I'm gonna say this in the calmest way possible: I LOVE MATT ELLIOTT I LUVE EM I LOVE LOVE HIS MUSIC HRHHRHHHHHHH GRASSAAAAAAHHHHhahahhhhh ALL OF THEM!! "PREPARE FOR DISSAPPOINTMENT! WHATS WRONG! THE DAY AFTER THAT!!" He's definitely among my top favorite artists, and I don't really know what genre of music his is considered(folk?), but it's easily my favorite.

My favorite song from Matt Elliott? "I Only Wanted to Give You Everything" please... easily in my top 5 favorite songs of ALL TIME. Seriously. Literally this 🤏 close to making it about hedgehogs. Like, dangerously close.

If you've heard of The Dead Brothers, they remind me of Matt Elliott a tad bit, too. From them, I'm a huge fan of "I Am All I Got," "Diamond Mind," and "The Power a Secret Holds;" songs that I also managed to make about Shadow in my twisted mind. So good... embracing my love for alternative folk music these days..

The reason why there's a white baby fuzz Shadow there holding current Shadow's hand is because it went with my headcannon from that one post I did where he originally had that coat color before he was injected with Black Doom's DNA. (VERY briefly, though)

A homage to what he could've been without the impurity that attached itself to him, the alien dna. Which is ironic in a sense, as Shadow is who he is as an indirect result of Doom's influence.

I really liked a comment on that previous post about the headcannon that said something akin to how his white fur that was left over represented the only place Black Doom failed to corrupt: his heart. Like YES!!! PREACH!!!

And, he has all this chaos energy and some kind of alien power that has dangerous consequences if not kept in check (he didn't know this he was like...10 minutes old) Gerald, of course, was aware of this about Shadow, but paid no mind to warn the hedgehog of his capabilities, as he was sure he had the means to control such a consequence. A fatal flaw of his part. So maybe he had crafted the inhibitor rings beforehand but kept them as a failsafe of sorts.

I imagine that Maria was looking to spend time with newly-released Shadow on a regular morning where she was feeling better, show him some of her favourite songs, or create fun mischief around their space-home, but oddly couldn't find him anywhere. Gerald was probably off doing further research for how to link Shadow to Maria's illness. She found herself peeking into an old storage room where the lights were off, and the door slightly pushed open as if someone had entered but not returned. And then... there's a horrifying and mutated elderich horror in the corner that's growling in pain. It's Shadow, and Maria knew that despite the melting and mutating figure in front of her appearing nothing like a small hedgehog. Because, despite the horrid and dark goup, deep down, it was still Shadow.

She was awfully calm about the entire encounter, too, and managed to get Shadow the help he needed to come back to his hedgehog form. I feel like this says alot about their closeness and relationship, because I bet if a rookie, overworked, below minimum wage employee and scientist walked in on mandela catalog Shadow like that, they would've screamed, peed their pants, and run away. They are NOT getting paid enough for this. (Unless they're used to stuff like that, but idk I'm not a scientist on the ARK guys). Just my thought dump herherher

You're on to something! That, I feel, would probably affect his character a pretty hefty amount. It would almost be like she never passed on? Maybe Shadow would be in a bit of denial at first, then slowly accept that she was actually there to stay, or possibly Maria had some kind of unfinished business, or even just wanted to make sure he didn't become misguided when it counted. But I don't know how easy it would be to interact with a ghost. It might hurt Shadow a little more than it should, given he can no longer hold her hands, or dance to their favorite songs, or do possibly anything that they used to back on the ARK. So it would probably be pretty bittersweet for the two :'( Hopefully this makes sense!

Hmmm.... if Shadow had a force ghost Maria situation, I believe it could go two ways. If it was a situation where she would constantly appear in the corner of his eye, follow him around wherever he goes and dissapear the moment he'd try to engage, more like a poltergeist? Nah. Probably going to torment him and remind him of what he failed to do all those years ago. But! If he could talk and communicate with Maria's ghost (similar to how certain individuals could interact with force ghosts and have enlightening convos with them like star wars which is what I'm assuming the force ghost concept comes from lololol) maybe Maria could help bring some sort of closure to himself, guide him to the understanding that what happened on the ARK wasn't his fault and out of his control. Navigate him to the right path. Give him that reassurance that she is okay and Shadow can move on, and make his actions guided under his own discretion. Not that they aren't, Shadow's actions are done based on what he thinks is the best course of action in any given situation. Yet, bro def has some kind of survivors guilt, which is why he's so hard on himself and why many of his actions are done to follow what he believed Maria told/encouraged him to do before she passed on (make people happy!). So yeah, I think he could be better off if he had one last heartfelt conversation with his ARK sister, to remove some of that weight on his shoulders. But it should be left at that, because if he constantly had the ability to engage with her ghost, he may start dwelling too much in the past again, thinking too much about what could've been, rather than embracing what is. So yes! I think a Maria force ghost could leave Shadow well off if he takes away from their theoretical interactions that Maria isn't suffering, and that there is no need to dwell on the past anymore. As long as Shadow can understand that, he should be okay.

Actually... it's so coincidental that you brought up a Maria and Shadow ghost situation because there literally is a finished drawing of that sitting in my gallery currently from, like, a month and a half ago!!! I kept looking at it and going: "Theres still things I have to add before it's done" but.. I haven't added anything :') the artist dilemma... So yep! it's all done! Gonna polish it up and post it here, hopefully in the next few days, huhauhauhaha!!!!! 😈😈
