As someone who was raised mormon and does not currently give the mormon church any money I feel the need to emphasize a few points.
The mormons are harvesting data about dead people for genealogy purposes. There isn't data on the living unless a living person puts in information about a direct ancestor or direct descendent. There are many similar genealogy websites.
Mormons don't baptize living people by proxy through information on familysearch.org
The dead person isn't baptized until their soul accepts the baptism. Baptizing a dead person by proxy is like asking if they want to be baptized. They can say yes or no. In other words the dead person isn't actually baptized after the proxy baptism until the dead person gives consent.
Dead people and living people can be whatever religion they want.
