it’s my birthday today and I’m turning seventeen so I thought I’d put together a list of seventeen songs that I really like atm!!
if you want to listen to the playlist you can listen to it here
the songs (in no particular order):
1. Can’t Help Myself (feat. LOCO) - Eric Nam
a super fun summer song that I fell in love with as soon as I heard it!! I knew eric nam made music but I mostly saw him hosting variety shows and stuff lmao I’m definitely planning on listening to more of his songs though
2. Bone + Tissue - Gallant
I’m going to gallant’s concert in october and I’m so excited bc he’s got an amazing voice (his falsetto is !!! just like!!! so good!!!)
3. Manolo - Trip Lee, Lecrae
ngl I first heard this song when jkook did some choreo to it during hobi’s hope on the street segment but tbh I really love the backtrack/rapping
4. Research - Big Sean feat. Ariana Grande
I love how big sean really creates an image with his rapping and the first time I heard this song I thought it was hilarious
5. Cold Sweat - Tinashe
I!!! love!!! tinashe!!!!! I literally love everything she’s ever created and her album aquarius is hella good go listen to the whole thing omg I can’t believe I was lucky enough to see her perform live
6. Hold Me Tight - BTS
I love this song so much ok like I love that tae was a big part of this song I love the piano I love the vocals I love everything
7. Autumn Leaves - BTS
my fave song on hyyh pt 2 and even though baepsae is a TUNE I just love the backtrack on autumn leaves so much and yoongi produced it too!! I’m v proud of him
8. Ferrari - The Neighbourhood
tbh I love the neighbourhood’s sound and how you can tell immediately that a song is their song (some might say their songs all sound really similar but I like the emo angst)
9. Wolves - One Direction
10. Better Than Words - One Direction
ok so lbr there are so many songs that would’ve been such good singles off of their albums and wolves and better than words are such tunes tbh
11. She Used To Be Mine - Sara Bareilles
sara bareilles has a lovely voice and I can really relate to the lyrics
12. DKLA - Troye Sivan feat. Tkay Maizda
I love the slow buildup and the relaxed feeling of this song!! I’ve watched troye grow so much throughout his time on youtube and creating music and I feel so proud and happy for him!!
13. No Role Modelz - J. Cole
a classic tbh j.cole is a vibrant rapper and I love the way he tells a story through his verses
14. FWU - Kehlani
I’ve gotten a lot more into r&b this last year and kehlani is amazing
15. Tunnel Vision - Justin Timberlake
I’m a sucker for the full orchestra sound that jt has in his songs and tunnel vision is one of my favorites
16. Get That Money - Okasian
tbh what hooked me on this song was the clear cut motif in the very beginning of the song and I still really love it!!!
17. 200% - Akdong Musician
I found out about akmu recently and they have such lovely voices that meld together effortlessly!!
#so yea!!! here are some songs I love v much#I thought it'd be fun to post this and look back on it later in life to see what I listened to when I was seventeen#music#playlist#music recommendation#music rec#rec#post#my post#list#songs#birthday

just some updates
I’m so sorry that I’ve been so inactive on this blog!!! school is starting to get more and more time consuming and the third quarter slump is getting really tough to fight so tbh I’ve just been trying to stay sane :/
this blog doesn’t have very many followers anyways so I don’t think anyone will actually read this but one of my friends is really into figure skating and a few days ago I asked her about it so she wrote up a mini guide and I thought the idea was really cool!!! aside from music, I watch more like used to watch :( school sucks a lot of tv shows so I think I’m gonna write up recs for tv shows too!!! and like compile a few mini lists/guides (and in terms of the music recs I’ll work on some playlists)
idk I just really like writing things up and making nice lists so I guess we’ll just see what happens!!! thanks for reading this if you did and if you have any questions/ideas lmk!! :)

Norf Norf - Vince Staples
The beginning of this song is what drew me in; the catchy feel of the song and Vince Staples’ rapping were intriguing. When I’ve got a lot on my plate, Norf Norf helps me clear my mind and focus.

Did I - Kehlani
I was checking out some new music yesterday and came across Kehlani’s song Did I (I had previously heard a couple of her songs but hadn’t really looked into her music in depth). The flow of this song is addicting and the chorus is so fun and catchy---I can’t wait to listen to more of her music.

Fourth of July - Fall Out Boy
I’m not sure if its just me, but I feel like Fall Out Boy’s songs always comes from the soul. Even though people are always joking about how no one knows what Patrick Stump is saying, I think that a lot of times people are talking so fast and stumbling over their words to get their feelings out as quickly as possible—a realistic feeling reflected in Fall Out Boy’s music. I really like the build up in the beginning of Fourth of July; this song is such an anthem to me, and its also got that feeling of nostalgia that I’ve talked about way too many times on this blog.
American Beauty/American Psych is a fantastic album, and I also loved The Kids Aren’t All Right, Jet Pack Blues, and Novocaine.

***Flawless - Beyonce (feat. Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie)
Beyonce has been and always will be the queen, and her song ***Flawless has a powerful message. This song is the one that’s blasted whenever I need to mentally prepare myself for the day, need a boost of confidence, or have been feeling down.
(Her whole album is amazing, of course.)

Wit It This Christmas - Ariana Grande
Yes, I know Christmas has already passed, but guys. Ariana Grande and Christmas music. Ariana Grande, and Christmas music.
A few days before Christmas, I found out through a friend that she had released the short Christmas album Christmas & Chill and have been listening to it ever since. My favorite is Wit It This Christmas because of its the relaxed R&B feel and her smooth vocals.
If you’re looking for another great song off Christmas & Chill, I also really like True Love.

Wake Me Up - Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran’s album + was the very first album I bought with my own money; it was completely an impulse buy, and at the time I only knew about The A Team because my friend showed it to me. Either way, buying + was definitely one of the best purchases I’ve ever made–I’ve listened to it countless times and it’s kept me going when I wasn’t feeling my best.
Wake Me Up was always my favorite because of its simplicity. The lyrics describe feelings that resonate with me deeply, and after listening to the song I always feel at peace.
