WANTED
Detroit police are looking for the public’s help in catching a man wanted for allegedly beating his girlfriend to death. Investigators are looking for 37-year-old Demetrius Montgomery, wanted for killing Latisha Bargaineer on Colfax Street, last weekend.
He could be in a black GMC Yukon with the Michigan license plate DRR 6262 and may be on his way to Alabama. If you see him, do not approach him. Instead call 911 immediately.
Detroit police say Sunday night at about 11 p.m. Bargaineer, 30, had been with her 39-year-old boyfriend Montgomery. Friends say they had been dating on-and-off for 11 years.
Her boyfriend’s sister inside a home on Colfax told police he walked into the house acting “out of it."
That’s when she says he grabbed the keys of his cousin’s black Yukon and took off. His sister walked outside and discovered his red Ford Flex in the driveway and lying on the backseat floor was Bargaineer, beaten to death.

EXONERATED AFTER 23 YEARS IN PRISON
Philadelphia County, PA – Shaurn Thomas has been exonerated of murder. He was convicted in 1994 and sentenced to life in prison without parole for the murder and robbery of a 78-year old man. On November 13, 1990, 78-year old Domingo Martinez was shot, robbed, and left to die on the street. He had just withdrawn $25,000 in cash from his bank. As he was driving towards one of his three travel agencies, a car cut him off, and he stopped. Two men got out of the other car, and one of them shot Martinez through the windshield. They dumped him onto the street and drove off in his car with the $25,000 in cash. The other vehicle was driven by a third man and followed his two accomplices. In October of 1992, a man named Nathaniel Stallworth was arrested on a charge unrelated to Martinez’s murder. During police interrogation, he told investigators that six people were involved in his murder. He named his cousins, John and William Stallworth, Clayton Thomas, and his brother Shaurn Thomas, who was 16 years old at the time of the murder. John Stallworth plead guilty to third-degree murder and agreed to testify for the prosecution. Police arrested the remaining individuals implicated by Nathaniel Stallworth in 1993 and charged them all with murder, robbery, conspiracy, and illegal use of a weapon. William Stallworth soon plead guilty and testified for the prosecution against the Thomas brothers in 1994. He testified that he was with Shaurn in a vehicle that was following the one driven by Clayton. According to him, Clayton rammed Martinez’s car, got out, shot him through the windshield, and pulled him out of his car. Shaurn’s defense lawyer presented alibi evidence that he was checking into court for juvenile offenders at the time of the Martinez murder. However, the lawyer neglected to call Shaurn’s mother and sister who would have testified that Shaurn was waiting in court for his initial appearance at the time in question. On December 19, 1994, he was convicted on all charges and sentenced to life in prison without parole. In 2009, an attorney with the Pennsylvania Innocence Project, James Figorski, reviewed Shaurn’s file and believed his alibi. As such, he believed that Shaurn was innocent. In 2011, William recanted his testimony, stating that he lied to favorable treatment from the prosecution for his brother. In fact, he denied even being at the scene of the murder. In 2016, the Philadelphia County District Attorney’s Office conviction integrity unit began reinvestigating Shaurn’s case. The prosecution soon concluded that it was “more likely” Shaurn was in juvenile court at the time than at the murder scene. On May 23, 2017, the prosecution had his convictions vacated, and on June 13, 2017, the prosecution dismissed all charges against him.
