virge has a pet spider. One day, while Virgil is holding the spider, Patton pops into his room unannounced. Virge doesnt have time to react before Patton sees the spider and starts SCREAMING. As Virge stumbles to rectify the situation, he gets bit.

A little bit later.

Logan's tending to the nasty looking bite on Virgil's arm. Patton's there, and he tells Virgil that he's sorry the spider bit him.

And Virgil's reaction is a bitter 'whatever.'

Patton says something else about how it must have been so SCARY for him, getting bitten by a SPIDER of all things; "I'm glad it happened while i was there, though, not when you were all alone. You're gonna have to be more careful--"

... and Virgil snaps.

He doesn't mean to. Virge... Virge hadn't even been aware he was mad at Patton until after the words were already flying from his mouth.

"She's never bit me before!" Virgil snaps about his spider. "Never! You came into my room screaming, and she doesn't like loud sounds. She was SCARED. She only bit me because you SCARED her."

It... hurts, hearing Patton talk like his beloved spider is a wretched thing, like Virge getting bit was bound to happen because of COURSE a SPIDER (awfulawfulawful evil creepy crawly little DEATH dealer) would inevitably bite him, instead of it just being a fluke brought on by the spider being mistreated and frightened.

It hurts, knowing that there's a part of himself that kind, loving Patton will not only never understand, but never TRY to understand; it hurts thinking that maybe there's a part of himself that Patton hates.

I will never not be emotional about how far Roman and Virgil‘s relationship has developed over the course of Sanders Sides. Not even necessarily from a shipping point of view: in terms of narrative I love how they’re classic binary opposites (light/dark, introvert/extrovert, optimist/pessimist), yet they still manage to find areas of shared interest (Disney, music, Nico), as well as the fact that that improving their relationships to each other made them better in general. You‘d find it difficult to talk about Roman’s character development without bringing up Virgil, just like it’d be tricky to talk about Virgil’s character development without bringing up Roman. Examples:

Virgil went from targeting Roman’s insecurities

To reassuring him, death-glaring at people who try to upset him, and just generally having his back because he saw him sad and vulnerable in FWSA and realised that Roman + Sad = The Worst Thing Ever.

Not to mention how Roman used to loudly bemoan about Virgil’s presence in videos, making it clear again and again that he didn’t like him being there.

But as their relationship grew, this became less and less common, until instead Roman started expressing happiness when Virgil showed up in videos, even smiling and perking up when he mentioned him in the Five Year Anniversary video.

I just think they’re neat.

Logan, frowning: I was under the impression that you usually found that distressing. Severe sleep deprivation is a serious matter.

Patton: I got him to agree to go to bed.

hello sanders sides fandom, it has been a WHILE since i posted but i’ve gotten back into the fandom!

i was watching “virgil reacts to anxiety from inside out 2” and can we talk about how roman has gone from hating virgil to being his #1 defender?? this was a man who quite literally HATED virgil in the beginning, bemoaned his presence, and generally didn’t want him around at all.

and in this video, roman is the one to say, “and besides, what does it matter? we like this version of anxiety best” and look at him with this absolutely fond expression.

regardless of whether you see this as platonic or romantic, it’s truly adorable how roman and virgil have grown closer to one another and have gone from disliking each other to being each other’s best friend and closest confidant.

Sometimes it’s easy to forget that the sanders sides are all played by the same person… like it’s all Thomas. All of them. Virgil and Remus especially feel like different people. Like they all do but Virgil and Remus especially. HOW IS IT ALL THOMAS????
