they carried on like this all the time. Soon enough she reached the bottom of the stairs, still hidden under cover of the basements dull lighting, for ambience of course. Y/n sat down on the bottom step, cringing at the slight creak it made as she rested back. Technically they still had five more minutes before they had to leave, she had time to watch.
“My friends your party is injured, your eyes are weary from your plight. Why not rest, a cottage awaits in the distance. Windows warmly lit by candlelight, smoke from a well stocked fire puffing from the chimney, the smell of a hearty dinner sending aches into your long empty bellies. Rest my friends, you will need your energy soon.” Eddie’s gaze was low, mischief twinkling in the darkness of his eyes as he spoke deeply. A strangely comforting lilt dripped from his voice, an echo of a odd accent clinging to his words as he lulled his friends into false security. Y/n watched from the darkness, rolling her eyes at the obviousness of the trap. The party shared a look, Dustin and Erica already two steps ahead of the rest. But Eddie was right, they were wounded and in need of help, even if it would bite them in the backs later. Erica nodded at Dustin, a grim look on all their faces as they agreed to proceed towards the cottage.
A cheshire cat grin took over Eddie’s face, leaning back into his throne that he had managed to ‘liberate’ from the high school drama club for the weekend, curtesy of y/n. “A young woman answers the door, welcoming you in warmly. She is pretty, her eyes bright in the dark night, you feel you can trust her. The woman’s name is Deys. She offers you all soup to replenish your health, and beds to sleep. She sings a haunting lullaby, wrapping you all in a heavy slumber. What are your actions for when, or if you awake?” His voice dropped lower for the final sentence, sending shivers through the entire room. Even Sid couldnt help the way her nerves were set on edge by Eddie’s narrative, he always seemed to have that effect on her.
Suddenly a low voice called out from the darkness, the strangers face hidden until she slowly crept around the table. Her words trailing around the party, whereabouts unknown, “Wake indeed my lovelies, i’d like to see you try, for you are under my enchantment, the only option is…to die!” In an instant y/n plummeted her hands onto Dustin’s shoulders, gripping tightly as he squealed loudly. The rest of the party yelled, Gareth and Jeff ended up on the floor as Mike and Erica  held onto their stomachs laughing, their fingers pointing at both Dustin and Eddie for the girl-like squeals that had left them. Y/n found herself doubled over, her laughter twinkling around as she grinned at the pair. “You boys make it so easy sometimes!”
Eddie’s gaze was glowering, faux pissed off but a smile soon took over his face. He couldn't stay mad for long at y/n, the tears in her eyes and wide smile that she covered with her hand making his stomach do somersaults. “I am sorry my lords and lady, but it is way past Sir Dustybuns curfew aaannd i already covered his butt the last time one of your campaigns went on too long,  aaanndd your king promised me he would take me to see The Lost Boys, which we are about to miss!” Y/n's pointed gaze settled on Eddie, her raised eyebrow enough to send him scrambling to his feet, pulling Dustin up with him before grabbing his jacket. “Apologies, my lady.” To try and make up for forgetting he attempted to worm his arm around y/n's waist, leaning in to press a kiss to her cheek. But y/n had already turned around. “You're gonna have to do a lot more than that if we miss this showing Munson!”
Dustin’s backpack was already over his shoulder as followed the pair up the stairs, his face pink as Gareth and Jeff made kissy faces up at him. “Well at least i have a girl to do that with and not some snotty old pillow like you Gareth!” Eddie shouted down to the basement, his face growing even redder when he came face to face with Nancy at the top of the stairs. “Thanks again Wheeler.” Eddie mumbled as he walked through the living room and then out the front door to find y/n and Dustin bickering “I told you not to call me that in front of the party!” Henderson complained as he opened up the car door, slinging his bag in first. y/n rolled her eyes “So what I’m hearing is you want me to tell your mum about those late night phone calls with Suziepoo?” From the back of her car Dustin mumbled a low no, pink tinging his cheeks as he opted to looking out the window instead of risking annoying y/n further.
Eddie climbed into the passenger seat, pressing a kiss to y/n's cheek as he buckled her seatbelt. She couldnt help but smile at that, ignoring Dustin's retching as she pulled Eddie closer, pressing a sweet kiss to the corner of his mouth before starting the car. He reached for the radio, ready to turn on his music when y/n's hand stopped him in his tracks. “If you think I’m letting you play your music after you have made us late to see Lost Boys, then you better start thinking straight Edward Munson.” y/n's voice was playful, but he knew she wasn’t joking after she let go of his arm, turning the volume to full as ‘Head over Heels’ filled the car. “Haven’t I been punished enough, my love!” He groaned, head hitting the back of his seat, to no avail.
Eddie rolled his eyes, sticking his tongue out at the music, turning his head so neither of them could see the gentle smile on his face. But in the low afternoon light, with his girl next to him dressed in his favourite jeans, hair left down and wild around her shoulders, singing obnoxiously loud to Tears for Fears, he couldn’t help singing along. ‘Something happens and I'm head over heels, I never find out until I'm head over heels’

second star to the right | eddie munson x reader
summary: there's a shooting star and they are by the lake. but what do you wish for when all you ever wanted is sitting next to you?
an: hi lovelies! this is just a little thought i had, its insanely cheesy so a nice break from all the sad stuff! i hope you enjoy! ALSO i have named the reader 'Sid' again. If that is something you enjoy, big apologies! I'm just trying out a few things :) anyways, enjoy!
A hushed giggling had filled the night air, twirling around the pair like the smoke above their heads as they stared up at the stars. Eddie had opened up the back doors of his van, his radio on low in hopes they wouldn’t get busted again for ‘loitering’. Sid was focused on the stars, their head resting on his crossed legs, curls tangled in his hand as he absentmindedly twirled the strands. He had been reading aloud, enthralled in the action of The Hobbit that the two had restarted over the summer. They had only just started and Sid had been forced to sit up when Eddie gave the dwarves various different voices, his eyes lighting up as she grinned widely. But that had been before he started singing, a deep slightly off key lullaby lulling Sid back into his lap as he told the tale of dwarves of the mountain, his voice trembling over ‘far over the misty mountains cold.’
For a moment Eddie closed his eyes, revelling in the hushed silence following his performance. Until he picked up on the heavy breathing coming from the now sleeping Sid in his lap. Slowly he placed the book down, too shocked to even utter a snarky remark as he watched her silently. Her face was smushed into his lap, twitching every now and again as she sighed against him, a curl falling stray and into her face. As gently as he could, Eddie reached down and tucked it back behind her ear. But his hand lingered in her hair, gently burrowing into the curls and scratching slightly, smirking as she keened into him. “You really make the whole ‘dont fall in love with your best friend’ thing difficult when you do things like this, sweetheart.”
Suddenly he was met with her hazel eyes, still clouded with sleep as she gazed up at him. “What are you looking at? Is there something on my face?” Her words were dowsed with the after effects of her slumber, pulling at Eddie’s heart strings as she sat up slowly, covering her mouth as she yawned and pulled a hand through her tangled hair. Eddie felt frozen, thoughts racing as he tried to pretend he wasn’t freaking out. “No, no, no, no, nothing on your face. You just uh…nodded off for a minute there….i was just making sure you were okay.”
Something about Eddie’s voice gave him away, the lilt to it, strained an unconvincing by the end as he crumbed under her gentle stare. Sid chose to ignore it, shrugging her shoulders as she moved to lean into his side. Eddie pulled back slightly, eyes wide before wriggling his arm around her, resting on her waist gently. The pair leaned against one another, hearts almost touching whilst they stared out into the night sky. Sid could hear the thundering of her own heart, and prayed to Stevie Nicks that Eddie couldn’t hear it.
Eddie opened his mouth to speak, attempting to get back to reading when Sid suddenly gasped. Gripping onto his arm as she leaned out of the van, her hand pointing to the sky before whipping her head back at him, wonderstruck. “Eds a shooting star! It was a shooting star did you see it!?” Maybe it was in that moment that cupid finally fired his bow, maybe Sid had just caught a glimpse of the arrows heading their way. The pain of them striking covered by a bedazzlement, a enchantment that would fall over the pair like a warm blanket on a cold day. Eddie pulled her back into him, grinning as she squealed, their faces inches apart…not that they noticed or wanted to address it. “Aren’t you going to wish for something?” Sid whispered after a few seconds had passed by, too lost in the comfort of her best friends dark eyes to think. His gentle smile felt like sunshine, caressing her face in the pink of the night. Slowly, he pushed her curls back behind her ear, lingering as he held her face as if she would break. His eyes were flickering like a candle, torn between her lips and her own hazel eyes. Since he could talk, Eddie Munson had never been lost for words. But now, here with the only person he ever wanted to be with finally in his arms, he found himself void of poetry or prose that could explain everything. So he opted for something simple, cliche and prayed it would do the trick. After squeezing his eyes shut, really making a drama out if it, Eddie finally looked back at her, full of mischief “okay, done.”
Sid scrunched her nose at that, willing the gods to push him an inch closer, to close the gap. “And what did you wish for, pray tell.” For a split second, the thought of rejection set every nerve in her body aflame. But the fear was quickly extinguished, the fires taken over by something much more ferocious as Eddie closed the gap. Soft and slow, pouring everything into that one kiss. The Hobbit fell away from his hands as he held onto her waist, pulling her into his lap and deepening the kiss. “That would be telling now wouldn’t it, princess. But I think it’s obvious..” Eddie pulled her impossibly closer, his lips against her ear and sending shivers down her spine with each breathe. “I wished for you.”

if i didn't know better | eddie munson x reader pt.2
an: hi lovelies! sorry this part took a little longer to come out. there is one more part to this series im planning and then i think i will go back to stand alone's for a while. i hope you enjoy this part. i also just wanted to say thank you so much for the love and support, it might sound silly but it means the world to me. anyway, i hope you enjoy!
Static took over from the previous scene, giving Y/N a breather as they finally sat a little further back from the TV screen. She hasn’t even realised she had pushed herself so close towards to it until the static had reached out, crackling gently along her face. After a few minutes had passed, and a new video didn’t take the old ones place, Y/N found staring into the empty spot beside her. Tired eyes glued to the burnt spot on her carpet, it had been an accident; Eddie had dropped his ciggie on the way to his place by the window. For the past two weeks it had been the only evidence she had that he had ever even existed.
Tears began to well once more until the cassette player finally began to whir itself back to life. Behind the static, an image of a brightly lit stage and a crowded dance floor finally came into view. The audio was sputtering, starting and stopping until Y/N whacked it on the side. That was supposed to be Eddie’s job, to make the tapes play when the box was giving up. It was all making the ache weigh heavier on her bones. But as she reached to turn the tv off, to give into the feeling again, the audio began make sense. Behind the now faint static, Y/N could make out Gareth, Jeff and Eddie all leaning on one another, playing like their lives depended on it as they gave the audience what they wanted. They were in their element, smirks heavy on their faces and loving every second of it. Y/N gasped, resuming her position of no less than 5cm away from the screen, hands covering a smile, once again looked up at Eddie Munson with adoring eyes as ‘The Last in Line’ by Dio drifted around her.
‘If you stopped squirming this would be a hell of a lot easier yknow?” Y/N huffed, grabbing his face and steadying it once more as she tried to focus. Eddie rolled his eyes, trying his best to stay still and keep his arms at his sides despite his current position. “You try having a stick shoved in your eye and stay still, princess.” They were backstage, the sound of ‘The Hideout’ busying up already rattling around into his ‘dressing room.’ The air was hazy with smoke and hairspray, and sat in his lap was his beloved best friend Y/N. She held the pencil like a lethal weapon, bottom lip held between her teeth as she attempted to apply the eyeliner. Her brow was furrowed, face completely ruled by focus as she pulled back slightly, licking her thumb and dragging it under his eyes. Y/N then leaned back further, assessing her work and fluffing his hair a bit more before nodding slowly. “There, now you at least look like a rockstar whether or not you will sound like one is out of my hands.” The cheeky smirk that had taken over Y/N’s face soon fell away into a cacophony of giggling when Eddie tickled her sides. Pushing her onto the sofa beside him and leaning over her, mercilessly jabbing at her ribs and not giving in despite her cries. “Say it! You know the magic words sweetheart.” Eddie was glowering down at her, triumph as she finally gave in, her voice desperate and making his knees weak. “Corroded Coffin are the best band ever, maybe even better than Metallica!” With that he stopped, smiling widely as she scowled up at him in faux annoyance. “I wouldn’t go that far, but maybe some day.”
A awkward cough forced the two apart as they finally noticed Gareth standing by the door. Y/N offered a sheepish grin, taking Eddie’s hand happily as he helped her up from the sofa. “I best go get a good spot out there, gotta get a good view for Wayne.” With one final hug, Y/N grabbed the video camera and made her way out to the crowd. Eddie had watched her leave, his heart beating far too loudly in his chest. It had taken all the power in the world and a prayer to Ozzy to not kiss her when he had picked her up from her house an hour before. She always looked beautiful to him, but she had gone all out just for a silly gig at the Hideout. She had the eyeliner, the ratted hair, the painted black lips of the rock and roll girl of his dreams. But more than that, she had made herself a Corroded Coffin band t-shirt. It had made his heart melt, adding to the now roaring furnace that was burning between the two. Gareth rolled his eyes, shoving Eddie playfully “Your down bad Munson. I thought you were going to tell her tonight?” Eddie had pushed him back, his gaze still dreamy as he nodded his head slowly. “Im gonna man, i just need…the opportune moment yknow. Can’t confess my love to her in a sweaty dressing room.” Gareth laughed, the two of them grabbing their guitars as they made their way to the stage “Oh yeah because the back of your gross van is wayyy more romantic.”
From the minute the boys walked on stage, Eddie had been searching for her. The crowd was packed, and nerves had shaken him for the first two songs as he tried desperately to find her comforting grin. But around halfway through the set he found her, how he missed her was a wonder. Dead centre, camera a little off as she stared up at him, her eyes as wide as her grin as she cheered him on. He watched her mouth along to the words, and maybe in that small moment the world faded away, maybe the earth even stopped spinning. Eddie Munson was struck with something, call it courage, call it adrenaline, he sent a wink out towards her, pointing Y/N out in the crowd before leaning against Gareth for the line ‘You can release yourself, But the only way to go is down.’
A shaking hand paused the video, the boys mid performance with Eddie focused on somebody in the crowd rather than the camera. At the time Y/N had been annoyed, jealousy turning into anger when he had driven her back home. She remembered the argument, they hadn’t talked for two days after she accused him of watching some pretty girl instead of focusing on the camera. She had promised Wayne that she would get a good video for him, and now half of it was filled with his talented idiot of a nephew drooling over a stranger. It had been the longest the two had ever gone without talking to one another, and the pain of it had been unbearable. Y/N hugged her knees, tears stinging her face as she remembered them finally making up. It had felt like a movie, unreal and totally perfect. But thats what Eddie Munson had always been to her, unreal and utterly perfect.
It had started slowly but soon enough a storm began raining hellfire down onto Hawkins. The pair hadn’t been talking for three days now and he had been stubborn, completely ignorant to why Y/N was so upset with him, unaware of the jealousy that had taken control that night. He had lost all his previous courage to admit that the girl he had been drooling over was in fact her. But as the storm continued on, growing more violent as the minutes passed by Eddie felt a itch to leave his trailer and go to her. She had always hated thunder, and her parents were away that week leaving her in that house all alone. Eddie had paced back and forth in his room, debating whether or not this heroic deed would be enough to win his princess back. By the time he had gotten dressed an hour had gone by, and as he pulled opened his door he found his girl dripping wet and shivering in the rain, her exhausted face highlighted by the artificial light of his trailer. “Are you crazy?” His hands had gripped her tightly, pulling her into the warmth, into him. For a long while the two just stood there, holding onto one another as water dripped from Y/N’s clothes, creating a small puddle at her feet. Eddie kissed her forehead gently before holding her face in his hands, giving her a stern look as she looked up at him with large watery eyes. “I’m sorry Eds, I just…i wanted the video to be perfect for Wayne, and then i…well i thought you were too busy staring at some girl to…to notice me…to make the video perfect for him.” Eddie sighed, his stomach containing possible every butterfly ever as he let her ramble. “And then i just, i felt stupid for losing it at you. And then my parents were gone and the house was quiet, and Dusty, yknow the kid I’m babysitting well he wanted to watch a horror and it had freaked me out, and then this fucking storm i mean whats with that? And i wanted to ring i really did but i felt bad so i thought fuck it ill walk and then it started really pouring so i ran but i didn’t realise quiet how far from me you were and really i just…i miss..oh” Eddie couldn’t take it any longer, her darting hazel eyes, shaking frame, the way she was explaining with her hands, the clear lack of sleep. It all just pushed him to finally do it, bite the bullet and fucking give in to the god knows how many years of tension between the two.
Her lips were soft on his, her own hands gripping onto him after a minute as she ran them through his hair, leaning up into the kiss and egging him on. It was soft, full of everything they couldnt say to one another, of all the things they had wanted to say, it was full of the love they had for each other that they had only just realised they had.The weight of guilt that had been hanging on to Eddie ever since he had realised he loved her began to fall away with each pleading whimper that he pulled from Y/N. Their breathe mixing together as they leaned in, foreheads leaning on one another as they panted for air. “When did you know?” His question was needy, dripping with the want for her to have loved him for as long as he had loved her. She averted his gaze, eyes trying to focus on anything but his deep brown stare. But a hand had pulled her back to him, resting on her jaw line as he raised an eyebrow.
“Elementary. Back when I first moved to Hawkins. You were sat under that cluster of trees reading The Hobbit. You had been the only one to smile at me when i had to introduce myself to the class, so i figured you were a safe bet for a friend…You read me the chapter where Bilbo meets the Trolls and did all the voices. I’m pretty sure i was in love with you by the second sentence.” Eddie’s heart felt like it could burst, pulling her into him once more in an attempt to hide the tears welling in his eyes. Y/N could hear his heart beating, it sounded like a jet plane trapped in his chest, or a million butterflies. “What about you?” Her words were slightly mumbled but he knew them, their vibrations sending a warm feeling throughout his body. Sort of like how the sun feels on a summers day, or a childhood memory. “Elementary. I think i loved you from the minute you stood in front of the class and your fun fact was that your favourite muppet was Animal. But, you really had my heart when you poured chocolate milk on Jason after he got one of his idiot friends to put gum in my hair.”
The pair giggled, until Y/N began to shiver against Eddie again, her cold hands slipping under his shirt and around his waist to steal his heat. Eddie yelped, a grin taking over from the frown as she smiled up at him sweetly. “Lets get you warm, princess.” It was Y/Ns turn to yelp as Eddie scooped her up into his arms, strolling towards his bedroom as he peppered her face with kisses. After setting her down on his bed, he moved away to put on a record, quickly making his way back to his girl with a fresh shirt and shorts. Led Zeppelins ‘Whole Lotta Love’ filled the air, telling Wayne everything he needed to know when he got home ten minutes later.

meant to be | eddie munson x reader
summary: the gang is all grown up, but Dustin returns to Hawkins to see an old friend ;)
an: i'm in a terribly sad mood so i wrote this, its just a quickie whilst i finish up some other things. i'm sorry in advance lovelies. ALSO i have named the reader Sid, i'm sorry if that isn't your thing but i'm just trying a few things out. enjoy! (again this was just a quickie so if things don't make sense timeline wise please just look over it, well thought through plot lines will resume shortly)
Dustin didn’t quite know what to expect when he knocked on the peeling front door, flakes falling to the aching wooden floor as he waited for it to open. He had heard rumours from the others, some sad some…not so sad. Everyone had to make the trip back some day, he had meant for that day to be sooner but time got away from him. Suddenly it had been far too many summers since he had been back in his home town since getting married. Splitting the holidays between his mothers and Suzie’s became easier when his mum died. As awful as it was, Dustin had felt freed. All the others had moved out, putting the town and everything that had happened there behind them. His mother had been the only thing still tying him there. But it had been keeping him awake at night, weighing him down that she had never got to meet them.
Suddenly the sound of keys jangling, locks clicking brought Dustin out of his train of thought. The door was finally opening, revealing a tired face. For a few minutes, the years that had passed them by dominated their appearance. Deep set crows feet, laugh lines, a streak of silver hair running through their once deep curls. “Can i help you?” Her tone was short, clearly only on their second coffee of the day. Dustin tried to smile, hoping he hadn’t changed so much that they had forgotten him. But soon enough something passed over their eyes from behind their thick rimmed glasses, a sparkle of recognition instantly washing the years away. In an instant the door was thrown open, arms flung around his shoulders and pulling them down to his height. “Henderson! I don’t remember you being this tall at the wedding! If i knew you were back in town i…well i would of at least brushed my hair!” The smell of cigarettes and home cooking mixed with their perfume, bringing a strange comfort to Dustin as he squeezed them closer. “It's good to see you too, Sid. Can we come in?”
Sid pulled away slowly, their eyes wide as confusion clouded back over their now hazy hazel eyes. “We?” They were looking up at Dustin, hands in their overalls quickly flying to cover their mouth as a small face peaked out from behind him. Suddenly they were crouching down, their glasses pushed into their curls like a strange crown, eyes turning soft and warm as a cheeky smile took over their face. Dustin felt transported to when they first met, shrinking back down to his former height as they recanted the same words they had said to him. “Hey there, I don’t believe we’ve met.”
It was Dustin’s turn to crouch down now, an arm around the child behind him as he ushered them towards Sid, their outstretched hand open and patiently waiting for their own tiny hand to return the favour. Dustin helped them along, encouraging them gently and smiling widely as the two shook hands. “Sid, I want you to meet my daughter…Edie.”
Their eyes instantly widened, feeling as though the air had been knocked out of them as they looked over the young girl. She had Dustin’s curls, his smile, probably his confidence as she got older but her eyes were Suzie’s, full of a hidden mischief that felt dangerously familiar. Tears were already clouding Sid’s eyes as they held the little girls hand gently. “Edie…what a, pretty name. Yknow, that reminds me of someone really special your dad and i used to know. I’m Sydney…but you princess, can call me Sid.”
Dustin and Edie were quickly ushered into Sids home, the promise of fresh baked cookies prising a cheeky smile out of the young Henderson. Whilst Edie watched TV, Dustin and Sid talked in the kitchen. Their voices low, Sids eyes constantly switching to the young girl as Dustin stared at the old photos that littered the walls. The pair had been talking about nothing, classic adult gossip of how the Wheelers were doing, if they had heard from Robin at all, how tall the Harrington’s were getting. “You don’t think he would mind, do you?” His question made Sid’s knees feel weak, forcing her to grip the counter as she forced a tender smile. As she shook her head, Dustin didn’t miss the quivering smile on her face. “He would of loved it Dusty, he would of loved her.”
It was Henderson’s turn to cry now, his hand reaching for Sids as they both stared at a picture from senior year. It had been taken three months before the gates began to be opened again. They were all together, Sid on his back and pressing a kiss to his cheek, Dustin, Steve and Robin faux gagging, Nancy was grinning at the camera, the rest of the kids fading into the back ground as the pair focused on him. “He always had a way of pulling focus, even if he didn’t mean to didn’t he?” Dustin’s voice shook as he spoke, his grip on Sid’s hand growing tighter as they nodded their head. Before Sid could speak, Edie interrupted the two. A picture in hand, her sticky fingers marking the frame as she asked “Daddy, whose this man with the funny hair.” Dustin opened his mouth to respond, but Sid beat him to the chase. Already sat at his daughters side, pulling a photo album into her lap and smiling once again at her new niece. “That my love, was your uncle…his name was Eddie Munson. We were...friends, for a very very long time.”
“Where's uncle Eddie now?”
“In the stars sweetheart, where he was always meant to be.”

if i didn't know better | eddie munson x reader pt.1
an: based on marjorie by taylor swift, mainly focusing on ‘if i didn’t know better, id think you were singing to me now.’ I’ve had to split this up into two parts currently, but i might end up splitting it up further once the second part is fully written. I hope you guys enjoy this, it ended up being a lot longer than i expected but i just couldn’t stop writing :)
warning: very sad lovelies, there is a buffy reference (don't know if that needs a warning but thought i'd acknowledge it.)
Wayne Munson stood awkwardly outside of the L/N’s household, his knuckles turning white as he gripped an overflowing cardboard box. Scrawling writing covered all sides reading ‘hands off’, the permanent marker now faded from Wayne tracing back over the letters, trying to cling onto his nephew in any way he could. But after five minutes passed by Wayne began to give up hope on anyone opening the door, until it finally began to slowly creak open and despite his best efforts, he couldn’t hold back the tears as she finally came into view. He remembered when Eddie first mentioned her in passing, he had been a year or two into middle school. His nephew had always been different, but now the other kids and their stuck up parents were really noticing, giving him shit for refusing to bend to their moulds. Wayne had been so proud of him for sticking to his guns, not changing for no one no matter what they did to him, he was even prouder when the two became friends. Despite knowing, even back then that they were destined for far more then just buddies.
Y/N looked tired. Still in the same clothes from the day they went into the upside down. Her under eyes were almost purple in the daylight, the usual glow in her skin missing, replaced with dull tones making her look static. Her hair was tangled mess of curls, missing their usual pampering as they sat depressed about her shoulders. Everything about the young girl felt shrunken, destroyed after the past weeks events. Wayne tried to offer her smile, and Y/N half heartedly faked one back. Her usually bright hazel eyes now sunken in and devoid of their light.
“How you doing kiddo?” Wayne’s voice was strained. He probably looked no better than Y/N, still stuck in the same clothes from when Dustin had told him as much as he could. That's how they both felt, stuck in that never ending moment. He was willing Y/N to give him some hope that things would get better, that there was someway out of the darkness, but she was as lost as him. Her cheeks were stained with week old tears, eyes welling up as she found it harder and harder to lie. Shaking her head, a wobbly smile on her face as she willed herself to be strong for Wayne, but there was nothing in her anymore. Within minutes the cardboard box Wayne had been carrying was on the floor as the young girl fell into his arms. The pair held one another, he tried his best to comfort her but his own anguish took a strong hold of him the minute he heard her sobbing. Y/N couldn’t stop it, couldn’t pull her self together as Eddie’s words were echoed by his uncle that had become part of her family ever since the day they met. “I’ve got you kid, I’ve got you.”
Five or so minutes passed by, the two simply holding each other before Wayne pulled away, coughing awkwardly as he ruffled Y/N’s hair. His body froze at the action something so simple, muscle memory of a old habit he had shared with Eddie ever since he came to live with him. Every morning before school, even when it was buzzed, he would dishevel the young metalhead’s hair, secretly grinning at the annoyed gaze he would get in return. “I uhm…I brought you a few things kid. He uhm…well I’ve kept everything the way it was before…before uh, i just thought you…i thought he would of wanted you to have some of it.” Wayne picked the cardboard box back up, pushing it towards Y/N’s shaking arms, her wide eyes saying everything as she realised what was inside. Her lips quivered, eyes welling once more as she looked from the box to Wayne to back inside the box. There were no words she could find that would thank him enough. But just like his nephew, the older Munson seemed to already know what to say. “You don’t have to say anything sweetheart, you come and see me when you are doing better…he…Eddie wouldn’t want you to be like this kid, he was a big believer in…in living, even if it pissed everyone else off.” The old man laughed at the memory of his rebel of a nephew, tears still running down her face as she nodded up at him.
Y/N had to lean against her door as she shut it, all the air in her leaving in a heavy sigh whilst she made a promise to herself to try and visit Wayne soon. The weight of the box felt like it were dragging her down, making her stumble up the stairs as she made her way back to the safety of her bedroom. Despite the bright sunshine outside, her room was shrouded in a low darkness. Up until now, Y/N couldn’t remember a sunny day never mind a whole summer without him by her side. Now she was faced with the prospect of living her whole life without him; and an ache had settled in her chest, in her heart, almost in her very bones as a result. Sometimes, if she focused on the feeling too much it forced her to the floor. During the very first few days she had spent hours in the shower, letting the icy water wash over her, praying to whatever god was listening that the feeling would let up. But as the days turned into weeks, she soon found that haunting ache didn’t go anywhere, and worst of all, she was getting used to it. Y/N shook her head, trying to shake the depressions hold slightly as she collapsed onto her bed. For a moment or two she simply stared at the box in front of her, part of her terrified of what was inside. It didn’t feel right to relive their lives back over without having him there, laughing, crying, holding her. Y/N felt incredibly selfish, breathing, living as he laid ten feet under. He…Eddie had always been the one that wanted to live. All she had ever wanted was to simply live by his side.
Gingerly Y/N opened up the box. Staring straight up at her were a couple battered VHS tapes, labeled in Eddie’s scrawling handwriting. She hiccuped, tears already welling in her eyes as she read each one. A gentle bittersweet smile on her face, surprised that Wayne had kept them and not taped them over with some baseball game like he had always threatened. Y/N didn’t have to watch the tapes to know what they contained, if she was honest she didn’t think she could handle them right now. Dim memories played in her mind, her and Eddie dressed as their very first DnD characters and running through the woods that surrounded the trailer park. He had the camera gripped in his hand, their well rehearsed script being shouted into the trees and serious looks on their faces. They had to be around ten when they started their little movie productions, forcing Wayne to play the troll or the evil wizard. Y/N almost always played the defiant princess, or a woodland mage with Eddie ready to save the day as her charming hero. The last tape contained Corroded Coffins first ever real gig at The Bronze. Wayne had entrusted Y/N to at least get the first song, but she had gotten carried away and filmed the entire thing and even included exclusive back stage footage of the soon to be famous rockstars. Somewhere on the tape, although at the time completely going over Y/Ns head, was a younger Eddie Munson singing every single song to her. His eyes practically love hearts as she sang along, wearing the band shirt he had made just for her. She had worn eyeliner, black lipstick and even ratted her hair. She had looked beautiful, and Eddie had trouble containing himself when she applied his eyeliner for him. Not that she ever noticed.
Amongst the tapes she knew, Y/N found one entitled ‘greatest hits.’ For the hundredth time that day her chest felt like it was going to cave in. With shaky hands she pushed the tape into her TV, the static soon faded to reveal Eddies trailer. She gasped, hands flying to her face as she heard Wayne’s old radio blasting AC/DC’s hit song ‘Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap.’ She watched, her face inches away from the screen as Wayne pushed open the door to reveal what all the racket was about. She couldn’t believe he had got it on film.
They must of been halfway through their freshman year. Eddie had finally regained his mane of rock and roll curls and Y/N was desperately trying to tame hers. Whilst her best friend was making a name for himself, Y/N wanted nothing more than to go unnoticed. She wouldn’t leave his side, that was a given; but she did wish he would make things a little easier for the both of them sometimes. The pair had been trying to finish their maths homework so they could get to work with the latest DnD campaign, when the unmistakeable opening chords of the song played out over Eddie’s uncles shitty radio. His eyes had instantly lit up, a magic sort of light glittering over them that couldn’t of been cast down from the yellowing artificial light of the Munson trailer. Y/N could remember the heat that grew on her face, his own expression adding fuel to a fire that had been simmering between the two for a while now. Eddie was lost in his own world, an air guitar in hand and being played as if he were Angus Young himself. The newly required head of curls thrashing along to the guitar, his face melding into various expressions as he sang along to the radio, unfazed by the occasional break in his voice, totally uncaring as always. He had somehow managed to dance his way onto the kitchen table, the combat boots Y/N had found at the local thrift now staining their homework with muddy footprints (something they would both have to explain to their teacher the next morning.) By the time the song reached the first chorus, Eddie was holding his hand down towards her, eyebrows raised as he looked down expectantly whilst Y/N stared right back up at him. A feeling of deja vu had spiralled around the pair, Y/N could imagine the moment being mirrored years into the future, when Eddie was finally a rockstar and she was just another girl in the crowd. Anxiety, especially embarrassment was something that plagued her, and it was something Eddie was constantly trying to rid her of. He kneeled down, releasing the air guitar momentarily as he softened his gaze (that was reserved just for Y/N.) “You aren’t gonna deny AC/DC like this, are you princess?” He had leaned even closer, still sensing some hesitation. She remembered the smell of his breath, minty fresh in a failed attempt to hide the cigarettes he had started smoking. Y/N recalled the restraint she had to use to stop herself from leaning into his touch as he brushed her curtain bangs behind her ears, preventing her from hiding behind it like she so often did when she was embarrassed at school. “Come on, it’s just you and me, Y/N baby.” It felt like something changed in that moment, like she was suddenly presented with two ways of living, and Y/N knew all too well how miserable she would be if she went the wrong way. Without thinking she trusted Eddie, gripping his clammy hand in her own and allowed him to pull her up onto the table.
Wayne had walked in on the pair, the trailer practically shaking with the sound of the radio, the two kids dancing viciously on top of his shitty old kitchen table. His nephew playing the air guitar (those lessons he had scraped together to get him were really paying off) and his ‘best friend’ playing invisible drums. Both their heads banging along with AC/DC’s ‘Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap’ if he hadn’t been so pissed he would of been proud. “What are you kids doing on my damn kitchen table!”
to be continued…. ;)
