🍓 Sugar High. It took me 12 years and a #pandemic to go #strawberry picking in Canada and I loved it. I traveled to different #permaculture communities, visited many local #gardens around the world to eat fresh and #organic, when I had so much in my own #backyard that I have never explored. #Traveling was an excuse to allow myself to explore, when, in fact, so much is in the “here and now” and I took it for granted. While I am not traveling this Summer, the silver lining is that grass is GREEN on our side. “#cavabienaller” owned by me This #painting has been in my mind for a long time, I knew what I wanted to #create but didn’t have the “time” or made it a #priority, until quarantine hit me. Easter used to be a trip adventure for me, this year it became a trip inwards. Here’s part of the outcome of this process. For sure, #isolation required a massive #adaptation for an extrovert on the go like me, but I keep hoping that everything will be ok! As we hit Election Day, I’ve been reflecting on my last 4 years in the public service. I worked on 3 completely different priorities in one mandate (from #youth, then #veterans, to #opengovernment global summit). They were incredible and very tough 4 years. I was hitting the ground flying. Some big highs, some massive lows and late nights. While thinking about what I could have done better, this text kept coming to my mind. As a #minority in many aspects, having the chance to work on these files was a gift and empowering people was my biggest reward. So I’m sharing this in the hopes we empower more people. #MOM. I traveled with my mom for almost a month. She finally got her #visa and came to #Canada for the first time after 12 years. I left #Brazil when I was 21, so virtually, mom heard about my life and #friends, but didn’t really know them. I wanted to show her it all, #Ottawa, #Toronto, and #Montreal, watch the #sunset in my favorite spot, to live 12 years in a few weeks. At the #airport, as soon as I left her at the gate, like she did many times, I sobbed uncontrollably. I got home with red eyes and found #post-its in every corner of the house written by mom to remind me of our #love. #Family #Dreams. My #brother and his #husband decided to bring my #mom to their #honeymoon in #Paris. That’s their first international trip! Coming from a simple family in #Brazil, going to Paris was like going to the moon for a Canadian family. Possible but unlikely. My brother made it happen. He teaches me with his grit and #freedom.
