General Grievous Mask

Hey all, here is a General Grievous mask I put together for Halloween with my son being Darth Vader. This isn't something I modeled but did purchase off Etsy to put together and paint. Fairly good model, but could use a lot of work to make it fit together better.

To get the mask to look like this I had to do a lot of PLA welding. If you don't know what that is it's the process of taking 2 parts and using a soldering iron to fuse into one. This mask needed a lot of that due to things just being a small surface area and butt to butt mounting. This isn't ideal.

I had to do some more chopping of the mask ion Meshmixer to get to fit my Ender 3 plate. I also added epoxy to the inside of the mask to give it more support and also smooth out the interior of the mask. PLA welding left a lot of jagged edges and sanding inside a small area is rough. Don't fit the process, adapt.

Other things I needed to do was add padding. You can find bike helmet replacement pads on Amazon or other stores. These are great for helmets. The other thing was I used some black 1/4 craft foam to add support between the facemask and the helmet. You can see it in the one image pointing into the front of the mask. There was a lever created there and I am worried about picking up the helmet and it cracking the face off the helmet. I do not think the modeler printed this helmet out before. If you model something to sell make sure to print your model out to see how it works. My models I print at least 2 whole times before releasing to find problem areas.

Overall, mask turned out killer. I downloaded a helmet wall mount from Thingiverse to mount after I wore on Halloween.

Campaign Tagging Tool

We all make mistakes. The important part is we learn from them. I had an event where I needed to campaign tag a ton of sites that would be promoted at a virtual event. Yes, this was back in the time of Covid which it seems everyone has forgotten about. Just like everyone has forgotten about Covid, I forgot to post this project!

During this event I messed up on one of the tags using a website to campaign tag these sites. Since I like to make stuff it seemed like the opportunity to do so. I created this small tool specifically so this wouldn't happen again. It took in my specific needs to adding the language parameter on some or just tag the others. Small tool, but I love to build :)

Chrome Plugin

Currently, I work in events as a Creative Technology Director and love to create small apps. This app is a Chrome Plugin made to add a hidden reset button to the page and a timeout function after inactivity.

Here is the popup. This allows you to save a root URL for when you click the reset button or it timeout it goes to the root or wherever you'd like.

Borderlands 2 Krieg Belt Attachment

Still working on my Krieg cosplay and just finished the light up belt attachment.

It's created from a 3d print that I modeled and an analog circuit of some random green LEDs I had laying around.

The diffuser is made of 4 pieces of plexiglass I frosted with some spray frost. I was hoping to use less, but with the lack of distance and not wrapping the LEDs around all the edges I just had to make it work.

Added some foil to help bounce the light around and added a switch and a tiny JST connector in case I ever need to open the box to replace the coin cell battery. The back of the case has 2 holes for a M4 x 20mm bolt.

Borderlands 3 Wagon Wheel

This was a commission from Etsy. I wasn't a fan of the Wagon Wheel before I got to make this. It was a gun in the game I passed over time after time. When I was asked to model and paint the gun like most of my props I fell in love. This prop turned out truly awesome!

Borderlands 3 Faisor

Here is a gun I was commissioned for on Etsy. I was going to offer this in my Etsy store, but it is so complex and needs to be painted and assembled in a certain way I have not offered it.

I truly fell in love with this weapon upon creating it and it turned out better than expected. It was hard to ship out, but it is where it needs to be :)

Borderlands 3 Amara Class Mod

I just love Borderlands I guess :) This is a model I started when the game came out. It has taken me a while with all the other models I have done, but I wanted to make sure I finished this and did it right. 

This is very complex with the chains and I have printed it over 20 times to get it done with the least amount of supports. I also have been experimenting with my resin printer and added some parts to this model. Here is how it turned out and the listing.

Who doesn’t love Jakobs? I wanted to take on the challenge of modeling the Maggie from Borderlands 3. At first, I thought it would be an easy model, but as I got into it I realized it has much more detail than expected.

I was it up by someone through my Etsy on a gun they wanted me to create for them. It was the Breath of the Dying. This was my first assault rifle. Arduino RF Remote

So, we are all familiar with RF Smart Switches. I ran into an issue where I needed 2 remotes for my switches, but it didn’t come with two remotes and I couldn’t find one to buy. Since I have the original remote it made my life much easier to be able to create one with an Arduino.

First, you need to use the Arduino to decode the current remote. I used the Arduino Library ReceiveDemo_Advanced to decode. Once you have the remote codes you can make an Arduino sketch that can then send those codes turning off or on the switch.

Since I didn’t want to waste an Arduino on this project I made once. I always have a ton of the Atmega 328s laying around so I created the Arduino, loaded up the sketch and printed a box to contain the Arduino. The sketch is here on my Github with the ReceiveDemo_Advanced and the final sketch. This sketch contains a sleep timer so it won’t burn the batteries in a day. So far, 3 AAAs have lasted for over 3 months

Anyone who loves Zane loves the Digiclone, especially after his buff. This is a 3d printed Digiclone Device with a spring loaded button. I use it as a fidget toy all the time!

Borderlands 3 Infinity Pistol

The first Borderlands pistol I ever modeled was the Infinity from Borderlands 2. This is my take on the Infinity Pistol from Borderlands 3! I modeled it and this is the first one I have printed. I will be modeling another one to add electronics for movement. I offer the 3d printed version on Etsy.

Borderlands 3 Zane Class Mod

My fascination with Borderlands has grown since the third installment. I love all the characters, but I started with Zane. Here is Zane’s Class Mod I created for cosplay or collectors. It’s a 3d model that I printed on my Ender-3 and sell on Etsy.

Transparent LCD Hack

LCD work in mysterious ways. They have 2 polarizing screens sandwiching a series of liquid crystals. You can do lots of interesting things to hack these screens and taking the backlight away you get a transparent screen.

Well, not fully transparent. The polarizing screens still make the unit quite dark, but that is why OLEDs are so good. They get rid of this downside, but cost a lot more.

Work Bench

Built my outdoor workbench. 6 feet x 2 feet x 4 1/2 feet high. Great hight for doing work! Simpson ties to hold together. Make it more expensive, but easier to build and rebuild. 

Has ample room for wood storage, power, and a vise.
