I'm afraid, sometimes, and that's alright.

  Its true though, some days I'm terrified of who I am and what I'll become. I have several things about me, mental things, that terrify me to my core.
  I have, since as far back as I can remember, have had troubles with dissociation. It's like your here, or there, but then your here and there and everywhere. It's hard to focus on what's really there. Everything is still there, but their just...not? I've always had a god awful time trying to explain it.
 Then I have post traumatic stress disorder, and I know. I know. I'm 'one of those' people. Trust me, if I could wish it away I would but, fuck, I can't. I'm bringing it up for a reason.
 See, the way I handle these two things, and other conditions, is I help people.
 I have an overwhelming love for others that I can't explain. I just see people and I'm in awe with everything about them. With their impossible presence in the universe. With how much they can accomplish. With how majestic they truly are in a sea of chaos. Their decisions. Their hopes. Their dreams. I love them all.
 I look to people and I know, that with my two heavy, scared, hands I can do something good for them. I can lift them up, because it has not and will never bring me down to do so.  It helps calm me.
 Yet, I am afraid and that is alright.

 I often wonder if these things in my head will get the best of me. I am concerned that maybe, as I get older, I lose who I am.
  Will I forget to hold people high? Will I forget to tell them that they can be heroes? Will I forget to say "You can be the impossible"? Will I forget to smile? And laugh? Cry? That I am not, and have never been alone? The majesty of them all? The wonder of their souls? Will I forget it all?
These thoughts terrify me, to my very core, and that is my very precious secret.

Yet another update for that NitW card game.

I’ve got some more work done for the card game that I’m now calling ‘NitW: The Pale Knights’ based off the mini-game DemonTower from the game Night In the Woods.
I don’t think it needs to be said, but just in case, this is NOT an official game by any means. I’m just a fan who likes to make card/board games and wants to support the community in their own way.
 Alright, let’s get into it. Remember this game is VERY ALPHA!  I started off this time by taking a moment to consider how the characters would move. This was a very simple thing to handle, they move. That’s it. However, it’s to be considered HOW MUCH a character moves as the overall problem. If a character can move to much, what will stop them from running around, grabbing the key, and heading directly for the door, which is something you can do in the game. Albeit, there will be monsters you have to avoid along the way.  In the best interest of the other players, as well as the fact this is a card game, I have to cap the amount a character can move about.  The cap is 1, that is to say, a player will be able to move their character from one

room to an adjacent room during their turn.

 Two things here;  1) sorry for my shitty photography skills and  2) the sticky notes are just stand in for the cards while I work out the mechanics. Though if you want to see what they’ll kinda look like when I’m done, it’ll be something like this.

So after deciding on how the characters will move, I needed to tackle how the rooms will be randomized as well as the creatures.
 I think I got something for this so follow along with me as I try to explain.
 When a character moves from one room to an empty space, that room will be drawn from a deck of shuffled cards. This is to give the effect of a system made so the rooms are never the same.  On each of the cards there is going to be a way to randomly decide on how many hearts are there, to replicate the health regen, and how many enemies are there, to replicate the health loss.
 So to explain it differently as an example;  Player one (green) moves to a empty space and reveals the top card of the room deck (placeholder for the decks name). The card tells that player to roll a 1d6 for health, 1d6 for the monsters, and to follow the results. (This card is Random Room 1 as seen in the picture above.) The result in this instance, lets say, are 1 heart and 2 monsters.

 As of this current moment, I’ve not implemented anything to decide on the different forms of monsters found in the game, however I do have an idea and I’ll let you know more about that tomorrow as I do some research and throw together mechanics.
 However, the key point here is, I now have the mechanics in place to create a completely random setup with the rooms every time you and your friends sit down to play a quick level.
 OH! As a side note, I plan on making this game very easy to pick up and continue later. More details on that later.
 Now that is solved, we can push it all away for a moment and talk about something else. Combat. A key component to the game. Tomorrow.  This is becoming kinda lengthy and I don’t want to bore everyone to bad right away. So I’ll see you all tomorrow with a fresh page of mechanics and monsters.

Update on that NitW card game I’m working on.

Well, I know this may seem like nonsense at first, but let me try to explain as I go. This game is VERY pre-alpha, but good news; I’ve already got some interested parties in helping me design the art for the cards. So there’s that.
 Also before starting, I don’t think it’s needed but minor spoilers possibly for the DemonTower mini game. I’m only really talking about the very first level.
Currently, what I’m looking at is trying to bring the mini-game called Demontower to a card based format, with the addition of making the game 1-4 players.  So the very first thing I did was play the first level of the mini-game about 20 or so times by quitting and starting over. (Could have been less, I honestly wasn’t counting.)
The things I noticed was this:
There is always a middle starting terrain the pale one starts on.
The character only has three mechanics to them, which is; attacking, moving, health lose and heath regeneration.
The 8 ‘edge terrain’, as I’m calling the floors surrounding the starting area, were mostly always random (with a few exceptions).
The monsters were also randomized.
 So, taking this information I first made the character cards. You could have possibly seen them already in a separate post I made yesterday.

 They are the standard card size you’ll see in almost every tcg. So they’ll fit in any standard sleeve. Like these;

  I only made 4 for the moment because I’m targeting a 1-4 player experience. Any more and I risk causing the game to be harder to balance later down the road.  However, making the ability to add another player down the road won’t be impossible, so we’ll see what happens near the end of this project.  For now lets talk about the character cards.
 We see here that the characters each have 9 hearts on their cards. This is to mimic the nine health the Pale One has during the very first level. These hearts will serve as our health lose and regeneration mechanic.  There is a 1 beside a sword icon. This is to represent the attack of the character. When playing the mini-game, I noticed the Pale One had a ‘two-swift-strikes’ mechanic, then they would be tired for a split second. While it isn’t a 2 attack like the Pale One, it’ll serve as a stand in for now until I can start working on the monsters for the game.  Lastly but not least, we have a 1 beside a diamond icon. The Pale One in the mini-game doesn’t have a block feature, just a Dash>Move mechanic. You can dash away or to enemies depending on your play style. This icon here will represent that.
 That’s enough gabbin for me tonight. I’ve been putting in a lot of thought into what I want out of this game and what I’ve come up with is my overall goal for the players.  This will be a game that can be fast, but fun. Simple, but memorable. I like to believe Night in the Woods was the same for me and I hope that I do the game and its creators justice with this fan made project.
 Anyways, more to come in the very near future.

 Because I was up till about 5am this morning obsessing over it in passing. Seriously. I almost started writing mechanics all over the walls (that’s a thing I do sometimes.) Well, here’s the early glimpses of that.  Give me about a week and a half, maybe two, and I’ll have a more solid game for you to gander at.

Let’s Talk Ruby Rose, RWBY: The Grimm Hunts
Heya tumblr, as a few of you know I’ve been working on a card game called RWBY: The Grimm Hunts. I’ve been mostly posting my stuff in the Amino Communities, and I should probably start sharing it all around. This is a segment I started about a week ago and it was received very well.
I thought I'd like to start a new segment for everyone talking about the characters I made for RWBY: The Grimm Hunts and how they work, as well as where I got the inspiration for their stats, abilities, and cards. Today I'd like to talk about Ruby Rose. This Ruby is based off seasons 1-3 as that's when I started creating this game.

First off, let's talk about her character card and her stats, as this is the core of the character:
MV (Move) 7
HP (Hit Point) 4
CA (Close Attack) 5
RA (Ranged Attack) 5
TR  (Target Range) +4
CD (Close Defense) 4
RD (Ranged Defense) 4
Keep in mind that everything is based on a 1-10 system, except for target range which is 1-5. The higher a stat, the better it is. *) Her move is fairly high, being 7 out of 10, and I bet you can guess why. I think everyone can agree Ruby Rose is a fast character, who uses her speed and agility all the time. Obviously I had to reflect this as her best stat. *)  Her Hit Points are at a 4. As I watched her through the episodes, i noticed that once she losses the ability to defend herself, she's easily defeated. A lot of this happens when she loses her weapon, but my point remains. *) Her Close Attack and Range Attack are both sitting at 5. As she's really well balanced between the two. *)  Target range talks about how far a character can attack others and use their cards to target. Being one of the few sniper characters, hers is set to +4! She's got a long command over the battlefield. *) Close Defense and Ranged Defense are both sitting at 4, for the same reasons as above. She's very much a glass cannon. Now that we talked about her stats, let's talk about her ability:
"Action - Once during your turn, before Ruby has been activated, you can lower Ruby’s MV or RA by 3 to raise her MV or RA by 3. This cannot lower her stat values below 0 or above 10”
So, to explain further, she can reduce her move  from 7 to 4, to increase her ranged attack from 5 to 8.   Likewise you can lower her ranged attack from  5 to 2, to increase her move from 7 to 10. I designed her ability with her skills as a scout in mind. While, yes, she could be clarified a sniper, she acts like a close quarters to mid-ranged scout.

Phew, now that's over, let's talk about her cards and how they work.
“Crescent Rose launch” "Action - Increase Ruby's move by 3 until the end of the turn."
It's the speed boost she gains from her Crescent Rose. It can add to her speed, which will benefit her cards as well.

"Too fast to hit" "Reaction - You can play this card immediately after Ruby attacks a target, after damage is dealt. Spend the rest of Ruby’s MV."
When a character attacks, after damage is resolved, their committed to the fight. Meaning they can't move, play cards, or attack again. This card means after Ruby has attacked someone, she can still move. It doesn't matter if it's close or ranged.

"Pin them down” "Action - Pick a target terrain. Until the beginning of Ruby’s next turn all opposing targets in that terrain have -1 RA and -2 MV. Ruby is rooted.” Some control for Ruby Rose. When Ruby's not a part of the battle, she often resorts to providing cover fire. This can be seen in a few episodes and even in the latest volume. This is also a real life tactic soldiers provide. Firing at enemies to provide cover for their allies.

"Watchful Leader" "Reaction - You can play this card when another allied character comes under attack within Ruby's target range, before damage is dealt. During your opponent’s turn that character gains Ruby's RA as a CD bonus. Decrease Ruby's CD and RD by 2 until the beginning of her next turn. Ruby cannot be activated this turn." This give Ruby something of a quick save, allowing her to add her Ranged Attack to the Close Defense of another character. This can be the set up for some crazy counter attacks, even providing a save from another counter attack.

“Crescent Rose Blitz" "Reaction - You can play this card immediately after Ruby attacks a character in the same terrain. Ruby gains +1 to her close attack for every terrain space in a straight line from the target she entered. After damage is calculated, her attack returns to normal." This is the big charge, combined with her ability, Crescent Rose Launch, and any other movement she may get from other characters, this could be THE charge to win your team the game.

Rwby: The Grimm Hunts, February update vol. 1
Hey everyone, it's the first Saturday of the month and I've got a lot to talk about for the game. If you feel like supporting the game, just take this and share it with whomever you wish.
Here's a short list of everything I've been working on, that have come out.

Summary:
2 new characters - Roman Torchwick & Cinder Falls!
New Hunt - Stop That Train!
New npcs - White Fang/ Grunts
New Terrains - White Fang / Camps - Grimm / Ruins - Cluster / Village
Added in a ‘Wear and tear’ rule - Defense reduction after being attacked multiple times.
Added in the term ‘Terrain Edges’ - This will better help explain a few mechanics.
What you can expect next week: I’m going to introduce a smaller ‘boss battle’ type of hunt so I can spare time to revise the rule book to explain the game better.

New Hunt - Stop That Train!
For my fellow Rooster Teeth fans, you may know when the Achievement Hunter group tried, and ultimately failed, to stop the train in GTA V. As a fan myself, I figured this would be a good way to give a nod to what may be my most favorite let's play they've done.
It's your job to stop that train after the White Fang sabotaged it. There are multiple different ways to do so, from using the bodies of the Grimm, stealing supplies from White Fang, or gaining aid from the villages nearby!
New NPC’s - White Fang / Grunts!
New enemies that specialize in long range attacks.
New Terrains
White Fang / Camp
“Camping is a viable and legit strategy!” White fang campers are stronger here and are provided with long range benefits.
Grimm / Ruins
A terrain dedicated to the Grimm, ruins spread their territory.
Cluster / Village
Not everything in the world is trying to end your career as a hunter. Head towards the local villages for some much needed rest.

Roses are Red
and I made a post on Roosterteeth.com about that Rwby: The Grimm Hunts.
It was a long time coming but I’m finally getting to the point where I feel comfortable posting this stuff up on their forums. You can see that right here: http://roosterteeth.com/forum/board-games-%26-tabletop-games/topic/3294083
 Anyways, the game is playable now for PvP and I’m going to have a hunt, which is PvE, up this saturday with -hopefully- two other characters. Salutations!
Good news everyone! I’ll be back to post more self made games this Friday, when I plan on posting every consecutive Friday and Tuesday unless something bad happens.
Firstly though, allow me to apologize a little. I’ve been putting off getting on Tumblr (and other social media sites) due to a lack of will to speak to others. Admittedly this is because the final months of my grandmother are upon me and the rest of the family. It is hitting all of us very hard.
Regardless, this is not an excuse. My grandmother has always been a very diligent woman, one who has worked hard her entire life, through the loss of her children, and much more. She would not want me to sit idly by and waste a day without being productive, for this does not make me happy. If she ever told me to do anything, she told me to do the things that make me happy.
Making games makes me happy, so I’m back and, hey, I can’t wait to see you all at the gaming table.

Very proud of myself. I got to work on a card for bronycon. Mind you, all I did was hash out ideas and give pros/cons. It did, however, matter enough to influence the card that's being sold to thousands. This is proof that my hard work means something to someone, somewhere. This card will be played by somebody and that's enough for me.
