TW: talk of suicide

I find Jayce's reactions to death/someone dying interesting + his borderline suicidal tendencies never really going away after his attempt in act 1 S1.

First there's his attempt scene which i've discussed in a different post and how he was just completely empty was just going until Viktor's voice cuts through the silence. Then how he already had a letter which makes me curious as to what was written in it but i'm also glad we don't know.

Then his reactions to finding out Viktor is dying

-Jayce is very adamant that there is way to save him and that Viktor ISN'T going to die. So much so that when Heimerdinger tries to shut down the thing they think might help Viktor, Jayce's immediate reaction is to get Heimerdinger off of the council to ensure that he can't stop that even bringing in actual reasons to get Heimerdinger off of the council.

-He even changes his priority of helping the people to saving Viktor first, he still wants to help the people but now Viktor is the priority, as he even tells Mel this and later Ekko with "They weren't what we were trying to save"

-He literally can't accept the fact that Viktor is dying and he doesn't really try to come to terms with the fact that Viktor will technically be leaving him. He talks about it with Mel for a bit but then it's all blank because he CANNOT die.

Him being all risk and not thinking of himself

-Talking with Silco alone with no weapons and no guards not really caring that he could've been killed in that bridge

-Telling Mel it should've been him instead of Viktor for the council explosion

-Both of his hands being free here and he's not even being pinned down but all he does is just move his head and Vi has to come save him.

-Neglecting his wounds and still sleeping in the lab because he HAS to be there for Viktor, despite half of his back almost being sawed.

Now we have Viktor's 1st death

-Jayce again sees the other dead bodies in the room + the damage and is in shock but doesn't cry until he sees Viktor's body in the rubble and from there it's over. He goes back on the promise he made earlier that day and saves Viktor because again, to him, Viktor CAN'T die. It's not even a thought in his head and when Viktor awakens he tells him he understands ("Jayce will understand" and he does) and chooses the lab with Viktor over the council.

Finally we have his end

-Jayce looks scared but is okay because he's with his partner and it's what he wanted now even when he still has his mom and others waiting for him.

-Viktor had told him to go, he could've left and lived but he chooses to stay and die.

-Even prior to that even when he says "We're meant to lose this fight" when the moment comes he just closes his eyes and accepts it. Again when Viktor is fully taking over his mind he just keeps looking at Viktor but accepts it.

Every time Jayce is hurting or dying he kinda just accepts it like he does actively try to get better or purposefully try to attempt again but when he could be in a situation where he could die he's okay with it. And it's a sad thought but that's also who Jayce is he doesn't put himself before others even if it's literally life or death.

Another thing I love about Jayvik is how normal lots of fanfics and fanart are compared to how unhinged the actual show is. Once again I imagine someone here who hasn't watched Arcane to encounter Jayvik content and be like "oh this is fan-driven, they come up with all these loving scenarios about their ship, obviously exaggerating"

and in the show they call eachother "partner" and hallucinate the other's face and find eachother in every timeline and die for the other in eachother's arms

People shit on S1 Jayce for making bad/impulsive decisions then changing his mind all the time, but imagine you’re an inventor in some steampunk city. You’re like a fucking great inventor and you basically make and harness magic. Then some random guy uses your magic to blow up a building, and the girl you like just puts you on the senate so you can deal with it.

Jayce is many things but politician was never one, he just wanted to do little magic science with his boy but somehow ended up as the president then got nuked
