So…Toya is rich right?

yeah he's pretty well off (inferential)

the exact financial status of his family is not known, his father is pretty world wide famous, even mentioned the in haven side story so hopefully that is a testament to his status in general -- shuuji mentioned that the news of harumichi coming overseas was so widespread many musicians crowded around the hotel harumichi's family was staying at.

(if i remember correctly even kanade knows who harumichi is so he isn't just a random musician either within japan)

his family's general wealth can also be revealed from their interior. toya mentions that a lot of their furniture is based off european/ western themes since his parents did spend a lot of time in europe

the furniture in his house below are pretty fancy; white furniture is also usually a sign of wealth (because there's a luxury feel to it, and there's maintenance costs to make it look good) large spaces are also a sign of wealth, as toya's room is pretty open with its own space for a lounge setup.

anyways i've also once mentioned toya very possibly owns a $12000 chair in his room (you can view the post here but its more of a shitpost)

both of toya's brothers study overseas (whether under scholarship i'm not sure but regardless you need a ton of money)

toya also mentioned he originally was supposed to go to a private school/ private music school instead of kamikou (he used tsukasa as a reason to persuade his father to go to kamikou). in his wl2 story, toya's mother was the one who sent him overseas to study and to live with his brother so he could be in a less stressful environment. in those aspects yes they definitely have the money.

this post became more random ramble because toya doesn't exactly flaunt his wealth or spend a crazy amount of money (although he does spend a lot of time on crane games so i like to think he gets a pretty hefty allowance)

in general he is pretty wealthy :) i would say around the same level as tsukasa and less than emu

and again why do rich people have such big spaces for the most random things for LIKE I ALSO WISH I HAD A LOUNGE AREA IN MY ROOM HELLO??? like rich people would definitely have a whole ass room for just COFFEE

he's super duper cute and sweet; the way he just goes along with it — maybe he thinks it is interesting, maybe its fun, maybe it was something he heard that made him laugh SO HE ASSOCIATES GOOD THINGS WITH IT. he’s so pure and innocent that way. HE’S DOING HIS BEST HE IS EXCITED EVEN IF ITS NOT AS EXAGGERATED.

i like to think he does it because he saw tsukasa do it, so when he heard emu’s command he instinctively wonderhois to make tsukasa proud (or something OR MAYBE HE DOES IT BECAUSE HE THINKS IT IS CUTE)

i'm gonna sound so crazy when i say this

the thing about toya's comms is that all of them are very personal to his story; so likewise the event pv will be tailored to that very personal aspect of toya (the monochrome -> vivid color change)

this one may be a personal thing also but toya's comms have a very distinct colorful sound. there is always a huge blend of lots of sounds with a gentle and mellow melody. its very easy to distinguish a toya comm song because his character feels so so much through music. so likewise, his music will always be very colorful because that's who he truly is

basically its dead easy to tell which song is a toya comm song, even without any graphics (ok this might be me becoming insane) because there will always be something about color and gentleness in it. despite a lot of his songs being about cold places like "void", "winter", "empty room", his songs are very warm in the instrumental sense

you can blindfold me and take out the vocals and i will STILL know which song is a toya comm. you can kidnap me and only release me if i manage to sing every toya song and I WILL BE ABLE TO DO IT

Do you know if Toya canonically is handsome?

as far as i know direct comments regarding toya's appearance isn't generally made. during valentines 2024, comments to him were mainly about how shocked they were to see toya do a photoshoot, and how well done the makeup is. even more so when his classmates found out he taught himself how to do makeup. (in addition to the congratulatory words)

his classmates were very surprised to find out he did the makeup himself as seen above ^ as for the general photoshoot toya decided to join because he wanted to help kohane + to hopefully win some of the chocolates for akito. personally i think he took it more of a good experience to learn new things like makeup and modelling, which he never did before, in addition to giving back to the people he cares about.

most direct comments to his "appearance" is usually about his facial expressions because toys wasn't very expressive back then :)

meiko: toya-kun has been laughing a lot more now but, until recently, an used to say that "its as if his facial muscles are dead" as far as i can tell his facial expressions don't really change that much.

because of this vbs tends to be very shocked when toya makes large facial expressions like the one below

these expressions only appear when he's extrenely excited or happy that he can't contain himself. ie. when he found out akito has been studying, or when he experiences something life changing for the first time.

petit sekai is also non-canon so the contents in the episodes don't really reflect the true canon universe in game

but all this aside in general you can take him as conventionally attractive since with gacha games its usually the case that the original characters are conventionally attractive in some way :)

oh yeah remember how i mentioned that the concept of love is very deeply rooted in toya

toya wouldn't be the toya we know if harumichi never gave him that gift which is classical music (technically toya took huge interest in it the first time he heard his father play but we will phrase it this way for effect) i think the love for music is the biggest gift harumichi ever gave to toya. even though he has been through so much hardships and initial misunderstandings with his family. one thing that never changed is toya's love for music.

being able to come to peace and love yourself for who you are is a testament to how strong toya is.

toya doesn't just want to create music, he wants to create music that weaves in everything he has learnt and loved into a unique sound. this is why toya's music gradually grows more and more colorful because the sound he creates deep from his heart is a testament to how much he has grown to love. he wants to blend together all the sounds he has experienced in his life, to confidently show to the world who his.

a lot of people may think "he definitely 100% hates classical music" but i think he doesn't. it is a sweeping statement to say so because toya, like everyone else, is a complex human. he loves it, but he struggles real hard to see that love through all of the inner disappointment he harbours to himself. he fought his own feelings for so long because he never knew if he was "worthy" after disappointing people again and again, and being "half-hearted" (from his own words)

hating classical music quite means hating every single thing about himself, his life and constantly living in fear — because classical music is such a big part of his identity and his way of thinking. the whole idea of his journey is learning to love and love discovery again, to fall down but also get up. (to help him realise he doesn't need to be perfect)

which means, toya is learning to rediscover that love he blinded himself from. to tell himself that no matter how much he "disappoints expectations", the people who love him will be there for him.

love is a very big part of his story, even if its not super obvious right in your face. toya loves a lot. "hate" was never really in his vocabulary.

(please bear with the note sfx i play at like... everything max lol) he’s especially nasally in this cover but i think that is what makes me love it so much. i may be delusional, or i might be remembering things wrongly but there's something different about the nasally feeling of his voice here. you know those moments when you’re so happy and colorful it feels unreal, there’s that very airy and floaty happiness that makes your throat choke up a bit, and your nose gets little stuffy because you’re on such cloud nine you can't describe it. i imagine the scenery in toya's head, up in the clouds flying and dancing around, singing about all things beautiful, with the sun shining on his face. it gives me the image that toya, who doesn't usually cry, is almost about to because he can't contain the sheer amount of pure joy he feels, because he is surrounded by all the sounds that make him feel. there's a "i'm so happy my nose and throat is a little stuffy and my head is spinning with colors" aspect to the emotions in the voice. i especially love the line 笑い飛ばしてくれよメイリー "Let’s laugh away! měi lì" it is a very freeing lyric befitting of toya. to rediscover his joy and love for experiencing even when he's battling with loving himself for who he is. to laugh together with the people you love the most because they are your safe haven. specifically it felt like a reference to mirai when toya sings "i found a place where we can all laugh together", that's what this line means to me. i also love the final seconds of the song where it goes:

ヘイヴンは きっとあるから/ 絵空事でも愛していくよ/ がらんどうな部屋 灯る光/ 君と共に選んだ 確かな今/ ヘイヴンは きっと見つける/ 自分だけの鼓動を "My “Haven” is definitely here somewhere!/ I’ll love you even if you’re just a pipe dream/ In a hollow room, a light shines through/ I chose this moment with you, and now, I’m sure of it/ I’ve definitely found my “Haven”/ One where I’ve found my own heartbeat"

"haven" , at its very core means a safe place where one can retreat to. even at toya's darkest moments, he has always turned to music as an avenue to release those feelings. for some reason, even when he was frustrated with classical music, he instead turned to street music and found his spark there. it is quite a testament to how much he can't bear to let go of music. so at the very end of the song, when toya goes どちらの意味も今は解る, "I know what both of them mean" — he now knows what its like to finally embrace his love for music (internal haven), and to finally have a place with all his friends (exterior haven). the final few lines are all very definite, as if telling us about toya's newfound confidence with the use of きっと (definitely). the transition to the use of adverbs of certainty was important in that aspect, leaving no doubt.

i think, that throughout toya's entire journey, he has come to find out that his "haven" is a place where all his friends are, and most importantly, where his biggest love, music is. despite all the pain he harboured over his guilt, i think he is learning to overcome those chains, which has actually been indicated multiple times through using birds and cages as a metaphor. its a very beautiful one.

no matter how much toya struggled with himself, vbs was his haven where he could express himself freely. the newfound freedom that made his heart soar.

even if none of this was real, or everything was a fantasy chapter in toya's novels, he loved every. single. moment. he now knows what it means to love this world.

rereading toya’s side stories (pt. idk)

lloyd: he said "well breakfast is ready so i'll hang up", but speaking of what we actually talked about, i told him about how i think toya is really similar to harumichi

toya: what did my father say?

lloyd: hahaha, well, he said "i know"

this scene is actually so precious and its even better voiced — it was like lloyd was trying to replicate how harumichi said it. the way harumichi acknowledges so warmly that “he knows”... i can hear the way he said it, i can imagine the way he said it. the cutoff "breakfast is ready" is so so fitting of harumichi (serious and stoic)

seeing his son, so so serious and insistent about doing street music, proving that dream to him, being so passionate for music even after being beaten down by the weight of his son's own expectations. after reading this story, i feel like he sees his younger self in his son more and more, a young harumichi trying to prove himself in new york, where people around him looked down on the music he loved. like lloyd said, harumichi is the type to pay attention and listen when you come to him serious and honest with your feelings. ever since the day toya confronted his feelings towards music, harumichi has been there supporting him from the background.

his father doing his best to understand him, and in return toya wanting to understand his father more, the interaction is so sweet and full of love. there were bits where toya's like "my father is this kind of person?" (positive) but it only led him to strengthen the admiration and love for his family because i'm sure that, toya saw himself in young harumichi too.

there are so many funny things about harumichi but i think one of the most significant facts to learn was how harumichi too has a “found family” just like toya. harumichi finding friends in classical music even though he was beaten down for liking it… and these lifelong friends are the ones attending his wedding, talking about him, asking how he is doing, etc. it is so similar to toya if you think about it.

and oh toya 🥺🥺 "someday i'd love to have that conversation with my father" he really does... i think toya really wants to know more about this side of his father that he never got to see.

peak storytelling because i really love father-son relationships and harumichi and toya’s growth hit the spot so well (crashing out as we speak)

HEADCANON: do you guys ever wonder if toyamama or his parents just buy him different variations of the same clothing for him because toya told them he found them comfortable then ever since they just stick to buying him the same clothes that they 100% know will make him happy.

i think that toya would be pretty particular about clothing, not so much of a "looking good" sense (ok but he will dress up whenever), but in a "i want to be comfortable in my clothes" way. i reckon he'll avoid certain types of clothing if he finds it too uncomfortable or if there's too many dangly things.

the way he has the exact same turtleneck in two different colors... he must be owning like 5 different colors of that same turtleneck i swear.

but that's ok he's just like me... i always stick to what is comfortable.

i like really the way the curtains blow with the wind and the way the sunlight makes them slightly translucent.

it exudes a lot of mystery, and somehow the curtains create this sort of barrier between the camera and toya -- that basically, the piano and violin are very important and personal objects to toya (which is also mentioned in the story. this moment in the card captures a very private and intimate moment toya has with gradually appreciating his past.

yet when the curtains blow and the light hits and shows us this moment, its as if its toya's own desire to open up to himself and everyone around him, something like he no longer wants to be afraid of himself or his past. he's sharing with us this private moment that he has with his past because he no longer wants to hide these feelings away//

they were so smart with the lighting transitions from greyscale to colorful because it reminded me so much about his fes card.

something about how toya's reconciliation process was a very slow and intimate one because it meant that he had to fight with his inner demons, fighting whether he could truly say that he loved music or not

we aren't directly beside him… but the transparent curtains, the fact we're somewhat near the piano, something like toya's willing to open up with his struggles instead of running away from everyone.
