Two things I forgot to include in the first go-around:
Under "general unofficial-but-also-official anthologies": Tiger & Bunny Official Anthology We Love Sky High published by Libre (1 volume)
Sakakibara's manga for the first season was recently re-released with new cover art (you'll see the volumes designated as "Animate limited edition). Aside from the covers, though, I'm not sure if anything else is different.
I also want to shout out the sacred work of @tnbdirectory which has their own post summarizing the available canon (or at least canon-adjacent) manga and providing links where possible! Go check it out. 💛🖤💛
(To add onto their post: Sakakibara's adaptation of s2 also features a Chapter 00 which summarizes the entirety of s1's second cour + the events of The Rising. RIP to Sakakibara for having to blow through all of that in a single shot.)
Trying to catch up on things and I'm a little confused - how many manga series does Tiger & Bunny have?
I have 7/8 volumes of Tiger & Bunny in English, but your recent ask mentions you're working on volume 7 of what you're translating as well, which from what I gather *has* no english release(?) so I assume it's a different series??
Plus the Anthologies exist, and the The Beginning sides A and B... are there more? What is happening I'm so lost, why is this so underappreciated in the US and hard to learn about lol
YEAH SO. Here's what's officially available in English, to the best of my knowledge:
Tiger & Bunny by Mizuki Sakakibara (9 volumes)
Tiger & Bunny: The Beginning by Tsutomu Oono (2 volumes)
Tiger & Bunny Comic Anthology 2-in-1 (2 volumes) — These are compilations of unofficial 4-komas and short stories that were originally published in Japan by Asuka Comics DX as 4 individual volumes; to this day I'm baffled (although pleased) that this got brought over while Ueda's series was apparently passed over
Aaaaaand...yeah. That's it.
The manga series we're currently failing at translating is by Hiroshi Ueda. Officially it's called Tiger & Bunny: The Comic, but since it once ran in the Miracle Jump magazine you'll often see me refer to it as just "MJ" series" or some variation thereof. (This has fucked me over now that Tiger & Bunny: The Comic 2 runs online for a different publication.**) Whereas Sakakibara's series retells the story of season 1's first cour (albeit with some changes/additions that were apparently discarded ideas from the anime), Ueda's has completely original stories written by Erika Yoshida (one of the anime's screenwriters) that jump around in the series chronology. Frex, one of the earliest stories (both in terms of this comic series and the anime's storyline) explains why Ivan and Pao-Lin aren't around in episode 5 for Barnaby's birthday surprise (with the rest of the chapter showing them trying to make up for it), and then there's also one that's set a month or so before The Rising. Stuff like that.
**Or maybe it's still kinda the same but under a different name? Miracle Jump was previously known as Monthly Young Jump before its rebrand in 2011, and then the website that The Comic 2 runs on is Tonari no Young Jump, soooo.
Regarding Sakakibara's series, there are 4 supplementary volumes that were released collecting the bonus content that ran alongside that series when it was initially running in Newtype Ace, both published by Kadokawa Comics A:
Tiger & Bunny-Chan by Kotoni Shiroishi (2 volumes) — Features primarily 4-komas with a few short stories. And the birth of the entity known as Kittyface Pao-Lin.
Tiger & Bunny Sky High by Virginia Nitouhei (1 volume) — Four short stories featuring Sky High.
Tiger & Bunny Origami by Yanagi Yukisuke (1 volume) — Six short stories featuring Origami Cyclone.
No clue what's been going on with Sakakibara's serialization of the second season, though — haven't been following it.
For the more general unofficial-but-also-official anthologies, BOY HOWDY THERE SURE ARE A LOT... Aside from the 4 that got localized, I currently have 9 in my collection:
Tiger & Bunny: The Beginning Comic Anthology published by DNA Media Comics (1 volume)
Tiger & Bunny Comic Anthology published by DNA Media Comics (3 volumes; missing volume 1)
Tiger & Bunny 4-Koma Kings published by DNA Media Comics (3 volumes)
Tiger & Bunny Official Comic Anthology published by Frontier Works (1 volume; "official" here is written as 公式)
Tiger & Bunny Anthology Comic Go! Go!! Tiger & Bunny published by Movic (3 volumes; missing volumes 1 & 2)
Tiger & Bunny Official Anthology Extra published by Asuka Comics DX (1 volume)
I do have some scattered scanslations on hand from one or two of these volumes (from back in the T&B LiveJournal community days, ha), but before I potentially share them I need to sort out which volumes they actually belong to and make sure that any appropriate credit is retained.
Hope this is helpful!

Hi! Wanted to thank you for all your work! And thanks for sharing the RAWs but I hope the translations will be done! I will always support your work and will be waiting patiently ^^
Thanks and thanks again! 💛🖤💛 I'm happy to report some positive news on the translation front:
Thanks to a supporter who wishes to remain anonymous, the Third League Heroes now have the help of @lalunameli in finishing the remaining chapters of this first MJ series! They've sent me the script for MJ 41.5 (because it has Yuri in it and Yuri is their fave) and will be circling back around to MJ 36.
MJ 35 has a full scanslation draft that needs review with translator minion; MJ 35.5 has its pages cleaned and set up in Photoshop but still needs the script. Unfortunately for both of these things, said translator minion is currently traipsing about in Japan and won't be back until like mid-May. (Also I've been busy with other things.)
I'm hoping I can remember to work on preemptively setting up the cleaned pages for the other chapters while the scripts are being worked on...

Hi! I hope you are doing fine :) and merry Christmas! 🎄
I wanted to ask if by any chance you have Sakakibara Mizuki's manga translated🙏 I started reading the first chapters in an application, but not all the chapters are there and I was left in suspense 😭
Yeah, I think probably whatever scanslation there was of the first Sakakibara series (which we weren't responsible for!) stopped once it got officially localized. Relatedly, I'm not sure if anyone began scanslating the second series, and I haven't heard tell of any plans for that series to get an official translation. (I feel like I would've seen info regarding either case on @tigerandbunnyftw at some point if such things were out there, but would love to be wrong!)

Hi! First of all, thank you so much for your work until now! I really hope this hasn't been abandoned yet and you're going to complete the rest of the scanlation some day. I really wanted to wait for your translations before reading the last few chapters, buuuut is it possible to share the rest of the RAWs after all? I can't seem to find any online. Again, thank you so much for your translations up til now, I will not abandon hope and pray for your revival 🙏
This has definitely not been abandoned, just backburnered! The latter half of 2023 was busy for my translator minion, and his schedule in general is not as free as it was when we started this project. At the very least, we have vague plans to finish off volume 6 with chapter 35 and the included omake within Q1 of 2024 (maybe sliding into Q2). We do want to get volume 7 done as well, but the how of it is still up in the air (thank you to the kind Hero who reached out to us and offered assistance in this regard!).
As always and always, we are immensely thankful for the consistent support this project has received throughout the years (holy shit I think it's been almost a whole-ass decade??? wtf @ us, good goddamn). Although me and my translator minion do want to finish this scanslation out of a sense of pride at a bare minimum, the enthusiasm from readers also makes us really not want to let anyone down by leaving this in limbo. So never fear: like season 2 of the anime, the end of Tiger & Bunny: The Comic in fan-translated English will eventually come!
(but seriously will someone localize St. Ueda's series already like pleeeeeaaaaaase)
In the meantime, to celebrate Childhood Trauma For Barnaby Day (and since the timing works out with the request), we are dropping download links to the raws of the remaining chapters! See below for the Mediafire links.

If you only download one chapter from this collection, I highly suggest ch. 37. The in-verse HeroTV fandom has some, uh, Theories™ about the Heroes that y'all may find entertaining. (I was hoping to just drop that bomb cold on everyone with the scanslation, but alas.)
As a reminder, you can read scanslations of the ongoing Tiger & Bunny 2: The Comic here on MangaDex! (Note that we're not involved with this in any way except for offering immense gratitude and gratitude again to those who are.)
Also, if you want to see what my translator minion has been up to besides being unavailable for translating our projects (how rude of him), check out his blatherings about stuff relating to Weekly Shonen Sunday (the 4th best-selling manga magazine in Japan, and home of series like Urusei Yatsura, Inuyasha, Detective Conan/Case Closed, Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, and others):

Hello and thanx for translating this series. When will the next chapter be ready? Also how many chapter does this series have before the sequel?
So the really frustrating thing (on both the readers' side and ours as the scanslators) is that we're actually decently close to finishing off this first comic series in terms of the numbers! Here's what the rundown looks like:
Volume 6 Chapter 35 Chapter 35.5
Volume 7 Chapter 36 Chapter 37 Chapter 38 Chapter 39 Chapter 40 Chapter 41 Chapter 41.5
THAT'S IT, THAT'S ALL SHE WROTE, WE'RE SO CLOSE, FAM
(and I so very badly want to get to the chapter featuring the in-verse HeroTV fandom and the wacky ideas they have about our Heroes)
Unfortunately, I currently have no other translation scripts on hand and my translator minion has been bogged down with a lot of things and hasn't felt up to this project (and our other scanslation projects) lately. I've been debating if I can manage to at least do the image cleaning in the meantime, but I've got my own things going on too.
We do absolutely want to see this through, especially because — as just demonstrated — we're so close! Just, y'know, the stars aren't aligning quite right at the moment.

Reblogging this for anyone who doesn’t happen to be following either @tnbdirectory or @tigerandbunnyftw! (And then you should go follow both of them, obviously.)
(Pao-Lin’s reasoning for deciding to wear a dress to this party is one-hundo-percento valid, but I still demand more Suit-Lin from Sunrise. GIVE IT, YOU COWARDS)
Tiger & Bunny ~Fortune Favors the Bold~ Sternbild Appreciation Audio Drama Translation
In June 2017 Tiger & Bunny's ~Fortune Favors the Bold~ Ichiban Kuji campaign included limited prizes of two audio drama CD's, Sternbild Appreciation and The Party Never Ends, as well as several prizes, all of which seem to have a connecting storyline.
ThirdLeagueHeroes has already translated the story of the prologue and several prizes here on their index page under "Ichiban Kuji Event: Fortune Favors the Bold."
The audio for Sternbild Appreciation and the CD booklet can be downloaded here, and the translation can be read on the wiki or below the cut:
Ryan: Hey, eyes over here! This is the great Golden Ryan, the one who got Tiger & Barnaby back together! The heroes were put through a great ruckus after I returned to my good ol’ town Sternbild, even going as far as buying me a present~ Those guys really missed me, huh? More than that, let’s return to the main topic! The main topic is… What was it? Eh, oh well. Tiger & Bunny, Sternbild appreciation. Ciao~
-
Ryan: Shh! Be quiet! In three… Two… One…
Ryan Alarm Clock: It’s seven. Kiss my boots. It’s seven. Kiss my boots. It’s seven. Kiss my-
Ryan: What do you think of my little gift? A Golden Ryan special alarm clock.
Keith: It’s great! And once again, it’s great!
Antonio: I like how it has the same silhouette as Ryan!
Ryan: Right~ I brought enough for everyone so don’t forget to take one home.
Keith: Thank you! And thank you!
Antonio: Can’t believe you get merch like this if you’re popular over there! The button is Ryan’s head right? (presses down Ryan’s head on the alarm)
Ryan Alarm Clock: It’s seven. Kiss my boots.
Antonio and Keith: Uwoooow this is so cool!
Keith: It’s incredible!
Antonio: The way he says, “dodoon!”
Ryan: “Dodoon!” right?
Antonio: Yeah! “Dodoon!!”
Ryan: “Dodoon!!!”
-
Kotetsu: Hey Bunny. Does that alarm clock bug you at all?
Barnaby: Yes. I feel like my mental health is getting chipped away every morning…
Ivan: Me too.
Barnaby: You as well Origami-senpai?
Kotetsu: It’s tough being told to kiss someone’s boots at seven in the morning.
Ivan: Ah, actually, what bugs me is that his head is the button…
Kotetsu: Huh?
Ivan: I can’t hit Ryan-san’s head like that! For me to hit our colleagues' heads… Tiger-san, what should I do?
Kotetsu: (awkward) Eh, um, who knows? Haha.
Nathan: Boys! What are you getting heated up about!? We can hear everything from the girl’s room. The party is about to start so hurry up and change into your tuxedos!
Ryan: Ou. I have enough for the girl’s team too so don’t forget to bring some over to them.
Nathan: Oh thank you for that~ I also need to hurry up and change but—haunnng!! Is this heaven? So many men who are shirtless… I don’t want to go!!
Kotetsu: Hurry up and go change!!
Nathan: (getting pushed out) Aww.
(door closes)
Antonio: Hey Kotetsu. Can you take a picture of Ryan and I before we change?
Kotetsu: Can’t you take pictures after?
Antonio: Ah, well I want a picture that feels special. It’ll be the grand reveal of the private side of the Gravity Prince who traveled across the ocean for work and I’ll title it, “Welcome back Ryan!” Traffic is going to go up by ten folds!
Kotetsu: Traffic?
Antonio: On my blog.
Kotetsu: You started a blog!?
Antonio: Yeah, cause Origami’s is quite popular. Thought I’d give it a shot and see if I’ll be just as lucky in gaining new fans.
Ryan: What a touching effort. Well then, guess I’ll offer a hand.
Antonio: Ushiya! Alright, let me get my helmet on and- (clacking and something opening up) Oi Kotetsu! I’ll figure out the angle so just stand there.
Kotetsu: Why do I gotta—-tch—fine… (walks over)
Barnaby: Ryan. Please come over here.
Ryan: Huh? What’s up Junior?
Barnaby: (whispers) I advise you to rethink taking a picture with Rock Bison.
Ryan: Huh? Why?
Keith: Even I don’t recommend it…
Ryan: Sky High too?
Ivan: Me as well…
Ryan: And Origami?
Ivan: The thing is, there’s a problem with Bison’s blog…
-
Karina: A blog that’s cursed?
Nathan: That’s right! Misfortunes take place as soon as a duo photo is uploaded.
Pao Lin: Sky High and Origami and even me! As soon as our photos went up on that blog-
Nathan: They all got injured.
Pao Lin: Yeah.
Karina: Eh!? Does that mean Rock Bison has a new NEXT power?
Nathan: No no~ It’s just bad luck. It’s all over the internet. Hey, can you help me with the zipper on my back?
Karina: Oh yeah, sure. A blog that is cursed…
Pao Lin: Has Bison-san not asked to take a picture with you yet?
Karina: Now that you mention it… He did ask me in the past but my manager rejected him.
Nathan: Aren’t you lucky that you’re an idol~
(sound of the zipper going up)
Nathan: Thank you. Hey, aren’t you showing a bit too much chest?
Karina: Why are you looking there!?
(in the background:
Antonio: Why are you suddenly saying no to a picture!?
Ryan: Ehehe well um, next time alright?)
Nathan: Ugh they’re going at it again!
(Antonio: Come on!!)
Nathan: Even though I told them to hurry up and change!
Pao Lin: But it seems like Ryan-san rejected him.
Nathan: I’m sure Handsome filled him in with the details.
(Ryan: Aaaaah I’m busy, I’m so busy!)
Karina: I’m sure Tiger will calm down the situation just fine!
(Ryan: I’m still so busy!)
Nathan: Seems like you have a lot of trust towards a certain someone~
(Ivan join in to calm down Ryan and Antonio)
Karina: That’s-!! Uh!! Oh Dragon Kid! You’re planning on attending the party in a pants suit?
Pao Lin: Yeah. Is that not allowed?
Karina: No, it’s allowed but wouldn’t a dress be cuter?
Pao Lin: But these are easier to move around in so-
Karina: But this is a party! Do you need to be able to move that much?
Nathan: I’ll end up attracting the attention of every attendee at this party if that’s the case~ Ufu, are you fine with that?
Pao Lin: Yeah I don’t mind.
Nathan: (snorts)
Karina: But if you wear such a form fitting suit, it might be a bit tight after you eat.
Pao Lin: Oh… I guess that’s true! Let me go change then!
(noise of a power being activated.
Kotetsu: Dah! I told you to calm down Bison!! Why are you using your powers!?)
Nathan: Just how long are they going to continue on with this! The party is going to start.
(Ivan: Why don’t I transform into Ryan-san so we can take a picture together?
Antonio: Then that’ll be a scam! You’re not getting away, Ryan!!
Keith: I guess there’s no other choice… Skkkyyy hi hi hiiiigh! (wind whirling)
Ryan: Dodoon!!)
(Silence)
Karina: Ah. They went quiet.
Nathan: Let’s go to the party then!
-
SH: Hello attendees who participate in the day to day activities involving hero work! I, Sky High, would like to make a toast for us all today. Let’s have a toast to partying!
Kotetsu: No matter where I look, this sure is one extravagant party.
Antonio: God dammit, where the hell is Ryan.
Kotetsu: You still haven’t given up on getting a picture with him?
Antonio: Of course! It’s my prime opportunity to get more traffic.
Kotetsu: Does it have to be only you two? Can’t you take one with all of us?
Antonio: Then that doesn’t feel personal! I need it to feel like it’s something special, something you can only find on my blog.
Kotetsu: Got it. Then take a picture with this special Ryan alarm clock.
(places alarm on the table)
Antonio: “Oh? That’s a good idea.” Do you really think I’d say that!! Think about this situation from my shoes and try to understand.
Kotetsu: I do understand how you feel, but for now, have a drink and call down… Though there isn’t alcohol here because it’s a party for the citizens but.
Antonio: You’re useless, you raccoon.
Kotetsu: Raccoon?
Antonio: If I can’t get Ryan, then I’ll get a photo with them!
(runs off)
Kotetsu: Raccoon… I feel like someone else called me a raccoon before… Hey wait, hold up Rock Bison!!
(runs off)
-
(footsteps approaching)
Antonio: Blue Rose… Why did she go? Oh? Excuse me. You’re Director Petrov, correct? Have you seen Blue Rose?
(silence)
Antonio: Uh, directo-
Yuri: I have not.
(silence)
Antonio: Ah, thanks… The hell was that? Anyway, next stop is Barnaby!
(runs off) (heeled shoe noises)
Karina: I was right to hide… I was inches away from getting dragged into a mess. Wow, wait! Dragon Kid! That’s a lot of food!!
Pao Lin: (mouth full of food) Mhhnnmmm! Mmmhmmmnmhmm!!
Karina: Aah talk after you finish what’s in your mouth first!
Pao Lin: (gulps) I love buffets!! I can have all the ramen and gyoza and dumplings without having to stop!!
Karina: Haha, good thing you changed into a dress, right?
Pao Lin: Yeah!
Ivan: Dragon Kid-san, Blue Rose-san.
Karina and Pao Lin: Huh?
Ivan: Come, come over here.
Pao Lin: Why is Origami-senpai hiding in the background?
Ivan: Oh, uh, it looks like I’ve grown a habit of hiding without realizing…
Karina: Seems like your work style is bleeding into your personal life.
Pao Lin: So.. What’s up?
Ivan: I want to recommend something special to you guys!
Pao Lin: A recommendation!? What is it!?
Ivan: It’s udooun-de gozaru.
Pao Lin: Uduon?
Karina: Your lips are bugging me.
Ivan: It’s like ramen but it’s not actually ramen. A totally different species of noodle. And that is… (inhales gently. Whispers) Udon.
Pao Lin: Where is this udon!?
Ivan: This way-de gozaru!!
(runs off)
Karina: You should get some after you finish your plate!
Kotetsu: They really dug their teeth into that conversation. Hehe, on a conversation about food.
Karina: That wasn’t funny at all.
Kotetsu: Ay, is that so.
Karina: Tiger, you look and act like an old man so if you make these types of old man gags, Kaede won’t want to be near you.
Kotetsu: Kaede!? Hrngh, guess I gotta be more careful.
Karina: You really don’t understand your daughter.
Kotetsu: (sincere) Thanks for always giving me advice, Blue Rose. I’m grateful for all of them.
Karina: I’m just- this is all for Kaede-chan’s sake! It’s not like I’m doing this for you! It’s not for you… Huh? Tiger? Why did you suddenly disappear! Why…did you disappear…
-
Kotetsu: Yo Fire Emblem. Have you seen Rock Bison?
Nathan: I just saw him get rejected by Handsome about getting a picture together.
Kotetsu: He’s bugging Bunny now?
Nathan: More than that, aren’t you worried about them?
Kotetsu: Heh?
Nathan: Ryan and Handsome have only been talking to each other this entire time. By chance—what if they are planning to reinstate their partnership?
Kotetsu: Why mention something so stupid.
Nathan: It’s not stupid. Even I was given an offer like that before. It was on a hot hot summer day~
Kotetsu: Um, do I have to listen to this story?
-
Barnaby: Things must be difficult over there if you’re working by yourself.
Ryan: I’ve always done this job by myself so it’s nothing. Barely even break a sweat.
Barnaby: You never change.
Ryan: Hehee.
Keith: Ryan-kun, Barnaby-kun!! Can you please do something about Bison-kun!?
Barnaby and Ryan: Huh?
(footsteps approaching)
Keith: It’s him!
Antonio: Sky High, please, I’m begging you. Please take a picture with me! I’ve already got a title in mind, all I need is a picture!
Keith: I’m sorry and I apologize.
Antonio: Why then. What’s wrong with taking a picture with me?
(high heel footsteps approaching)
Nathan: Get a hold of yourself Rock Bison!
Antonio: What do you want.
Kotetsu: Hey, did you forget who this party is for?
Antonio: Well that’s…
Kotetsu: I understand that you’re desperate, but isn’t today about being grateful to the citizens who cheer us on?
Antonio: Argh… That’s true but…
Ryan: Fine. You still want to take a picture?
Antonio: You sure, Ryan?
Ryan: The reason I refused to take a picture is cause I heard of a rumor that your blog is cursed, so.
Antonio: Hmm? My blog is cursed? What are you talking about?
Ryan: Wait, you’re not aware of this?
Barnaby: There’s a rumor that if you appear on Rock Bison’s blog, then you face misfortune and…
Antonio: What the hell is that!? Is that why you all-
Keith: I’m sorry. I’m so so sorry.
Antonio: Are you serious?
(footsteps approaching)
Pao Lin: Guys guys guys guys guys!! I brought some for everyone to try! Of udon!!
Ivan: It’s hiiiiiighly recommended-de gozaruyo-
Barnaby: Let’s save that for later, Origami-senpai.
Ivan: Eh?
Karina: Tiger! Udon’s actually pretty good!
Kotetsu: Dah! Stop talking about udon!
Karina: Huh?
(camera goes off)
Everyone: Huh??
Antonio: Nobody will be harmed if it’s a selfie right? I’ll just stick with uploading this.
Kotetsu: Wait up. Why not take a picture with all of us?
Barnaby: He’s right. It may be that some misfortunes overlapped with the upload date of certain pictures, causing the cursed blog rumors to spread. If it’s a photo with everyone then-
Antonio: It’s fine. I already uploaded it. Plus, Kotetsu’s right. Today’s party is to show gratitude to the citizens, so I need to enjoy today!
Pao Lin: Then do you want to try some udon?
Antonio: Sounds good! Let’s have a toast to partying!!
Keith: That’s my line!
(Everyone laughs)
Barnaby: It’s a shame that you’ve been dragged around restlessly despite just returning.
Ryan: Nah it’s all good. Isn’t this what’s special about Sternbild?
Kotetsu: Hmm, is it now… Well, this means that one problem is solved, right?
Karina: That may not be true.
Kotetsu: Eh?
Karina: Look! Someone else is in the picture that Rock Bison uploaded on his blog!
Nathan: Oh my. There is. Isn’t that…
Barnaby: It’s Director Petrov.
Kotetsu: The Director?
(Ryan’s alarm goes off. “It’s seven. Kiss my boots.” goes off continuously as glass shatters.)
Karina: Oh, he’s covered in wine now.
Barnaby: It seems like he was startled by the alarm.
Nathan: Isn’t that the Director?
Kotetsu: Wait wait, that’s my Ryan alarm clock that I left on the…
-
(presses the button. Yuri sighs)
Kotetsu: I’m so sorry, Director. I didn’t know the alarm was on so I- dah! The wine stain is! Uh, does this mean…
Yuri: I will request you to pay for the dry cleaning bill.
Kotetsu: (dejected) Yes…
-
(sound of running footsteps continue in the background)
Nathan: Since we’ve changed into our hero suits, now is the time for the real party with the citizens to begin. Let’s get to the stage!
Pao Lin: I wonder if they’ll like the new charm I made?*
Ivan: Of course! Even I want one.
Karina: If you’re worried about that, just remember that we all wanted to have a sitting cushion.*
Antonio: I'm pretty curious about the foldable umbrella.*
Keith: I can’t help but recommend the karuta that has my motto in it!!*
Ryan: No matter how much time passes, Sternbild heroes sure are close.
Barnaby: What are you mumbling about? You too are one of us heroes.
Kotetsu: That’s right! Now then, it’s time for us all to let out a wild roar!
Everyone: Alright!

HURRIEDLY THROWING THIS UP BEFORE COUR 2 DROPS, EYYYY —
Hi, it’s Sora, the member of Third League Heroes who was procrastinating on her day job work at the time of drafting this post! Would anyone mind doing this bitch a favor and either create or point me to anywhere that’s got gifs of Pao-Lin from s2c1? Just message this blog if you’ve got the goods, thanks and thanks again!

Note
what are you guys favorite's tnb characters?
Sakaki (TLH’s translator minion) isn't the type of guy to latch onto any one particular character in whatever he watches/reads/etc., so he likes all the Heroes about the same! Though he says that he has a lot of fun translating Kotetsu's lines.
As for me (Sora, the member of TLH who drinks way too much Mountain Dew), well...there's a reason that TLH's profile pic and banner is this:
Tumblr media
(a bit of context: Because I RP Pao-Lin on DW, I always comb through official art & images with an eye towards potentially making icons out of them. As I was going through the 4-komas and supplementary one-shots accompanying the initial serialization of Mizuki Sakakibara’s adaptation of s1c1, I began to notice A Certain Magical Pattern with how this other artist — Kotoni Shiroishi — drew Pao-Lin...
Turns out that the only time Shiroishi actually drew Pao-Lin properly was in the one-shot story where she was sitting with Yuri and complaining about useless drunk Hero adults. Even in other one-shots where the other Heroes are drawn normally, Pao-Lin is always just this kittyfaced fae creature.
I can’t speculate on Shiroishi’s reasons behind this decision...but it is an oddly appropriate one regardless.

So seven years or so after the fact I finally figured out something that’s painfully obvious in hindsight — Lady Henkaer’s name is probably supposed to be henker, which is German for “executioner.” SHE DEAD-ASS NAMED HERSELF LADY EXECUTIONER and this also explains why she briefly lapses into German at one point
(And if you read the Wiktionary link after reading chapters 14 and 15, it makes even more sense.)
Anyway, the result of this is that chapter 14 on MangaDex and Mediafire have both been updated with page 8 including a footnote on this little detail.
(seriously how the hell did I miss this)

Some clarification because I can’t remember if I ever saw it mentioned anywhere — this one-shot was included as the “chapter 0″ for the new Tiger & Bunny 2 series for Miracle Jump! It’s been scanslated (though not by us) and can be found here along with other chapters from the new series.
Original Japanese chapters can be read here.
Tumblr media
The Tiger & Bunny and Young Jump twitter accounts made an announcement that Ueda Hiroshi and Yoshida Erika (creators of Miracle Jump’s Tiger & Bunny The Comic which ran from October 11th 2011 to September 23rd 2016) are teaming up again to produce a one off oneshot manga for the magazine.
The one shot will be included in the next issue of Young Jump, which will be released on the 15th October 2019 and comes also with a new pinup.

Regarding Netflix subs for s2 of Tiger & Bunny, I was wondering if there was any significant discrepancy worth pointing out that you noticed between what was being said and what the localizers chose to adapt? Thanks for all the work you do!
So I just finished streaming all 13 episodes for Sakaki recently, and he only made one suuuuuper minor comment in that regard while we were watching. Further discussion is below the cut for anyone who still needs to avoid spoilers.
SPOILERS FOLLOW: In episode 10, after the Heroes find out about Keith and Nathan getting their asses kicked by the Ouroboros twins, Antonio's line reads "We know how the enemy operates now. Sky High and Fire Emblem's sacrifice won't go to waste." Sakaki says that the original Japanese is really more like "actions" rather than "sacrifice." (I told y'all it was suuuuper minor.)
For my part, I'm hesitant to mention what tripped me up because I don't know what the original Japanese was in the instances I'm thinking, so I don't want to just run my mouth. If there's anything specific that y'all want us to look at, we can try our best to decipher things! If we're lucky we might all be thinking about the same things.
In terms of localization, the dub script does make several changes on a micro level — frex, Antonio's doner kebabs in episode 11 being changed to burritos, and actually a lot of his lines in that episode got some amazing flair (poor “Scaredy Cat”) — but on a macro level everything seemed fine to me at a glance.

Tiger & Bunny 2: The TLH Take
Well, it's really just me, Sora. The translator minion (Sakaki) has yet to see it, but I'll be streaming the first few eps for him soon and we'll be working our way through it over the next few weeks.
To the anon who sent an ask regarding our opinion on the series: I appreciate you reaching out but am answering you here more generally to avoid spoilers! I agree that the two characters you mentioned are Extremely Very Good Content (although with that said, so many other things from this season are also Extremely Very Good Content). What happened with them also makes me laugh because I've definitely seen ship art of those two on Pixiv even before what s2 did with them. FANS BE CALLING SHIT, MAN.
Sora's Personal Take: After the mixed bag that was The Rising for me, s2 has me shook like a toppled snowglobe. (My incoherent live commentary was peppered liberally with OMG and HOLY SHIT and FUCKING and I CAN'T BELIEVE and PLS.) It's not without its flaws (~quality~ art is back! and also some minor writing nitpicks), but to say that it's a return to form doesn't do it justice, because it really expands and polishes the original series. The newbie Heroes clearly address/mirror existing characters, but also feel very much like individuals and are integrated well both within the current Hero cast and within the plot as a whole. As for the Heroes we already know and love, they are instantly recognizable but have also recognizably changed in satisfying ways, and the way the narrative is constructed means that everyone gets good spotlights even just within this first cour. And if you're into action sequences (as I am), they absolutely blew the budget on those and it was well worth the expense (even if it does also kinda further highlight the disparity with the ~quality~ art on the normal animation).
WHAT ARE YOU ALL WAITING FOR, PLEASE WATCH THIS THING HOLY SHIT I'VE WAITED A DECADE FOR THIS —
(It should also be pointed out that the new director, Mitsuko Kase, is an Antonio fan. AND BOY DOES IT SHOW, AND IT'S FUCKING GREAT, AND IT'S 3000% WHAT THE COW DESERVES.)
Official Pronouncement as Priestess of the Tiny God: My dragon daughter is an absolute queen. I shouldn't be surprised at this, given that the other two members of Girls Team are also absolute queens, but here I am. I LOVE SHE.
I also didn't expect Sunrise to actually deliver on a specific wish I've had for her for years, and to do it the way that they did. Me of little faith!!
(But honestly, though, I cannot emphasize enough that everyone got amazing moments this cour. Nishida pulled off some goddamn magic. No matter who your favorite Hero is, you're going to find something to shriek over.)
***
If anyone really cares enough for more spoilery personal opinions from me, feel free to DM me on either my personal Tumblr (sora-g-silverwind) or my Twitter (soragsilverwind). But I make no promises that these opinions will be either coherent or correct.
except for the opinion (which is really more just True Facts) that all must worship the Tiny God and sate her hunger so that she does not devour the world
