ANYWHIZZLE hurt/comfort time! Leo finally gets a hug and it's from an unexpected source! What's that in the corner? It's Donnie with a (steel chair) hug!!! And Leo finally gets to break down a bit! Yippee! Does he immediately regret it?! Yes!!! Oh no, he's still riddled with self-doubt and deprecation!!

I have a sequel to this that might be posted.... Eventually. But that one is pretty angsty and would you believe it's even more text heavy. I have an excuse though!! I started as a fanfic writer and then moved to comics! 🥹 I like wordsssss. Also I'm not sure how to end the sequel sooooo rip me I guess

Realized I hadn’t done my weekly fic update check this past Saturday and as usual I already some updates from a couple weeks ago all the way to a couple years ago but I’ve glitch stopped checking LFLS because I knew EG meant they were still working on it and totally understand the author struggle like that. I actually think I have a fic that’s probably been left for like a year and a half now that I’m finally hoping to get to next week over spring break which I never took my eye off of

ANYWAY, I’ve been saying once it’s updated I was gonna go back and reread the whole thing again for the second time so now I’ve got my next fic queued up just after I read till the latest chapter of the last 😌 (btw you all need to go check out Reciprocity I’m so serious it’s one of the best fics I’ve read and should be placed up there with the other absolute greats especially since it’s only one of two mutant mayhem fics I’ve ever found it has 19 amazing chapters done and that’s only the first act I’m still serious yall click on the link 👇🏽) But yeah, after that juicy cliffhanger I can’t wait to see what comes next. Even if this could be an update not followed up on for a while I’m so hype. This story is definitely worth the wait 👌🏽

Oof this hurts me. I’ve really noticed lately how much more Leo really was acting like a kid in the first season and somewhat the second too, but as he keeps shouldering more and more responsibility that all goes away. And Raph gets better too but I never really made the connection how they really do have this deal going on 😞 😭

An ironic thing about of the 2012 TMNT series is that as the show goes on, Raph opens up more while Leo shuts down more.

A bit like this:

Leo liked to annoy him much more in the earlier seasons. Then things got a bit too intense especially post season 2.

But Raph? Raph started out stubborn and guarded, but grew to be more soft and just overall more affectionate with his brothers.

The shot of him crying so hard and then pushing it down like he’s been trained as a soldier in order to prioritize the mission so he can bring himself to do it and then his face just breaks all over again because this isn’t something can just easily push down gets me every time. It’s just such great attention to detail. They could’ve had him just crying while trying to bring himself to close the portal but by have that “suck it up” stony face moment they showed his past of always being in a war for his whole life, yet even after all those years it means nothing when he’s not only losing his dad all over again, but sentencing him to be stuck alone with the Kraang forever. Respect to this damn movie

How brutal. How devastating. How utterly tragic it is that the only way to honor his Sensei's last wish is by sentencing him to death again.

Casey wouldn't do it if it didn't mean saving the world. But both times, Leo has left him no choice but to give him up.

once again thinking about how much I love characters who create masks for themselves.

characters who are so utterly convinced that their true selves are unlovable or not worth it that they overcompensate with confidence, or suaveness, or just unbridled positivity that shines so bright no one can see the rot and sadness underneath until it's almost too late.

Who's just all smoke and mirrors, only letting the occasional bit of reality slip through before distracting the crowd too quickly for them to process it.

love me a dude(gn) that casually shrugs off every offer of a helping hand because they are so utterly convinced they aren't worth anything if they can't make it on their own.

I adore a character that have never fully shown themselves to anyone and never plan to (or have once and that's why they never want to again), regardless of the fact that their friends and family would only love them more if they did, and would be thrilled to help them if they just gave their loved ones half a chance.

and I am always thrilled when that character just fully breaks.

does anyone else think about how donnie genuinely seems to enjoy fighting and how his original plan in the hidden city episodes was to go to the battle nexus or is that just me. because i think about that a lot.

Can’t believe the rise movie, mutant mayhem and the tottmnt all nearly have the same anniversary. Was busting thinking about how around the exact same time last year I was watching MM in theaters and now I’m realizing two years ago it was also the Rise movie. August is really starting to become the TMNT nostalgia month 😌

Happy Birthday to the Rise movie, 2 whole years, man how time truly flies.

If you'd told me 2 years ago that I would still be knee deep in the trenches of an intense hyper-fixation of TMNT of all things, I highly doubt I would have believed you.

Yet here we are, my best friend had decided that "hey, you'll probably like this show I've been watching..." from there the rest is history. Every so often you come across a piece of art or media that just lights a creative fire inside of you that refuses to be ignored. The Rise series as a whole has been responsible for inspiring so much growth in my art, whether that be more techniques to push pose designs even further, become more daring with composition and finally, finally have human anatomy studies make sense.

I've also met some truly wonderful people thanks to the Rise fandom, I've not been bold enough to reach out to artists/writers I admire in the past but after taking the plunge and becoming apart of some community servers I've been lucky enough to forge some special friendships with some truly wonderful people. (Y'all know who you are and I love you so so SO much.)

Happy Birthday to a movie and by extension series that continues to inspire me with its incredible directing, genuinely hilarious writing and warm, tender heart.

Keep writing, drawing, painting, posting and talking about this truly special little series and maybe one day we'll see get to see it light up our screens again.
