“You have to make a mess before you make a masterpiece”
This I have learned from my hubby, who has said this to me while doing projects and making a big mess in the process. While this is his way of calming down his neat-freak wife, he’s got a good point!
I keep thinking of this as we go through this very messy transition. Yes, I believe this is a transition, not a destination. We are in the thick of a mess, one that we all have been a part of creating. Now I’m not saying it’s our fault that corona is here, but it is society’s doing that we have so many facets of life that do not work and are out of sync with our soul truths. Corona is the flashlight if you will, shinning the light on the dark parts of us and the problems in society that had been hidden in plain sight. Most of us have been barley hanging on, but because it’s what we knew, we just kept on. This is what crisis does, or has the ability to do if we can just take a step back and look at life from that wide view.
As crazy as this may sound to all who are new to this kind of internal and external crisis, I see this time as our gift, our opportunity to make not only our lives better but better the world for all living beings. We are being brought to our knees, literally stopped in our tracks, giving us the opportunity to have a “Come to Jesus moment”. What is it that we want and need from life? What is it that would truly make our hearts sing? What do we want our world to look like? How can ALL benefit from the gift of life? How can we help, not hurt our fellow citizens and the earth we inhabit? So much, so very, very much that could be better and benefit all beautiful souls of the world. It is up to each of us to heal ourselves and heal our world. Let us all use this flashlight of crisis and get real. This is our gift, our opportunity to make life what we have always dreamed it should be. This is our mess, now let’s make it our masterpiece!

I don’t think I can take another minute of corona talk! I’m at my fill of the negativity and fear it has created in my being and the being of the world. This is not a refusal to acknowledge it, rather a choice to focus on what I can control and also focus on the beauty that can come. I always look at the bright side of life, and while I continue to do so, the media is trying to convince me otherwise.
The corona virus is giving us this amazing opportunity to stop all the nonsense, take a deep breath, connect back to our spirit, and recreate not only ourselves but the world in which we live. I know, you are all saying “but it is making us sick and wrecking up our inner and outer world”. Yes, it is. This is absolutely a shit show right now; but I believe we have not been listening to the quiet whispers our out higher selves telling us that our “normal” isn’t and wasn’t working. I can speak for myself in saying that I’m not a good listener until life beats me over the head! Well, I’m hearing it loud and clear!
I see a better world on the horizon, one that will be built on a foundation of love, empathy, kindness, understanding, and humanity. How about that? Humanity as the focus; not money, greed, or selfishness. How about a world of oneness and care for the environment that supports our future living? All good thoughts! It will take all of us to get to a life and world that we long for. While we acknowledge the danger of the virus, let’s also acknowledge the danger of going back to “normal”. Today I choose trust and faith that this is the beginnings of a beautiful new world.

As I look in the mirror at my overgrown hair that is more and more grey by the day, I ask myself “who are you?”. Are you a good haircut? Are you the hair dye that helps you to look younger? Are you the increasing wrinkles on your face? Are you your age or the clothes you wear? Are you your thoughts that role constantly through your mind, generally negative judgemental ones? Who is the you that you came to this life to be? Well my answer is no, none of that is the “me” I am in this life to be. It is not easy to get out of the “role” that society has taught me to play, in fact it’s a daily struggle.
But today, I am going to focus on the stuff that really matters. I will be kind not only to me, but to others as well. I will love myself and love others just as they are in this moment. I will spend my moments on gratitude for all that I have been gifted in this life, that includes my struggles that made me who I came to be. I will focus on the truth of who I am, not the lies I have convinced myself I am.

Remember when.....
We used to wake up, go about our daily grind, come home exhausted, get up the next day and do it all over again, never once realizing that this may not be the healthiest way to live, or better yet not knowing another way to live?
Remember when......
We used to think of our individual needs and the needs of our immediate families, not thinking about others out there struggling or in need of help, due to having nothing left to give?
Remember when.......
We were so busy, living in our own stressed out vortex, that we didn’t realize that we are truly all connected and what happens to one effects us all?
Remember when.........
We were so engaged in our consumer society that we were not focusing on the effects it was having on our beautiful Mother Earth?
Remember when.........
We were so busy, stressed, exhausted from the lives that society set up for us to live that we were not able to place focus on the most amazing gifts to us and the world; our children?
Our world has recently changed; it is scary, unreliable, and uncertain. This crisis has brought much tragedy into our lives, not to mention the long-term effects of isolation and mental health. We do not know where this is leading us or how the world will look once it’s done. We are unsure when it will end and afraid of the lasting effects of our economy. We are sad by what this has done to our fellow citizens and worried it will hit our homes and effect our loved ones. But......if we are to focus on all the unknowns and fear, it will only make us feel worse (speaking for me!). I choose to focus on how this is will be changing us and our world in positive ways while I continue to stay aware, take caution, and place my own fears and uncertainty in the hands of God.
