there are two kinds of hockey goalies:

the ones that act like giant golden retrievers, that like to sing off key during warmups, that spray their teammates with water when they skate over to the bench, basically full of sunshine, but can have a dark side and will totally drop their gloves if someone messes with their teammates and/or if someone pranks them (these ones are usually very superstitious)

and then there are the very serious, more quiet ones, that almost never put their mask up during the game, the ones that take 100% of the blame for their team’s losses, the ones that notice fans behind the glass and give game pucks to little kids, also they may act serious but they secretly listen to taylor swift in their car

i hurt so badly when i was a teenager. i had the best childhood when it came to so many things, but i only just recently came to the realization that both of my parents were and still are very manipulative and emotionally/psychologically abusive. i didn't understand that when i was growing up. i didn't know i was having panic attacks because nobody told me it wasn't normal. i've had severe anxiety for as long as i can remember, most likely because of my mom. now, don't get me wrong, i LOVE my mother. i love her so much and she loves me too. i'd never tell her any of this, because i know she never meant to. but that's something that scares me. would i end up inflicting the same type of mental scars on my child? i would do my best, but my mom doesn't realize what she does to me, so who's to say i wouldn't end up doing the same thing? i want children. i want to be a mother, but i don't want a child who's as miserable as i was. i would rather die than put a human being through that. i want to protect all the children too tbh, not just my future ones. i have this overwhelming desire to mentor children who are around 9-13, honestly. i never stop thinking about it. i know every kid is hiding some sort of pain, and approaching puberty doesn't make it any easier. i just want to be there for them and give them a hug and listen to what they have to say. i really, really respect kids.

I think a main problem with art hoe culture is that its foundations kinda seem to be on the soft, delicate, pastel, pale, and “pure” and thus can oftentimes be quite simply overtly racist. I absolutely ~love~ the aesthetic and the very notion of young girls being part of an arty collective (speaking as a working teen girl artist myself), the very concept of it makes my insides glow because there has been so much we have been disallowed by culture (& cultural history) and society. BUT we need to celebrate diversity and cut the racist TRASH out. art hoe culture was literally invented by WOC and not only do we need to honour that (speaking as a white “art hoe”) but we need to act on it all the time. cut the “pure” and pale shit out. also reframe the class element of art hoe culture: make art, let it be the cornerstone for the art movement (obviously…but…this needs to be pointed out) rather than putting the emphasis on what you wear, what brands you own (kanken, docs), and what capitalist trends you’re behind. not all artists (in fact very few) will have the kind of money to afford to buy into that as a movement. and it’s anti-art, completely unradical. and art hoe culture has huge potential for being the radical movement we desperately need it to be. love your sisters n siblings, recognise race and discrimination and not only this but unlearn and act on your own problematic and racist actions :) make being part of a teen girl artist collective a positive move forward not another pedal backward into our own white liberal trash heap we keep steering back into
