BTW i see these posts all the time like "ohhh i dont know what to comment on fics.." and every response is "keysmashes! or hearts!! anything works :3" and thats GREAT!! thats helpful!!
but: consider. if u genuinely like analyzing writing.. do u know ur just allowed to go through and quote your favorite parts and ramble abt what they mean to u and the author will LOSE IT WITH HYPE?
genuinely. i felt SO WEIRD the first time i did it.. but like. holy shit authors love it. its crack for authors. the first time i did it, it was on a fic that hadnt updated in half a year, give or take, and the author made 3 updates that month BECAUSE OF MY COMMENT.
LIKE. as an author every comment is INCREDIBLE!!! but also, dont feel like your comment has to be short or otherwise ur invasive or smth!! authors ADORE long comments more than ANYTHING.

I absolutely love all your stories and my favourite are all the trick for treats once a year. It always gives me so many ideas to imagine the plot going. I only found you on tumblr last year after your requests had already closed. But I am so excited for this year's.
Thank you! I have a lot of fun writing the Tricks for Treats, although I think I will need to put a limit on how many I accept this year. I just do not have as much time as I did previously. I'm also debating if I should allow continuation requests this year, or only accept new prompts. Those were a lot of fun, but if I'm limited I sort of want to see new ideas…

If we’re being honest, most of us study our favourite character less like an entomologist studies a bug and more like an astronomer studies a distant star: drawing complicated inferences from extremely limited data, then getting tetchy about it when somebody else draws incompatible but equally well-supported inferences from the same data because it’s the fucking principle of the thing.

My friend sometimes brings her six-year-old to our DnD sessions and my husband (the DM) lets her roll for all enemy attacks and sometimes he will show her a few figures and let her secretly pick what creature we meet next. Who needs encounter tables when you have a first-grader around

You touched on something very nice in regards to assessment of the Death Star and being so baffled, that in real terms there is no POINT a couple of Star Destroyers could Glass a Planet in a couple of hours if you absolutely needed to, but that would lose you a planet which is a hideous and absurd waste of resources for anyone sane fighting a war, cause you usually want planets functional enough to get tribute, resources work, or just actually diplo to end wars. its Absurd. Only the Sith would.
One of the things that drives me nuts as a writer is trying to explain Palpatine's motivations. Like, the desire or willingness to destroy everything isn't mutually exclusive from the patience to insert yourself into the government and slowly dismantle and restructure it from the inside. But like...they are not...super compatible? There's a bit of overlap in lack of care, which I lean on heavily for keeping things sensible. It's not that his goal is to destroy everything. He's just willing to destroy a lot to get what he does want. Which is the feeling of being the most powerful person in the whole galaxy at any and every moment.
It's a terrifyingly simple and almost juvenile motivation, but we have to have something at the root of his actions, and a lot of the normal motives don't pan out. There's inconsistencies about how extravagant and lavish his lifestyle is, there's not a specific person he's trying to impress or obtain and keep (you could argue Anakin, but he was a late entry into the plan, and frankly I think having Anakin is about having power over Anakin, who is strong, not about Anakin as a person), he doesn't seem to enjoy governing so much as people fawning at him, and there's not really a clear revenge plot. Like, the Jedi Order are going down because he's a Sith, sure. But it seems a lot less about getting back at them and a lot more about removing them as an obstacle.
I dunno, he's an interesting character to try and piece together since he's so unarguably bad that the story doesn't really seem to want to spend time investigating or explaining it. He's just The Bad Guy. We know it. He's ugly and mean. He's a liar. He's a killer. He uses Lightning for Hurting People. What does the reason matter? Isn't it self evident?
Anyway, I think the Death Star is a wild super-weapon analogy and a fascinating metric by which to measure evil intent. Especially because it only seems to have been functional for a grand total of like, 24 hours and 5 shots. But what kind of person builds it? Twice. That's an interesting question.

I'm screaming! We finally got a debrief about the plans and I'm screaming. Mace recognizing this is where Leia's pain is from (somewhat probably not even consciously).
I know I've said it before but this story owns so much of my brain space and I love it. I'm rolling it around in my head like this is original canon.
Just aaaaaahhhhhhhh
Ahahaha, I'm so glad you're having a good time. I don't regret not posting since real life got in the way, because stuff happens and we all have to live with it. But I was a little sad to keep this plot arc in the middle of its tension for so long. I really hadn't meant to do that to people. And it's just going to keep ramping up for a bit longer, so I'm really hoping things are settled and I can get back to posting regularly. There's so much good stuff coming! I'm very excited for the next few chapters. I don't think they'll be what people expect. :D

Hi, as a reader only Ao3 girlie, do you get an email for every comment? Or does it maybe wait until the end of the day to give you all of them. Because I know writers say they love comments but as someone constantly fighting with the free Gmail 15GB I realized maybe, just maybe I should stick to one a day on this reread.
I do get an email for every comment, but please feel free to comment as much as you want in one day. I'm very good at maintaining my inbox and Love to see those notifications roll in. Only emails that find me well, I swear.
Also, if it was an issue, I'd turn off email notifications rather than tell people not to comment. I know what's important.

It is absolutely the last in the series. But at the rate we're going, I think you have plenty of time to adapt to letting Leia go.

Hi, I just wanted to say I stumbled onto Don’t Look Back the other day, and now I CANNOT. STOP. READING. IT.
I know this might send stalker vibes (sorry), but I’ve literally read or listened (via narrative app) to just about all of your stuff now. Your work is absolutely amazing! The political and social struggles, the developing trust or mistrust between characters, and Leia’s interpretation of the Force is just so unique. And Leia! Her characterization is so dynamic that it can grab attention from both fictional and real people. I’m on the edge of my seat waiting for the next chapter! You’ve even got me reading one shot aus and I never read one shots as a personal rule- they’re always so heartbreakingly short they haunt me.
On the topic of one shots, namely your Trick or Treats series, do you still take requests? Is it just something you do around Halloween so readers must wait to suggest a prompt or sequel?
Anyways, I just wanted to send you my best wishes and appreciation. I hope you have a wonderful day!
Thank you! (*^_^*) I'm glad you've been enjoying my writing so much. Always glad to know I'm provoking so many feelings.
So, Tricks for Treats is an event I've run two times in October, partially to satiate my poor readers who just want Leia to Say Something. It has rules and limitations on what prompts I'll take, and it is a lot of fun, but So Exhausting. I'm thinking I'll do one more year of prompts, but I may only take a limited number this time.
I don't mind if people send me prompts or ideas at other times, but I just like to be clear that sending me something doesn't mean I'll have the time or inspiration to write it. And if you want a continuation of a Tricks for Treats item specifically, I probably won't do it unless you ask during the event.
