my personal design headcanons for kakyoin during/post fleshbud because i think it’s fun to visibly differentiate his dio-induced emo era. i think he enjoys taking care of his appearance but after he got fleshbudded he wasn’t doing it as frequently bc dio always had him running around doing whatever he needed him to so kakyoin didn’t have a lot of time for self maintenance. it got way worse when he was sent back to japan to kill jotaro because all his energy went into tracking him down so he didn’t shave, didn’t eat or sleep very well, etc etc all leading to him looking. Not great. when he showed up at the school jotaro’s first thought was “this guy looks like SHIT” and then twenty minutes later beat him unconscious which probably didn’t help

post-fleshbud, he can finally do shit for himself again, so he goes back to actually maintaining his appearance (probably more than he did pre-fleshbud out of some kind of spite towards dio) and by the time the crusaders get to egypt he looks WAY better than he did when they left japan. his natural hair color is dark brown but he bleaches it & dyes it pink in a moment of downtime while he’s still fleshbudded, so he starts out with barely visible roots and ends in egypt with his hair grown back out a significant amount. he never really manages to get rid of the terrible eyebags, but he definitely looks a hell of a lot better than where he started out
