I love randomly remembering old projects I used to have, because I just remembered an idea I had for a plot for a Slugterra OC, where basically it'd take place in the Outland Reach (an excuse for me to make cool new slugs) and itd be my OC Ace and her brother Cyn going around and basically being heroes like the Shane Gang were.

I had the idea that Ace and Cyn had a Rammstone and a Frostcrawler respectively, and any canon slugs are known as Migrator slugs in the Outland Reach since my idea was they had to travel far to end up there. Ace and Cyn basically rescued the Rammstone and Frostcrawler from slug traps a long time ago and have bonded with them since, and now go around helping slugs whenever they can. There was also going to be this organization that studies slugs, since my idea was slugs in the Outland Reach can be harder to classify sometimes, as maybe some slugs mixed elements a little bit, and this organization was going to be antagonistic.

The story as a whole would have a more mature theme (Cyn literally has a prosthetic arm from getting it cut off by a slug trap) but uh yeah! I remember making one or two slug ideas, and here's some old art I did for this ideas as a whole!

The standard clock design for the world of Souls of Black!

Mechanisms

Clocks work with the time of 21 hours per day, with the 11th hour being their noon. 63 minutes make up 1 hour, and 63 ticks (their equivalent to seconds) make up one minute. Clocks are mostly made of gold, but have copper and iron, both for hand designs and the actual gears within the clock, as gold is rather malleable and can be susceptible to decent damage if not treated properly. Clocks are also powered by redstone within them.

The hour hand is the shortest of the three hand types, with one end decorated with the sun for hours before the 11th (day hours), and the other end decorated with a full moon, for hours after the 11th (night hours). This hand spins as one mechanism.

The minute hand's end correspond with the day and night hours as well, with the cloud for day hours, and the star for night hours. Each side spins independently during its designated hours, then swap at the 11th hour. 3 rotations of one side equals 1 hour passed.

The tick/ticking hand spins for all hours, and is painted with black dye. It represents how The Black ties together all trade-offs in the world, with said trade-offs being depicted by the sun/moon, and the cloud/star.

At the 11th hour, the hour hand lays horizontal across the bottom of the viewing screen, and the small light glows red with the power of redstone, signalling the middle hour as the minute and tick hands continue rotating. During day hours, the background in the viewing screen is a clear blue sky. During night hours, it is a purple midnight sky covered in stars. It is at the 11th hour that the screens shift.

Variants

Clocks across the Biomes, and even within a singular one, typically vary. Some Biomes may use different symbols to decorate the hands' ends, such as monster faces or native plants. Some clocks may be even more advanced than the standard, and have the ability to show moon phases of specific nights, or even predict stormbursts, violent storms that near constantly ravage the borders between Biomes.

Creation

Due to being a redstone machine, it takes careful precision to make clocks and have them be functional. To make them, one must use the special tools that come with creating a crafting station, the same tools that are used for making diamond armor. This mean clocks aren't exactly a commodity, but also aren't extremely rare, either.
