Tom's beauty is the one thing Harry can actually successfully ignore.

After travelling back in time Harry struggles to act normal around Tom, often lashing out and throwing hexes whenever he can.

It was easy enough to hate him - with all of Harry's old memories being about how Tom made his life Hell and tried to kill him multiple times.

It wasn't until they were the last in the common room that Tom had struck back for once. He had Harry with his back against the floor in an instant. Stradling his hips so he couldn't move.

"What exactly is your problem with me?" He'd asked in a hushed and angry voice.

It was only then with Tom's wand to his neck and his face so close to his, that Harry had realised the beauty Tom held.

And God was he beautiful.

i don't think people understand how hard it is not to ship tomarry / harrymort because what do you mean they're borderline canonically soulmates. what do you mean they're PROPHESIED to each other. what do you mean they're literal parallels, had the same childhood circumstances but turned out the exact opposite. what do you mean harry's the embodiment of the light side and tom's the embodiment of the dark even though they're so, so similar. what do you mean they both have common names even though they themselves are anything but common. what do you mean they have uncountable amount of bible references that apply strictly to them, what do you mean harry makes sure to mention tom's the handsomest in the room whenever he sees him and apparently likes their connection. what do you mean their wands share the core of the same phoenix and therefore literally can't kill each other even if they wanted to. what do you mean harry wanted to gave him another chance despite everything he's done, what do you mean tom offered him his hand, what do you mean harry killed tom at the same age except the order of the numbers is reversed. what do you mean harry's eyes are the same colour as tom's favourite unforgivable (avada) AND the colour of his house, what do you mean TOM'S eyes are the colour of harry's favourite defence spell (expelliarmus) and the colour of his house. WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY ARE EACH OTHER'S OTHER HALF. WHAT DO YOU MEAN HARRY IS LITERALLY TOM'S SOUL??? 😭

Ok, but listen. Harry goes back in time and decides to get rid of Tom Riddle AU, but the sorting hat goes like ??? when it reads Harry's mind. Idk it just irks me how the sorting hat is so understanding in most time travel fics, at best it puts Harry in a house he didn't want to be. But just imagine if it actually tells on Harry, full great hall drama with the hat going like "HE'S HERE TO MURDER SOMEONE"

And ofc Tom is instantly obsessed with the murder boy.

Harry And His Ghost

Harry didn't know when the line between him and the shadow of the man who killed his parents had blurred.

He didn't notice how they danced so dangerously along the tight rope of sane and insane, good and evil.

He didn't think twice when the hand on his shoulder turned into kisses on his neck. Rough and desperate, always a lingering feeling of needing more.

He hadn't flinched when Tom raised his hand to caress Harry's cheek - no, instead he leaned into it. Finding safety and comfort in his ghost.

And sure, there was some part of him that ached. That wanted his parents to see him. To love him.

But Tom was enough for now forever, he was enough.

“this one?” tom asks quietly, raising his hand towards the lightning scar on harry's forehead, as he had done with all of harry's scars he couldn't help but ask after. harry flinched when he saw tom's hand coming towards his face, remembering the first time that tom had touched his scar. tom dropped his hand after seeing harry's reaction, and harry suddenly had a hard time reading his expression. he reached out for tom's hand and brought it back up to his face, encouraging the touch. immediately tom was tracing the fractal pattern with the tip of his finger. “you.”
