Hey. Your brain needs to de-frag. Literally it needs you to sit there and space out.
If you want your memory or executive function to improve, stare out a window at the skyline or sidewalk or trees or birds on the electrical wires for like 20+ minutes per day. (With no other stimulation like a podcast or TV if you can manage but hey baby steps innit). If you're fortunate enough to have safe outside with any bits of nature, go stare closely at a 1 meter square of grass and trip out on the bugs and shapes of grasses and stuff.
Literally this will make you smarter. Our brains HAVE TO HAVE this zone out time to do important stuff behind the scenes. This does not happen during sleep, it's something else.
That weird pressurized feeling you get sometimes might be your brain on no defrag.
Give your brain a Daily Dose Of De-Frag.

I have trouble taking care of my teeth because everything that involves doing that is a sensory nightmare. I decide to do some research to see if there's anything I can do about this. The results?
"How to make your autistic child brush their teeth"
"Autistic Children and Sensory issues relating to tooth brushing"
"How to get your little shit to brush his fucking teeth"
Like, yeah Google, thanks, that really helps. And like, even if I was a child, some of the advice seemed... unhelpful. Like, doing a dance and singing a song while brushing your teeth? Even for a kid, I don't think that would help distract from a sensory experience as intense as brushing your teeth. Like, the extremely intense and unpleasant flavor, the intense feeling of the brush against your teeth scraping across it, even mouthwash has such an intense and disgusting flavor that I have difficulty keeping it in my mouth for more than a few seconds. I wish there was SOMETHING that could be done.

The female tendency towards the "I can fix him" mentality isn't actually a fault, but rather a misguided perfection. It is in the better nature of women to bring out the best in others, to inspire masculinity in their husbands, to cultivate virtue in their children, and encourage those who look to them spiritually as mothers or sisters in Christ. The tendency only becomes dangerous and misguided when there is a lack of wisdom and humility. Wisdom to understand when a situation is harmful or futile, and humility to realize that, while you may help, it's not within your power to fix anyone. Ultimately, that's between God and the individual.

The thing you have to remember about PTSD is that it's never just the traumatic event. Everyone across their lifetime will experience some degree of trauma. What makes someone susceptible to PTSD is the inability to connect with a support network and community about the trauma. Shame and isolation are as crucial to the formation of PTSD as the initial traumas. Talk to anyone with PTSD and one of the first things they'll do is downplay their trauma and emphasize how much worse it could have been. This is the shame speaking, an internalized shame from the idea their community expected them to be better, be stronger, be less vulnerable. This shame, ironically, is the same thing that prevented the individual from asking or receiving the support they needed in the wake of trauma that resulted in the formation of PTSD, and what has to be targeted in order for the individual to process the unresolved trauma now encapsulated by shame.

yknow theres a lot of pressure to be successful, particularly on artsy kids whose professions are seen as useless unless theyre famous, but life is fucking hard and sometimes things dont turn out
but i think thats not bad. my dad has wanted to be a musician forever, and hes rly pretty good. but then he joined the military to get away from an abusive family, and then he got married, and then he got divorced, and a lot of horrible shit HAPPENED. he has ptsd and severe anxiety and he could never really get back on the horse. and he never made it as a musician, and now hes 53
but i grew up in a house full of instruments, and he can play all of them, and some of my earliest memories are of him playing guitar on the front porch and me thinking there wasnt a better musician in the world. so. even if you dont get to the stars, exactly, what you do isnt worthless. its not a waste of time if life is difficult and you cant make it, or if you arent famous, or if your work doesnβt influence thousands of people. it will influence someone
there are a million ways to be happy and a million ways to be a successful artist. we create what we do to enhance the human experience and relate to each other and improve ourselves. theres something to be said for just doing that,,,for the sake of doing it, yknow

i dont consider myself a 'fashion guru' by any means but one thing i will say is guys you dont need to know the specific brand an item you like is - you need to know what the item is called. very rarely does a brand matter, but knowing that pair of pants is called 'cargo' vs 'boot cut' or the names of dress styles is going to help you find clothes you like WAAAYYYY faster than brand shopping

My pediatrist ordered me to βaggressively stretchβ my hamstrings and calves (meaning to do safe stretches 3-4 times a day) and less than a week later I canβt touch my toes yet but I can already reach like 3 inches lower on my leg. Itβs almost like stretching actually does something when you remember to do it. Weird.
