Party’s Over:
I likely speak for my entire generation, when I say that becoming an adult in recent years has felt like showing up to a house party at 4AM - the late stages.
We’ve arrived at the door, but no one inside is conscious (or sober) enough to come & welcome us in.
There’s some downtempo, melancholy music playing over the sound-system; a lullaby for all the passed-out partygoers, sprawled out & snoring on the floor.
They’ve had all the fun.
They’ve drank all the drinks.
They’ve littered the house with empty cups and glasses, knocked over a few tables & chairs, filled the air with a stench of vomit...
And now, there’s an unspoken expectation that WE should stick around & start cleaning everything up.
If we could, wouldn’t we all prefer to just turn around & leave?
