A Weekend of Concerts (Behind the Scenes!) (Celtic Singer)

The weekend of September 15, 2023 was a whirlwind to say the least! On Friday (the 15th) I got to perform with The Wayward Companions at the Bradford House Museum's Whiskey Rebellion Fundraising Dinner, which took place at the Hilton Garden Inn in Southpointe, PA. It was quite an experience! Then the following day, I performed the song "Amazing Grace" at the dedication and commemoration of the headstone for Daniel South Jr. (born in the late 18th century and transcended in 1811) at Old St. Luke's Church in Carnegie, PA. It was an honor to do so. In this video, I take with me for the entire weekend and also answer Q&A questions sent to me via my Instagram and Facebook pages. Both of these events were VIP events, so since I couldn't invite people from the public to come out, a behind the scenes video it was! This was truly a fun and memorable weekend and I am so grateful to have been able to be part of these events. A big thank you to the Bradford House Museum, Old St. Luke's Church, and the Mayflower Society.

LIVING ROOM SESSIONS LIVESTREAM: Crazy Man Michael (Celtic Folk Music)

On Sunday evening, August 27, I held my first Facebook Livestream based off of my long running Living Room Sessions. This year, I decided to change up the format a little from the normal pre-recorded sessions that I've been doing for the past few years. I am now making you part of the living room sessions, sort of like a virtual jam session. I invite to come in, comment, even request a song that you would like me to do for a future stream! I plan to do this monthly at first, but I'll likely add more sessions as I go. Sometimes I'll be flying solo and other times I might have a guest musician! I look forward to this new Living Room Sessions format and I look forward to having you along!

LULLABY (dark ethereal Celtic song) - Live Performance

My set in Chuck Owston's End of Summer Concert, I included my song Lullaby, which is available as a single. In this performance, I broke it down to piano and voice only and it was the first time I performed the song live for an audience. The song is inspired by the Hans Christian Andersen stories, The Match Girl and The Little Mermaid. It was also written for the Paranormal docu-drama, Lilly's Cry.

This episode was recorded on the spot when Chuck Owston and I did our living room session for the traditional folk song Raggle Taggle Gypsy. Many artists have recorded and performed this popular folk song, but do you know the story behind it? In this episode, folk musician Chuck Owston discusses the story behind the song that is not know to many and also gets a little more into some of the other popular European folk songs that also have interesting back stories.

Greensleeves (w/ Pittsburgh Historical Music Society) (English Traditional)

On May 1, I performed with the Pittsburgh Historical Music Society Orchestra at the May Day event at Depreciation Lands Museum in Allison Park, PA. And since I'm also a Tudor/Plantagenet history enthusiast, May is often Anne Boleyn month in a lot of Tudor history circles and today (when this video is posted) is the day on which Anne Boleyn, Henry VIII's second wife and mother of Elizabeth I, was executed based on very flimsy claims. I decided to post Greensleeves today because one of the legends behind the song is that Henry VIII wrote it (or at least a version of the poem) for Anne Boleyn when he was trying court her and annul his marriage to Catherine of Aragon. I hope you enjoy this more classical and operatic version of the song. As I said before, while I love singing metal, rock, and folk, I do love returning to my classical and opera roots!

LIVING ROOM SESSION: Raggle Taggle Gypsy (w/ Chuck Owston) (Celtic Folk Music)

Well here it is! The newest Living Room Session with my friend Chuck Owston. This is a popular Celtic/Irish Folk song that has been performed by many amazing musical artists (my current favorite is Derek Ryan's version). The song tells of a woman leaving her home and her 'newly wedded Lord', though there is more to the song than that. In fact at the end of the song, Chuck discusses some of the history behind the song and how Raggle Taggle Gypsy and the song's verses only tell half the story. Chuck and I may do a song that tells a prequel to the story, but until then, enjoy this living room session of Raggle Taggle Gypsy!

Raggle Taggle Gypsy (w/ Chuck Owston) Preview (Traditional Celtic Folk)

Last weekend (May 4, 2022), I got to do another Living Room Session with my good musician friend, Chuck Owston. This time, we performed the traditional folk song, Raggle Taggle Gypsy. At the end of the song, Chuck discusses a little of the history behind the song, which is quite fascinating in itself. In the future, we may actually perform another song that is a sort of a prequel to the song, as Raggle Taggle Gypsy only tells about half the story. Stay tuned as the song drops this Wednesday!
