Wondimu Kassahun Zegeye | Morgan State University | Hate speech | misogyny | Mocking rape | Genocide denial

Wondimu Kassahun Zegeye is a PhD holder and a Morgan State University graduate who spent the entire Tigray genocide period spewing racist misogynist violent content and hate speech on Twitter using different accounts and stolen women’s photos. The latest in our series of members of Ethipia’s academic elite who used their education to tirelessly support the Ethiopian government during its campaign of rape and murder, Wondimu Kassahun Zegeye who is supposedly an expert in IT operated numerous accounts even as Twitter blocked and banned them for mocking rape victims. He had no sympathy even as 600,000 Tigrayans died from the genocide he supported. Until this day he continues with extremely racist content that targets Tigrayans, Somalis and Ukrainians.
Wondimu Kassahun Zegeye described himself as a “cyber security and data science researcher,” as well as an “educator and innovator,” on his original Twitter profile. When the genocide of Tigrayans began in 2020, he began to dedicate more and more of his time to using Twitter for hate speech, denying war crimes and spreading racism. But as his foul conduct would likely geet him in trouble in the work force, Wondimu Kassahun Zegeye decided to change his Twitter handle, Twitter name and profile picture in order to engage in abusive disgusting behavior online without revealing his identity.
Unfortunately for him, Tigrayan online investigators were able to easily identify his identity despite him being a self declared cyber security expert. More on that later.
In 2021, Wondimu Kassahun Zegeye changed his handle from @RasWonde to @GraceHoneyPot and his Twitter name to Grace. He engaged in catphishing by stealing the photograph of a young woman in Addis Ababa and pretending to be her (we are not identifying the woman, but we want to make it clear she has nothing to do with Wondimu Kassahun Zegeye’s online activities).
With the persona of a young woman, Wondimu Kassahun Zegeye began to mock rape victims of the Tigray genocide. Ethiopian and Eritrean soldiers gang raped hundreds of thousands of women during the war, and rape victims still suffer as a result today. Horrific reports of the suffering of rape victims, many who contracted HIV, were raped over a period of days or weeks, had foreign objects inserted into them, or had their reproductive organs burned while being mocked with genocidal violence shocked the world.
In response to such horrors, in May 2021, using his fake name @gracehoneypot, Wondimu Kassahun Zegeye used disgusting language to mock Tigrayan rape victims saying:
“TIP: Every time TPLFites call you names like "Donkey", ask them "How does it feel like to be f**ked by a Donkey ?" 😛 Sorry not sorry 🤷♀️” a link to this disgusting tweet: https://web.archive.org/web/20210504185813/https:/twitter.com/GraceHoneypot/status/1389655182359900170
In response to a tweet by Kenneth Roth of Human Rights Watch who expressed sadness about the reports of gang rapes of women by up to 10 Ethiopian soldiers, Wondimu Kassahun Zegeye quoted and wrote:
"sometimes as many as 10 men waiting their turn to rape her." At least make the story plausible. You made it as if she was the only woman available in Tigray. dum dum dum” link to this tweet: https://web.archive.org/web/20210314043527/https:/twitter.com/GraceHoneypot/status/1370956686811398144
By using the picture of a young woman in Addis Ababa, Wondimu Kassahun Zegeye endangered her by using her image to spread extremely violent tweets which mocked rape victims. Tigrayans complained and reported the account, but nothing happened. As the trauma from reports of vulnerable rape and genocide victims in Tigray caused trauma for Tigrayans around the world, Mr. Wondimu Kassahun Zegeye used his platform which had tens of thousands of followers to insult them with language that is not fit for someone who is supposedly educated with a phD.
#FakeTigrayRape and #faketigraygenocide were some of the hashtags Wondimu Kassahun Zegeye used when engaging in misogyny online.
As a small brained, disgusting, misogynist, insecure man, Wondimu Kassahun Zegeye went after women who were outspoken or critical about the gang rapes that were carried out against Tigrayan women. Unable to intimidate them, he repeatedly harassed them online in an attempt to force them off the platform.
In response to reporting by the CNN’s Nima Elbagir who had found out that Tigrayan men were targeted in genocidal killings near the border with Sudan a very angry Wondimu Kassahun Zegeye claimed the reports were false and that the bodies of dead rebel fighters were being identified as civilians and dumped in a single place for Nima to fake a massacre, misinformation that Ethiopian government supporters were spreading for most of the genocide. He kept denying reports of atrocities and genocide with no evidence but blind rage and hatred, as even if journalists from around the world were confirming the reports.
In response to artificial intelligence expert Dr. Timnit Gebru repeatedly condemning the rape and genocide, Wondimu Kassahun Zegeye used his account to tag her and call her “a virgin.” Social media users now say that Mr. Wondimu Kassahun Zegeye had repeatedly targeted Dr. Timnit because of her superior expertise in IT, a field that Mr. Wondimu Kassahun Zegeye specializes in and the idea of him trailing far behind a woman in every aspect clearly hurt him deeply. The disgusting misogynist insult did not intimidate Dr. Timnit Gebru.
He also targeted Meaza Gidey Gebremedhin a Tigrayan and another formidable woman who spoke out and condemned the genocide. Likely burning and insecure about Meaza being able to attend powerful summits and platforms, Mr. Wondimu Kassahun Zegeye called her “a little satan.”
When Russia invaded Ukraine, Mr. Wondimu Kassahun Zegeye began commenting on Russian affairs siding with Russia and referring to Ukrainian fighters as “Nazis” and “bitches.” His opinion on the invasion of Ukraine was “The west allied to fight the Nazi to crown themselves as the better Nazi not coz they are against fascism!” Once he referred to the TDF Tigray fighters in Tigray and Ukrainian soldiers as nazis fighting for the west.
He denied massacres and human suffering. He attacked a journalist for the AFP Robbie Corey-Boulet because he reported on killings of Tigrayan civilians. Robbie’s reporting revealed that new massacres and displacement were taking place in Humera. But Wondimu Kassahun Zegeye called it “another fake Humera massacre.”
Instead he kept spreading misinformation saying that all the dead civilians in the massacre reports were really dead fighters whose bodies were being carried to locations to look like a massacre.
In September 2021 when Al Jazeera produced a report confirming that women were still being raped and victims of horrible sexual violence weaponized by soldiers Mr. Wondimu Kassahun Zegeye said “They are now regurgitating their old videos and playing victims once again.” Mr. Wondimu Kassahun Zegeye’s obsession with mocking the rape victims was shocking and disgusting.
After almost two years of denying genocide and mocking journalism genocide reports Twitter finally suspended Mr. Wondimu Kassahun Zegeye’s fake @GraceHoneyPot account.
But he immediately opened a new account also named Grace, with a new handle @adeniumobesum_ and made it clear that this was his new one because the old one was suspended.
He stole the photograph of another young woman and continue to catphish believing that no one would know of his true identity. This account remains active and he is using the photograph of a young Italy based Eritrean woman who has nothing to do with his Twitter activity. Again, because he is pretending to be the women in his photographs, the real women may possibly be endangered by his use of violent, racist genocidal language with their photographs.
When Tigrayans learned of his real identity, Mr. Wondimu Kassahun Zegeye panicked and because he thinks he is a cybersecurity expert, he believed the only way it was possible was that Twitter employees secretly handed his data to Tigrayan activists. He tweeted threatening to sue Twitter employees who he thought exposed him.
But the truth is Mr. Wondimu Kassahun Zegeye was not a smart man. Instead of using a new account for his bad activities, he used his original account by renaming the account. So by searching for the account history, it was easy to find that the @GraceHoneyPot account that he used to mock rape victims for two years was originally his @RasWonde account.
Some evidence is here. Look at this link https://web.archive.org/web/20210103144721/twitter.com/RasWonde/status/1345743224074358785
This link with “ras wonde” in it leads to a tweet he made in 3rd January 2021. It is his original account and you can see his real photo, his real name in Amharic and his original handle.
But then a few weeks later he tweeted this 24 January 2021.
This link also has “ras wonde.” In this picture, he changed the photo to the stolen one of the young women, but he did not change the handle yet. So we can see his original @RasWonde handle with the stolen photo and the fake name Grace.
On 25 January 2021 he tweeted with this link and the new handle: https://web.archive.org/web/20210125005720/https://twitter.com/GraceHoneypot/status/1353507057266274311
But he forgot to change the old bio from @Raswonde and it still say “AI for cyber security researcher, educator, innovator.” In the pictures below, you can see the same tweets for both @Raswonde and even @Gracehoneypot. So if you want to steal women’s photos and use Twitter to attack and harass women and rape victims the lesson is you should not use your own account!
Nowadays with the genocide in Tigray slowing down Mr. Wondimu Kassahun Zegeye focuses his energy on racism and hate speech targeting Somali people. Using his new account @adeniumobesum he uses disgusting racist stereotype language and calls Somali people by using an ethnic slur “zoomali” which is very offensive to Somali people and culture. He spent the last year using this term and spreading racism against them and also calling them bitches.
He also uses xenophobia and islamophobia against them.
One tweet read:
“Zoomali eating banana like a monkey and stateless. You guys kill each other like the worst epidemic and still practice the Abrhamic religion, Islam.” Here is the link: https://x.com/AdeniumObesum_/status/1645292412451934208
Mr. Wondimu Kassahun Zegeye is an insecure, evil, disgusting misogynist. He spent years of his life dedicated to mocking victims of a genocide that left 600,000 people dead. His hatred of women who were not intimidated or afraid of him triggered an anger in him that led him to an obsession with women journalists, activists and anti genocide voices. He tried to pretend to be a woman, using the faces he stole through catphishing. In the end, Tigrayan women are the ones who exposed his real identity.
He is just another member of Ethiopia’s educated elite who used his education for genocidal purposes, siding with rapists against girls and women.
N.B reminder that the women seen in the photographs of Mr. Wondimu Kassahun Zegeye twitter accounts HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH HIS TWITTER ACTIVITY! They did not consent to their images being used in this disgusting way, which is illegal and a violation of their rights.

Moges Zewdu Teshome | Vienna School of International Studies | International law | Genocide denial |

Another in our series of Ethiopian academics who lobbied for genocide in Tigray is Moges Zewdu Teshome. He gained a law degree in Ethiopia before continuing his studies at Vienna School of International Studies in Austria. But despite his law degree, just like the others featured in this blog, Moges Zewdu Teshome used his expertise to deny genocide in Tigray, deny specific atrocities in Tigray. He used his social media presence from 2020 to 2022 as a spamming tool to attack journalists, human rights researchers, diplomats, activists and anyone who called for an end to war crimes and an end to Ethiopia’s genocidal war in Tigray. He appeared in Ethiopian television outlets where he spread his views and mocked suffering victims of drone massacres. Today, he remains active in atrocity denial, genocide denial, and played an important role in the spread of genocidal propaganda.
Shortly after Ethiopian and Eritrean troops began attacking Tigray in November 2020, much of the world expressed fear and worry about possible human rights abuses and the impact on Tigrayans. You would expect the educated elite to feel the same. But like many of his fellow Ethiopian academics, Moges Zewdu Teshome feverishly cheered on the war even as reports of slaughter of civilians began to emerge.
Two days after the war began he tweeted the following: My single most important advise in relation to the war in Ethiopia is this: once you chose the path of war, GIVE WAR A CHANCE!!!
“Give war a chance!” he later tweeted on November 11th 2020, a week after the fighting had begun. “Surge the offensive and finish off the job. When there is no peace to keep, war brings it along. Talk to the bandits in the only language they know, coercion, not persuasion.”
He tweeted at the Ethiopian genocidal Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed that all out war was necessary, because “half measures were as bad as no measures.”
On Twitter, Moges Zewdu Teshome joined other likeminded Ethiopian academics in harassing people who denounce war. Moges targeted Belgian European Parliament member Assita Kanko after she denounced the war, Moges targeted Human Rights Watch researcher Laetitia Bader by calling her a “TPLF crony” after she condemned the targeting of the city of Mekelle in airstrikes, and UN Human Rights Council lawyer Betty Murungi who he called “disgraceful” because she called for crimes against humanity to stop.
He once tweeted, when Mekelle sneezes, Minnesota sneezes! This was how he was mocking the many anti genocide protests that were taking place in Minnesota and other cities across the United States.
When he was on air he said something similar about the anti war voices who were tweeting using the hashtag #saynotowar: “they are just pack mules for the OLA (rebel group) and TPLF (rebel group). The people who say “no to war” they are TPLF sympathizer and only want to save the rebels.”
During the war, he appeared on the Adebabay TV, which was famous for spreading hate speech targeting Tigrayans. While their, he went on air and spoke about war crimes and made arguments that justify the targeting of residential and civilian areas of a town, saying that this act does not violate war crimes laws if it is being used by rebel forces to store weapons. Remember, this person allegedly has a degree in international law.
“If an enemy is using a location as war trench or firing position or a place to hide, it can be an oil depot or another type of infrastructure, it is no longer protected (by Geneva convention) and is a legitimate military target.”
Moges Zewdu Teshome was saying this as at the time the Ethiopian government was shelling hospitals, schools, and markets in the city of Mekelle, and the towns of Humera and Shire, killing at least 83 civilians, including children, and wounding over 300 (Human Rights Watch). His comments timing came and became justification for the use of everything from hospitals to homes as military targets.
He also stated in the same interview that the war was not a civil war, because only the Ethiopian government could designate it as a civil war and it had not done so. According to Moges Zewdu Teshome’s hilarious misinformation, only if it is an international conflict can outsiders designate a conflict. In that case, only the international community and the Red Cross (ICRC) a humanitarian medical organization can issue a designation! This was done to promote the government description of the war as “law enforcement operation” very similar to Russian government term for its invasion of Ukraine: “special military operation.” He attacked people who used the world civil war to describe conflict that killed hundreds of thousands.
He used genocidal language to justify the war in another interview. He said it was necessary operation to “make Tigrayans accept Ethiopianism again.”
For the next couple of years, he used his air time and social media time to mock Tigrayan victims of atrocities and the anti war protesters who called for a ceasefire.
Between August and September 2022, there were several drone massacres in Tigray, including one which killed seven people including children when a kindergarten in the city of Mekelle was struck, and two more which killed ten people in residential areas a few weeks later.
Most of the time, when drones and airstrikes were killing people in Tigray, journalists would reach out to doctors at Ayder Hospital, the only functioning major hospital in Tigray, since genocidal forces had destroyed and looted over 70% of the region’s health centers. Dr. Kibrom Gebreselassie from the Ayder Hospital, would often confirm the drone strikes since he personally received victims.
As a result of his work, Mr Moges Zewdu Teshome identified Dr Kibrom and began singling him out for harassment on social media. He denied the drone strikes even happened and would claim that Dr. Kibrom was lying.
“General Kibrom Gebreselassie is back again from the front line of the battlefield!” he said. “whenever and wherever there is Kibrom, there is a drone!” He would repeatedly insult him, once calling him “the sole mouthpiece for the TPLF propaganda wing.”
He claimed that the reports of drones attacking civilians were a “distortion of facts.”
“How can every drone strike attack civilians? And how can all the medical professionals speak the same narrative? Coincidence or coordinated campaign?”
Drone strike massacres across Tigray were confirmed by many media reportings. But Moges Zewdu Teshome denied the reportings. Remember, he spoke on air saying that drone massacres of civilian targets would be permitted if there were rebel armaments in the area. He uses the same logic used by genocidal Israeli forces in Gaza who justify air massacres of civilians by saying “Hamas has a tunnel there.”
“If there is a drone attack, it’s because there was fighting,” he said in response to news about the aerial massacre of 70 civilians in the village of Adi Daero. But there was no fighting and the BBC found destruction of homes in civilian areas where no fighting was happening.
He repeatedly denied genocide. Even after reports emerged of death tolls in Tigray passing half a million he still called the claim “baseless and dry propaganda.” He said “I specialize in international criminal justice I know the ins and outs of genocide.”
But even after international genocide experts came together and published a 120 page report on genocide which confirms that the Ethiopian and Eritrean armies which he defended during the war actually commit genocide in Tigray he still denies it to this day.
After people with far superior expertise than him put together a paper which he has no ability to refute, he recently changed his view from “there is no genocide” to “I wont accept genocide claim by non-authoritative scholars, only from international tribunal.”
Of course this is all hypocritical. Moges Zewdu Teshome has previously labeled two massacres outside of Tigray, one of 50 people another of 161 people that took place in 2020 as both being genocide. No international tribunal ever referred to those mass killings as genocide but it was still enough for him to give it the genocide label. It is clear that for Mr Moges Zewdu Teshome, when victims are non Tigrayan he needs no time to label it genocide even if there is no international tribunal declaration.
But if Tigrayans are slaughtered on an unprecedented scale to the point where genocide scholars release a two year report confirming genocide, it is suddenly no longer sufficient.
There is nothing new here. Moges Zewdu Teshome simply followed the pathway of the many other Ethiopian fascist scholars who have zero critical thinking and only herd mentality skills. As a result of this during a genocidal war and an attempt to wipe out Tigrayans by using killings and hunger, they all sided with two powerful armies and used their education to justify the collective punishment of 6 million people.

Agenagn Kebede Dagnew | University of Injibara | University of South Africa | Hate speech | Misinformation | Political Scientist

Agenagn Kebede Dagnew is a PhD student at the University of South Africa and was a lecturer at the University of Injibara in Ethiopia. Over the past few years he has written blog post and scholarly articles on Ethiopian political issues. He is published in London School of Economics, moderndiplomacy.eu, International Journal of Research in Social Sciences and more.
Agenagn’s work is mostly low quality, poor researched, racist and dehumanizing towards Ethiopian ethnicities, including Tigrayans and Gumuz people. During the 2020-2022 Tigray genocide, Agenagn was active on social media where he mocked victims of famine and rape, while denying reports of atrocities committed by Ethiopian armed forces.
About 100,000 Tigrayan women faced rape at the hands of Ethiopian and Eritrean soldiers or Amhara militants during the genocide. Journalists documented extremely violent sexual abuse that was genocidal in nature. According to Amnesty International:
“The sexual violence that Amnesty International has documented has been accompanied by shocking levels of brutality, including beatings, death threats, and ethnic slurs. Some of the victims were held in captivity by the perpetrators for days and weeks, in circumstances constituting sexual slavery; others were raped in front of their children and other family members.”
In March 2021, Mona Lisa Abraha, an 18 year old Tigrayan girl appeared on Al Jazeera TV from a hospital bed, where she told the world about how she fought back against Eritrean soldiers who had tried to rape her. She tearfully recounted being beaten and shot for resisting by the soldiers who left her for dead. She survived but had to have a hand and a leg amputated.
In response to the Al Jazeera video, Agenagn Kebede Dagnew published a blog post on Mona Lisa which includes in its title “Monaliza the deceiver!!!!” In the poorly written address to “international community and media” Agenagn claims that Mona Lisa is a soldier and that she was not raped, but actually injured in battle fighting alongside TPLF forces. Agenagn denies Mona Lisa’s story saying the allied Ethiopian and Eritrean troops don’t commit rapes because “it is not the discipline of Amhara, Ethiopia, and Eritrea forces to act in such a way rather a nefarious work had been common among TPLF members.” He mocks the young girl’s suffering and includes a picture of another woman carrying a weapon which he claims is of Mona Lisa.
Earlier, in response to the arrest of a Tigrayan journalist during the war, Agenagn made the same claim tweeting that the journalist was in fact an armed fighter and an “active participant in the terrorist Tigray People Liberation Front.”
During the atrocities, Agenagn incited violence using his blog. While reports of massacres of Tigrayans made headlines, Agenagn continued to call on the army to “reduce the TPLF and its followers to dust.”
With no response from the international community, by March 2022, Agenagn had begun urging Ethiopians to fight alongside Russian troops against the Ukrainian army.
In December 2022, Agenagn published a scholarly article in the Global Peace and Security journal. Titled “The Duped Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) as Actor for Genocide and Causes of Conflict”. The article somehow made it to a peer reviewed journal.
It is extremely shocking how this could be peer reviewed and published. The article is full of misinformation and content which is written to incite hatred of Tigrayans. In it, Agenagn claims that the TPLF carried out a genocide that was worse than the acts of Adolf Hitler. Here is an excerpt:
“Hearing about the TPLF is more interesting than Hitler! Its genocide against the Amhara people is far greater than Nazi Germany’s genocide against Jews. We will never find a terrorist group in East Africa that has done everything anti-human in the world.”
On atrocities carried out against Amharas in Ethiopia, Agenagn blames “The elites of Tegaru, the Tigray politicians, and scholars of Tigray have tortured the Gumez mind.”
Agenagn’s explanation for atrocities carried out by ethnic Gumuz armed groups equates to dehumanization of the ethnic Gumuz minority as a whole.
“Gumuz represents an uncivilized society and an easy tool to use as a killer machine… Gumez was duped into believing that killing Amhara and eating Amhara flesh were holy acts. Because of this, Gumezes are eating, firing, shooting, and stabbing Amhara’s body.”
The article is racist, genocidal, and dehumanizing. Agenagn goes on to condemn the international community for its criticizing of Ethiopia’s human rights violations in Tigray, all of which he says were false. He finishes with “Please, live for truth and humanity! First, check facts, then hear the bogus information of TPLF’s paid journalists and agents. It is not rational to cry when TPLF kicked into hell after you preferred silence for 27 years of TPLF’s anti-humanities and anti-democracy manipulation.”
How this garbage passed a peer review and was published by a prominent journal is shocking!
Agenagn Kebede’s hate speech against Tigrayans can be found online as far back as 2018. Despite a history of offensive remarks and hate speech, the London School of Economics described Agenagn being a researcher of many things including “political issues of marginalised groups (minorities and LGBTQ people).” Imagine, a man known for sowing hatred against minority groups described in this way.
In the end, Agenagn Kebede was just one of a long line of Ethiopian academics whose education was used to dehumanize and mock victims of a genocide.

Zemenu Yesigat | hate speech | dehumanization | Lawyer | Academic elite complicity in Tigray genocide

Zemenu Yesigat, a lawyer by training and a graduate from Dire Dawa University’s law school in Ethiopia, spent much of the 2020-2022 genocide period in Ethiopia mocking Tigrayan victims of famine and war crimes. Despite being a lawyer with a supposed expert understanding of human rights and international law, Zemenu was among the members of Ethiopia’s academic elite who used their social media following to spread hate speech, incite violence and deny war crimes. Besides denying the genocide and famine, he spread violent misinformation about displaced Tigrayan civilians, the sort that led to real life attacks and mob killings of displaced Tigrayans across Ethiopia.
During the genocide of 2020-2022, where estimates for Tigrayan deaths as a result of massacres and denial of aid may be as high as 600,000, one would expect the academic elite and in particular lawyers, to speak up on behalf of victims of state violence.
Zemenu Yesigat has a number of scholarly publications in prominent journals such as the Beijing Law Review. But on Twitter, in August 2021 (at the height of the suffering in Tigray) he stated that hearing reports of famine and genocide would make him “happy” because “that’s how I know the Ethiopian and Amhara forces are kicking their nasty asses."
By this time, the participation of Amhara regional forces and Ethiopian soldiers in systemic gang rapes and genocidal violence targeting Tigrayans was making headlines.
Ethiopia massacred civilians with drones but Zemenu Yesigat had no problems with that saying that it was better for drone to continue the war instead of soldiers. He only cared about armed troops and not the civilians being massacred.
He spread misinformation about Tigrayan displaced refugees, claiming that they were robbing towns in their host regions, and siding with the rebels. Misinformation like this led to mob killings of Tigrayan civilians who had fled to the Amhara and Afar regions.
Insults and slurs targeting victims were common. He stated that if life with Tigrayans would continue, they would have to be kept in cages like animals. But his account was never deleted and he kept spreading hate speech throughout the killings. But his activity on Twitter would have been far worse. He admitted this himself in December 2021 when he tweeted that “the reason why I don’t express some of my thoughts is because I don’t want them to suspend my Twitter account. That’s how much hatred and anger I have.”
There is nothing new about this. The hatred that well educated people like Zemenu Yesigat had for Tigrayan civilians was weaponized by the Ethopian government. The academic elite sided with genocidal forces and used their expertise to harm civilians, assist war criminals and facilitate killings of half a million people in Tigray. Zemenu Yesigat is just one of many, many fascists whose education went to waste.

Dr. Tedla Woldeyohannes | hate speech | dehumanization | Huntington University (Arizona, Indiana) | Academic elite complicity in Tigray genocide
During the 2020 – 2022 genocide of Tigrayans, many Ethiopian scholars helped spread hate speech and justification for atrocities that killed 600,000 people in Tigray. Tedla Woldeyohannes, a professor in Philosophy at a Christian University, was known for using Christianity and Philosophy to justify massacres and promote hate speech. His social media activity in Amharic was full of hate speech (swipe the pics to view samples), but it was an English tweet in December 2021 that led to him receiving a warning from Huntington University. In the tweet, where he referred to TDF operations in Afar and Amhara, he used dehumanizing language to refer to Tigrayans, saying that “Homo-devil is a new species of humans mostly found in Tigray.” The genocidal rhetoric is without a doubt the sort that led to massacres, famine and a humanitarian blockade being supported by Ethiopian nationalists like Dr. Tedla.
Following the warning from his university, Dr. Tedla Woldeyohannes toned down his rhetoric, fearing for his job. It is essential to understand that dehumanization and hate speech of endangered populations are essential during a genocide. Dr. Tedla’s hatred facilitated bloodshed, and despite being well educated and living in the safety of the United States, he didn’t use his expertise and platform to call for calm. Rather he used it to unleash violence and hatred against an endangered ethnic minority in his home country.
Here is a link to the archived tweet.
A link to his Huntington University profile. Dr. Tedla Woldeyohannes is another example of how the educated elite failed society and sided with mass murderers.
