Obi-Wan has another of his no good, very bad days.

If you can find the grace to cut slack to the old Star Wars movies for their occasional cheapness, to focus on and appreciate the characters/themes/storytelling, then you sure as fuck can do that for the Obi-Wan Kenobi series.

Especially considering that that show got cursed with filming during COVID, which would have ballooned its budget, and stretched their resources beyond maximum, and necessitated some cost-cutting, which explains the rather cheap and fake look that almost every movie made during the pandemic has.

In short, I'm tired of the people hating that show mainly over aesthetics. Actually pay attention to the story it tells, the ways it meaningfully builds upon these characters and the history, and how it made up for the Disney era's rather ghoulish downplaying of prequel lore on-screen up to that point.

And if you're one of those people that hates it because you think it's too padded out with 'pointless' stuff like Reva or Leia or whatnot, then you miss how those different plot strands are supporting the internal journey Obi-Wan is going on.

(AU where post-banishment Ahsoka gets zapped back to TPM, strapped with a fundamental distrust of the Jedi, an apocalyptic vision of the future, and a mandate to help Anakin Skywalker. So, in all this, it's nice to have a confidant.)

thinking of the Jedi's self sufficiency , and specifically about how they sew their own clothes. And I have ideas floating in my head of Anakin using Padme's dress patterns to sew something for Sister, or during the war Obi-Wan making clothes for Cody when he's on shore leave.

Ahsoka's dresses making more sense as she gets older because she made them herself. And as ridiculous as it was, a tube top & skirt was the easiest combo a 14 year old could make.

(In a happier world, thinking about the Jedi teaching their clones how to sew after the war, because while the clones can sew it wasn't for aesthetic purposes. Just for survival. The Kaminoans never really taught them how.

And when the clones are eventually do make their own money, and are granted their rights, refusing gifts from the Jedi when they can and actually buying their work. Because it's good fucking work.)

Imagining hours where the Jedi will sit in silence and just sew and embroidery their work. Sew together, alone.

Sew blankets, sew clothes, sew dolls, sew every and anything. Embroidery when they're done.

Teach sewing as stress relief. Teach their troopers sewing as stress relief. Do it themselves.

And years after the Fall of the Jedi, their embroidery and clothing being put in museums, respected. years of handmade and handsewn art and clothing displayed for all to see.
