You can help the homeless without internet validation. You can give your grandma a meaningful gift without recording her at an emotionally charged moment. Not every aspect of your and other's personal lives must be posted on the internet.

Tangentially related to my last reblog, men having preferences is not inherently fragile masculinity. I don't like to paint my nails, or wear dresses, or skirts, or anything frilly or feminine. This isn't a moral failing of me as a man to not adopt gender nonconformity, nor is that the case for any other man, cis or trans. And I'm just talking about fashion here, not even to mention the gross attitude people have towards what sexual acts men do/don't participate in. There is a difference between societal expectations vs the conscious choices of an individual, and the latter should never be disrespected. Violating people's bodily autonomy doesn't suddenly become progressive under the guise of #girlpower

the fact that chickens, who produce eggs for families and are fairly low-cost pets after initial expenses, are not allowed in many areas due to noise but dogs, who are considerably noisier and considerably more a risk to people are, is kind of ridiculous

My mother asked me how long ago we carved this pumpkin and I suddenly realized that we’ve had this horrible nasty old shriveled up mummified jack-o-lantern hanging off the side of our house for at LEAST five years and now we’re emotionally attached to it.

Don’t mix these two up! Anything you bring into a national park, you must pack out or dispose of in a proper trash receptacle. Do not hit golf balls into canyons and valleys, do not leave used diapers on the sides of trails, do not toss your apple core because you think it’s natural. National parks have been called America’s best idea. Don’t treat them like a garbage can.
