Just want to express my simpness for Tifa with my poor art skills. Multishipper, don't need to bring canon in everything, thank you.

It's kinda ironically poetic how Seph found his (half) mother in his birthplace that he isn't even aware of, and the first thing he did was burn the place and take away Cloud and Tifa's parents.
The villain's origin is paid with the hero and heroine' origins

Oh, Nier too?
Maybe SE is the problem.

This line always fucks me up a bit whenever I see it. Cos what does he mean by this??? What is "everything we stand for" Zack talking about here??? After getting shot by 100 bullets, I honestly think Zack would know better than anyone else, why would a SOLDIER, especially Sephiroth, will turn his back on all the "values" Shinra's fed them back then. "Everything" they stood for was a giant brainwash military propaganda by Shinra. Zack has a whole ass Crisis Core to come to term with it. Shinra harms innocent people, his mentor, his idol, his best friend, his girlfriend, THEY KILL HIM, MULTIPLE TIMES, RIGHT BEFORE THIS BATTLE! He'd been pickled in a lab for 4 years. He's ready to cut hundreds of his old colleagues. He threw a fucking stop sign at Shinra's helicopter at the very beginning of Rebirth. Why is he saying this now??? Genuinely what more does Shinra have to do to Zack for him to let go of the glorified ideal of SOLDIER? Took Cloud way less to see Shinra for what it is, including the nature of SOLDIER. What's the point of Crisis Core anymore??? He can kill anyone from Shinra that stands in his way, but letting go of SOLDIER title is where he draws the line?
What do YOU stand for, Zack? As a SOLDIER? You can't just separate SOLDIER from Shinra. That's not how it works. Everything every SOLDIER in existence has done is for Shinra and Shinra alone. There's no way Zack isn't aware of this.
Anyone well-versed in Zack's lore can give me a logical explanation of this dialogue after everything he's been through? Like I need an actual character breakdown that naturally leads to this conclusion, or else, to me, this single line sets his journey back several steps, unless there's some translation issue, and his JP line carries a different meaning. But that's a whole different problem.

Good news everyone, I asked around and the JP dialogue is different.
English:
Zack: What the hell happened to you? You were a SOLDIER! How could you turn your back on everything we stand for!?
Sephiroth: Easily.
Japanese (rough translation):
Zack: Hey, we're SOLDIER, right? Where's your pride?
Sephiroth: Nonsense.
So Zack is still trying to remind Seph that they're buddies and questioning his dignity specifically. The part that I have beef with doesn't even exist. I was stressed out over nothing.
Bad news is SENA fucking sucks ass, they can't keep getting away with this and they need to go.

FF7 enthusiast and theorist, I have some questions:
Is this First Soldier chapter the first time Sephiroth has been depicted with degradation symptom in canon?
Tumblr media
2. Gi and Jenova. Are their natures the same, something doesn't belong to the Planet nor the Lifestream? Does this mean Jenova is immortal like Gi? It can never be truly defeated and disappear from the Planet? And the reason why Seph can enter the Lifestream is because he's half human?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
3. Roche's tattoo is SC4, probably stands for S cells number 4. Which means, there are 3 more experiments before him. Cloud doesn't have a number, neither does Zack. And even if they do count, there's still 1 more person with S cells around. Anyone have any guess who the other 3 are?
Then again, Hojo recognizes Cloud this time, so who knows.

"Realistic Tifa"
I see the debate about Tifa's body making its way to the fandom again for the 158349th times, and just like the 158348 times before, I'm puzzled by that notion. Cos no, realistically speaking, Tifa would NOT be bulky. And I'll tell you why.
Let's get this out of the way first before anyone wants to use it as a gotcha. Yes, I do draw Tifa more muscular than her game model. But that's because I suck at anatomy, and there's no better way to study than to cooperate it with drawing fanart. I also draw Cloud bigger than he is in the game. Ok? Let's move.
Now, when they say "realistic," I want to ask, "Realistic how?". Cos if we're talking about the reality that the character Tifa Lockhart lives in the world of the game Final fantasy 7, then no, her body isn't unrealistic.
For started, the training program that she's taken from the beginning was never about building muscle.
Tumblr media
And it's not a throw-away line, you can see this reflects clearly in her canon lore in the game. Among the cast, Tifa's one of the fastest characters. In the stair climbing mission in Remake, she's way ahead of Cloud- an enhanced human equivalent of a first-class SOLDIER. In Nibelheim mission, she's as fast as or even faster than Sephiroth and Zack - 2 actual first-class SOLDIERS- at some point. Even in og, her design has always included her long legs, which means that this character has speed. Most of the attacks she uses in cutscenes are kicks (Eligor, Red Dragon,vv...). All of her limit breaks (Somersault, Dolphin Flurry, Meteor Strikes) mainly use her legs. Tifa is absolutely a lower body girlie.
Tumblr media
You can read here about in-depth analysis of Tifa's fighting style. You can see that there are a lot of gymnastics inspired moves. Don't forget that Tifa is used to climbing back when she was a guide. Climber, gymnasts, runner, they don't require a lot of bulky muscle. Typically, their bodies are cut, lean, and flexible, like Tifa. Had she continued with her training and climbed more, maybe her upper body would've developed more, too. Unfortunately, Tifa's pierced by a 6-foot sword at the age of 15, which almost killed her and took an incredible toll on her body.
Tumblr media
Wounded, alone and poor, she had to spend the next 3 years working her fingers to the bone to pay medical debt, living on steamed buns, sleeping in a container. Of course, she still remembers to train, but there's no way she can regain the body before Nibelheim with significantly less time and food. By the time she reached 18, she managed to free herself from the scam, but that doesn't mean she can relax. In 2 years, she had to learn to mix drinks, manage a restaurant, code, help around sector 7, take care of a child, learn about the city, and then fight. Here's her schedule for a day in 7th heaven.
Tumblr media
Imagine cooking, serving, mixing, managing a restaurant for a whole day, on top of Avalanche stuff, on top of training, on top of fighting monsters, on top delivering water filter ALL-BY-YOURSELF, just imagine how exhausting that would be. And remember, she still lived in a slum. Just because she works in the kitchen doesn't mean she can eat as she likes. Those food are for the customers. You can see that Tifa's body has low body fat as her veins are visible even when her body is relaxed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To have the body that many promote to be Tifa's "realistic body", or in another name "beefa", she need A LOT of calories and nutrition intake, a different, heavier workout routine and the addition of high-intensity interval training. Tifa simply doesn't have that luxury with the life she had in sector 7. Look at how much female body builder has to eat to maintain their body. There's no way Tifa can follow this.
Tumblr media
People still have the misconception that it is muscle=strength. Go and google body builder/gymer vs. farmer, worker, fighter, vv... Not all big muscles are strong, and not all strong muscles are visible. There's a reason we have terms like "dad strength," "farmer/worker strength," "sleeper build," and "functional strength vs. gym strength, "... Tifa's body makes sense within her circumstance and design direction.
And if you want to pull the "But she can punch metal machine with her bare hands," I'll point to the rest of the FF7 cast. Barret carries a machine gun 24/7, his right arm should've been waaay bigger than his left arm. Cloud and Yuffie jump around with giant metal weapons 24/7 too, yet Yuffie is even skinner than Tifa, and Cloud's body is definitely not bulk enough either. Ah yes, let's talk about Cloud Strife. If we talk about lore, Cloud's body is too buff for someone who hasn't moved a muscle for 5 years. And if we talk about "reality," Cloud is 100% a steroid user. His body is juiced up with Mako. Yet his muscles don't develop enough to be believable. To be able to wield a pure steel giant sword like the Buster sword, he should at least look like this. With the power of Mako and S cells, Cloud could've totally had a much more ripped body. However, people never question his build. Power scaling in FF7 never makes 100% sense, but everyone else rolls with it just fine until it comes to Tifa.
Also, materia exists. Tifa's gloves are equipped with them. Why don't people consider those canon material when discussing Tifa's strength?
That's why I never understand why these types of debate only focus on Tifa and her alone. FF7 world has enough fantasy elements and real-world settings to justify her design. Why is she always singled out to carry the responsibility to be "100% accurate design"? When her body is backed up by lore reasons, real-life reasons, and design reasons? A girl who's fatally wounded, lost all her muscle, spent 5 years working and eat cheap food, lived in a gutter, is dirt poor, and spent most her days running, hiding, stressing over life; is skinny and toned? No waaayyyy~
