Consistency Sunday
As an exercise to strengthen my discipline, I am creating a week-long challenge each Sunday outlining a particular daily habit I want to accomplish for the next seven days. My goal is to allow these baby steps to build on each other without becoming completely overwhelmed by so many drastic changes at once. Keep reading for more details and to follow along yourself!
Week 2: My second micro-goal is to begin each morning with at least 25 grams of protein.
Benefits to front-loading protein at the beginning of the day:
Energy & Appetite - Helps avoid that mid-morning crash and keeps you feeling satisfied longer.
Healthy skin and hair - Protein provides the essential amino acids required to synthesize collagen, which is a major key to great hair, skin, & nails (not to mention joints and connective tissues).
What I'm doing:
Hormone health - Adequate protein intake helps ensure your body's ability to regulate the various hormone peaks throughout your monthly cycle.
I'm not much of a morning person, so to meet this goal I will be utilizing a few different quality protein shakes, and may throw in a scrambled egg or two some mornings if I'm feeling ambitious. Overall, a simple protein-dense breakfast is easy to add to my morning routine for this week, and I hope to feel a positive shift in my overall energy levels throughout the day that motivates me to continue fueling my body with quality nutrients first thing in the morning.
As always, I invite you to join me in this slow and mindful journey to living my best life on a daily basis, one week at a time. Feel free to let me know if you are tackling the same habit alongside me, reblog and add your own micro-challenge for the week, or drop an ask to share some ideas for future Sundays!

Consistency Sunday
It's awfully intimidating trying to make multiple major lifestyle changes at once while trying to keep all those new habits permanent. What a recipe for burnout and discouragement! Wouldn't it be much more fun and approachable to break it down into short-term micro challenges that build upon each other to create the life of your dreams in a much more sustainable way? Keep reading for details and to follow along!
My backstory & motivation for this exercise: I've had the problem of refusing to live a disciplined life for quite a few years now. I didn't have the maturity to chanel the freedom that comes with adulthood into consistent efforts to improve my personal well-being. So here I am now trying to train myself to be an independently consistent and disciplined person. Better late than never, I suppose ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
As an exercise to strengthen my discipline, I will create a week-long challenge each Sunday outlining a particular daily habit I want to accomplish for the next seven days. I can do anything for seven days at a time! Then seven days in a row can turn into fourteen plus a new habit, then twenty-one plus a new habit, so on and so forth. My goal is to allow these baby steps to build on each other without becoming completely overwhelmed by so many drastic changes at once.
So here we are, week one. My first micro-goal is to floss & tongue scrape every evening for the next seven days.
Benefits of flossing:
Prevents sensitive gums & gingivitis
Eliminates plaque and tartar
Saves your teeth from cavities
Fresh breath! (Seriously, have you ever sniffed the floss after you were done flossing? Not great)
Benefits of tongue-scraping:
More fresh breath!
Improved taste
Better overall health (Seriously, oral hygiene and a healthy microbiom impacts so many other parts of your body)
Now, let's play devil's advocate for a second here... mostly because I don't yet have any followers (or hecklers) to interact with 😅
"But shouldn't you be doing that anyway?" Yes. Yes, I should. But I'm not, so that is why I'm trying to make a change.
"Is a goal that small really worth all the hype this post is giving it?" Perhaps not. But hey, why not give the small changes attention? This builds a habit of mindfulness and reflection on why we are doing what we are doing. It's an exercise in making conscious and well-thought-out shifts in my life, whether the changes are big or small.
"What a long-winded way to say you're going to floss every day." Fair enough 😂 In my defense, I'm also outlining the weekly nature of this challenge, explaining the long-term goals, and inviting in a community of like-minded individuals who want to join me in this endeavor. The posts will get shorter, I promise. I'm just laying the groundwork.
I want to wrap this post up with an invitation for you to join me in this slow and mindful journey to living my best life on a daily basis, one week at a time. Feel free let me know if you are tackling the same habit alongside me, reblog adding your own micro-challenge for the week, or drop an ask sharing some ideas for future Sundays!

Thriving no matter the season... easier said than done...
And thus, out of the ashes of an abandoned toxic blog reflecting the throes of disordered eating, and years later the sudden realization that a mediocre life has left me feeling completely and utterly stuck, @thrive-evergreen was born.
In all honesty and without going into details right away, I am not currently thriving. However, I see no reason why I can't start thriving if I holistically address certain issues and make some mindset and lifestyle adjustments. And that is what I am hoping to achieve through this blog. I am creating a space to reflect, grow, and explore my mindset and lifestyle through writing.
I'm sure more of my own story will organically unfold as we go, and if nothing else, I'm hoping to create something of an inspirational yet realistic memoir so I can have something from this...interesting phase of life to look back upon fondly. All that vague vulnerability to say, I warmly invite you to join me and follow along on this journey of self-discovery, growth, and healing.
