I had the same issue with Frosty, so I'm going to try and coherently explain what worked and hope that it helps.

In regards to the EA app, the first thing I needed to do was clear my cache. I don't know if that actually helped or not, but I did do it, and the game does work, so I'll include it in my instructions.

Next I had to make Frosty launch through the EA app instead of origins. I had to do a bunch of restarting Frosty to make the option appear, it was a nightmare, but eventually it showed up. Tools → Options → Launch Options → Enable platform launching. Then select EA and save. After this, I'd recommend closing and reopening Frosty, since the app mentions you may have to restart to see changes.

From here, always run Frosty as administrator. Get the mods you want. Open DAI directly without mods once, then close and reopen through Frosty. I don't know if running it without mods first actually helps or not, but again, I did it, and again, it works now. Some of these steps could be completely unnecessary, but since I don't know what helped, I have to add everything.

Side note: I have version 1.0.6.3, if that's relevant

When launching through Frosty please know it's going to take forever for the game to start. That's normal. I kept getting frustrated and thinking it wasn't working after 30 seconds and closing everything to retry. Don't do that. I would give it a minute or so to have a chance.

When the game is launching through EA, chances are steam will also open to ask for permission to run your mods. Select yes. Hopefully this works! I'll also link the video I followed.
